Zeus do you live in Galveston? Thats a bold choice for a guy with Florida ties.

Yeah dawg BOI

Bunch of my fam is in Gainesville I go back and forth.

Austin is a bit too far away for my liking but I do get to hit the beach with a 3 min walk from my house. It’s a crappy beach but it’s a beach lol

They look tiny. They got some fast kids though they’ve been getting some good gains on O.

Glad they all didn’t fight at the end of half that wasn’t looking too good. Should have a system where Ball kids huddle up and let them go to their locker room first.

Yeah the game has been chippy. Our offense is predicated on big plays but we're usually more balanced than this. I think we've been spoiled by having a string of magician QB play that can run and throw, don't have that this year.

Williams is as big as advertised and is fast.

To each their own. I’d probably live in Gulf Shores/Pensacola if I were you.

Again to each their own. I’d live anywhere but Houston if I didn’t have to live here for work.

If your work causes you to live in your last place choice of city, perhaps you'd be happier in a different job.

Jonah Williams appears to enjoy playing football. I have apparently been misinformed by the Internet.

There was a couple of plays he took off, just holding a guy blocking him instead of shedding then the ball carrier breaks a tackle and he’s got to actually shed and go pursue.

But overall his performance was great he just seemed like he’s ready for the next level. Like the coaches telling him things and the other players getting super hype on the sideline. He was more measured and focused, talked to his dad a few times.

it’s probably tough being in his position, he’s the hometown hero but he’s a big giant fish in a tiny pond. It’s hard to care when you are up 35-10 anyway and every single one of the kids on both teams is going to be finding a job soon and you are gonna keep playing ball.

I can see why Blue took a year off. Really you aren’t gaining much by running over 5’7” kids you are just risking injury. They had him run a reverse and he took it up the gut and jumped a pile of kids and I was kind of wondering… why… Either throw him deep shots on offense or just let him only play defense.

Do we expect him to stick at safety? He seems like an even more explosive version of Overshown to me

He's a Kyle Hamilton starter kit, I'd keep him at Safety.

Some of it will depend on how much he keeps growing/filling out, but he looks to have the speed and agility to stay at safety. Overshown didn’t really have that.  Overshown was more straight line explosive, whereas Williams’ has better agility and COD while also being faster.

But if Williams fills out to more like 230, spinning him down to LB could also be a great outcome as long as he’s willing to mix it up in the trenches.

Yea that line appears to be bullshit that  Texas fans were using to cope when it looked like he was headed elsewhere

I've watched every game he's played this season, some by streaming but a few in person including last night. One thing is for sure, we should really consider giving him some touches in special teams and/or offense packages. He's a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. I know that he's not playing the most elite Texas HS teams, but there's no doubt he is elite and I can't wait to see how he looks on the 40.

BTW, Zeus mentioned the INT. It was a thrown on target and would have been a big first down in the red zone at a time when PAM was still very much alive in the game. Jonah went up high and just wanted it more. He absolutely Mossed the WR and it's a sin if it doesn't show up on NFL Countdown (I wish I had video of it). I know Randy Moss loves WRs, but I would bet big that we would be excited to have this play on his segment. And it all happened about 15 yards directly in from of where Sark was standing. The only person with a better view than Sark was the poor, dumb bastard WR that got Mossed.

BTW, he hits harder than anyone Texas has had since Quentin Jammer. Glad he's gonna play for the good guys.

Made a GIF of the INT. I could make a higher quality one, but it would be 29 MB and I don't know what's acceptable on this board.

Love him getting his teammate off him then pointing at Sark while rocking those burnt orange gloves.

Tripped on the return, do not want. 😂

  • 3 weeks later...

It seemed to happen as he was tackled late in the 2nd quarter on a beautiful interception and return around the Barbers Hill 10 yd line. Ball ended up losing its Homecoming game 62-60 in 4 OTs. Would’ve won it for sure if Jonah hadn’t gotten hurt.

Isn't he supposed to be on the baseball team this spring?

1) Yes

2) I think that collar bones heal in about 8 weeks*.

Spring baseball won’t start for at leas 9 weeks and up to about 11 or 13.

*I’m not a doctor,  or have I broken a collar bone.

Hate that he got hurt, but that's a pretty minor season-ending injury as far as it concerns his future football career.

Maybe, but let's not be too glib. He may never be able to wear a sport coat properly again.

Depending on the grade of injury (basically how misaligned the two fragment ends are and where along the collarbone the fracture is), a collar bone fracture can potentially heal in about 6-8 weeks, especially in this age group.

He should be ready by enrollment date. I'm not sure if he was planning on it but it puts a dent into bowl practices for him. Since he plans to play spring ball I assume he'll try and get to campus for bowl prep/practices regardless to get a jump on learning.

Maybe I'm making this up - but didn't last year's team veto the idea/expectation of early enrollees practicing with the team before the playoff?

The average clavicle fracture will heal without surgery over the course of 2+ months. Some are bad enough they won't heal without surgery. With surgery in a young athlete, I would expect good healing within about 6 weeks.
