The cuntiness on this thread has reached a new shaggy high. And that is saying something. You can be skeptical without spouting a bunch of retarded football diarrhea from your mouth.

Retarded footbal diarrhea is par for the Surly course...
Yet, I can't seem to quit.

Meniscus tear that is fixed = out over a month typically. Meniscus tear that is trimmed - might be back sooner.

I'm not a collegiate athlete but in pretty good shape for 40 and my meniscus repair surgery had a recovery time of about a month (walked out of the surgery).  Repair (same knee a year later), I wasn't off crutches for 6 weeks and then another 4 months of rehab.  Finally 100% 18 months later.

This was a Good read.

Per TFB

To be honest, starting to feel more and more optimistic about this team and the prospects for this season and the future.

***I asked a source, very simply, is this offense actually better than last years.

The answer I received was equally as simply but the most exciting sourced note I’ve received in a while…

“The offense is light years ahead of where it was last year”.

***While they aren’t starter, two guys I’m hearing a lot about in recent days in Junior Angilau and Sam Cosmi. Texas just hasn’t had enough guys in the past number of years to be elite on the offensive line and certainly haven’t had enough depth. What I’m hearing about Angilau and Cosmi makes me more optimistic about the kind of talent that’s coming into the program.

Source said, “Angilau is f***** special. Him and Cosmi are competing in a way that is, frankly, exciting. The future is bright with those guys. You’ll see them this year. They may not be starters but they’re creating more intense competition and they’re guys who mark an upward trend in the cieling of offensive linemen at Texas”.

***Related to the note above, a source praised Keondre Coburn saying, “Keondre penetrates. People do not stop Keondre Coburn when he bull rushes”.

Although apparently, Angilau is not “people” because I’m told he straight stoned Coburn yesterday at practice.

***I know some have been asking about why Calvin Anderson isn’t running with the 1st team when the media is at practice and what it might mean.

I was told once again, “That is Calvin’s spot” regardless of the current rotation. Source added that while our guys have seen Okafor at left tackle, “Okafor is going to be your right tackle”.

***Texas needs as many weapons as possible on the offensive side of the ball and I’m told a guy to keep on eye on is freshman, Keontay Ingram. It sounds like, based on his current development trajectory, he is, at some point in camp or this season, going to surge up the depth chart.

One source said, “his feet and vision are elite. In fact he sees so much that sometimes he wants to do too much instead of just taking the yards that are there. He’s just not disciplined right now because he sees so much and he wants it all.”

But again, I’m told he’s going to make a move up the depth chart if he continues on his current path.

***I’m told Kris Boyd is just vicious. He’s hitting anything that moves. Was told at one point yesterday he destroyed the blocker, kept his feet moving and then destroyed the ball carrier.

***Source also talked about how in the second year in Orlando’s defense more guys are further along in their understanding of what Orlando wants. That means, more guys can play faster. I’m told that despite the losses, they are not only playing faster but they’re even more violent…

Is this English? As someone who enjoys using the comma, that's a lot of commas.

Good to hear regarding Ingram, nonetheless.

Bobby Burton: Thursday

Nagging injuries have a way of affecting a team. That's why Jeff McCulloch's recent injury is concerning. In and of itself, it's really not that big of a deal. McCulloch is expected to only be sidelined for the next couple of weeks. The setback will likely push McCulloch into nothing more than a bit role for the first couple of games this season as he gets back into playing shape and his strength returns.

But when injuries across the entire team start to mount, that's when it becomes a much larger discussion. I'm not writing this to sound the alarm bells. It's just one new injury after all. Instead, I think we just need to keep the injuries in mind. The next couple of weeks are about the Longhorns emerging a better team, and a large part of that is for the team to be as healthy as possible. McCulloch's setback is a small one. Let's hope there aren't more than 2 or 3 others over the next couple of weeks, and certainly not injuries to primary contributors.

**

Running back Tre Watson remains in a green jersey to this point. He's expected to be tested for leg strength on Monday before he comes back fully. That means he'll be limited in the first scrimmage of fall camp this Saturday. The flip side of that is that a couple of players are returning from injuries. One of those is tight end Cade Brewer. Brewer was back in full action on Wednesday and I was told he had a great practice.

**

I'm told that true freshman Cam Rising has made some "progress" in the first few practices. Asked to define what "progress" means exactly, the source told me that he's closer to Ehlinger and Buechele than he is away from them. Ehlinger remains the clear starter BTW, according to the source.

**

Three offensive linemen are going to make Herb Hand's job difficult, and that is meant in a good way. I'm told Denzel Okafor, Sam Cosmi and Tope Imade all continue to practice well. None of these three were necessarily slotted to start to open the year, which ostensibly means that the depth on the OL is better than it has been in almost ten years. But I'd caution anyone that thinks "depth" necessarily means they're going to be a plus unit come September. It just means that the drop off between the starters and the backups aren't going to be quite as drastic as we've become accustomed to.

**

I'm told coaches have been quietly encouraged with the play of back-up DL Gerald Wilbon.

**

I'm told that Caden Sterns is going to start and/or play a lot, somehow. Not sure what incarnation of a lineup we'll eventually see, but it appears that Sterns will probably be the first non-specialist freshman to earn starting spot.

I'd bite your hand off for a Sugar Bowl bid, that'd be sweet.

I was at the last one and it was no bueno.  Lost to VaTech and Drunkenmiller.  Great time though.  Went back several years later to watch us demolish Tulane.

I am really glad Burton is not ready to sound the alarm bells because a backup linebacker is going to miss a few weeks. What a little bitch he is.

No shit. That entire paragraph should have read “Outside of one backup linebacker, the entire team is healthy.”
