Bobby

**

On Saturday night, Jaydon Blue was held out because of injury.

As we mentioned, had it been the OU game and not UTSA, Blue would have suited up and played against the Sooners. The sidelining of Blue was precautionary as much as anything.

Blue has participated in practice this week.

But will he play against ULM? Are there possibly others that might get a week of rest?

Sark and his staff are absolutely monitoring the health and durability of the players more than ever before IMO. He has to considering the potential length of the season.

Right now, according to ESPN, Texas is the single team rated the most likely to make the college football playoffs with a 90-percent likelihood.

Potentially, that means more games than ever before. Resting players and/or making sure they’re full go at the right time is important.

It’s also something that can be done only if you have strong depth. And, thankfully, Texas has that depth now as much as ever.

As CJ mentioned, Quinn Ewers tossed the ball some at practice yesterday. He did not really let it fly, but he was warming some.

Sark labeled Ewers as questionable for Saturday’s game. I think that’s being kind. We fully expect Arch Manning to start against ULM.

I don’t think I can remember a year like this, where we don’t have any teams with an elite passing attack on the schedule.

Is it a concern that our secondary may face their first real test in the playoffs?

username answers your question. think of the test THEIR secondary faces.

We have enough new faces combined with more experienced ones that the secondary no longer concerns me. Sure they faced pretty crappy offenses so far, (even Mich) but I trust our offense to score more points in the event of a shootout.

If anything is a concern it's really good running teams. Our run D seems to be either stuff the RB at the line or allow them to rip off 10+ yards, not much in-between. That said, not sure which likely playoff team has a monster run game.

I was discussing this with a buddy at lunch. After thinking about it, the best passing attack we'll face is probably UGA. They're not bad, but they're not 2023 UW either.

He also made the point that our secondary faces a "real test" in practice. Even if there isn't a great passing team on the schedule, the secondary is still having to defend against one of the best QB and WR rooms in the country every day.

NC St. is better than you are giving them credit for.  The wheels came off sure, but TN played lights out .

They beat Western Carolina 38-21 and Louisiana Tech 30-20. They may have been good last year and Doeren may be a good coach but through 3 games this year they are indistinguishable from a Sun Belt team on the field.

Ahem

Just realized: every team we play this year is from a different state than every other until we double up on Texas for the aggy game. Unless I am mistaken (always a risk, sadly), this is our first regular season to play teams from 11 different states.

Yeah, I thought about that a while back. Pretty interesting.

This year we only travel out of Texas to Michigan, Tennessee and Arkansas. Next year, however, we go to Ohio, Mississippi, Kentucky, Florida and Georgia.

On the LB group:  Sarkisian says the two defensive players of the game were both linebackers which speaks to the depth and talent in that room.

"We have always felt very highly of Lefau."

On TyAnthony Smith: "I thought we were getting a developmental player... He is very instinctual."

Sarkisian says Texas feels very good about the LB position as well.

Quinn will be "Questionable" for this weekend.

Deandre Moore didn't practice today due to hip pointer sustained during ULM game.

I thought he said he did practice. And, imo, implied that he might have gone back in the game but WR depth made it unnecessary to consider.

Is this just assumed?

or has the SEC officially said (or even “unofficially” officially said) the sec schedule with will just be opposite of this year?

I don't know where to inquire about this, so I'll try here. Where is the visitors section and band going to be now that conf is starting? I noticed mid day today that a couple thousand tickets got released where the old B12 visitors section used to be.

Saturday it looked like the ULM band was in the NE corner nosebleeds circa 119, so I figured that was visitor land now.

That was not the ULM band. That was the Texas Alumni Band.

But that is the same location where the UTSA band was the week before.

Wow what a misperception on my part. I thought the alumni band was usually big and well-announced. Did I miss the information when I went for food at the beginning of half-time?

I found this regarding what Oklahoma did about the SEC rules.

Looking at our seating charts and such on google I think the 2,000 lower bowl seats are in section 32. I don't think there are specific rules for the band, at least that I can find right now. I'll continue looking.

I think this has been like this since 2022 or so though once we knew we were heading to SEC and that's why they moved the student sections over a little bit because there is a SEC rule that says student sections can't be between the 30s
