Replay was just guessing. It was too hard to tell.

Why sink an undefeated top ten Miami when you don't have to, they were thinking. There might have been the tiniest of moments where he was down and in control of the ball, but it's literally a frame or two. Probably the right call, but not enough to overturn it. Would have been controversial either way.

Really?  When is that going to happen?  Junk ass weak schedule.

It’s weak, but Louisville & Duke are better than VT, then whoever they play in the acc championship. They are favored in all of those but could drop any of them. Then they get blasted in round 1 of the playoff.

Virginia Tech just got jobbed. He had control when he hit the ground and then it was ripped out. ACC taking care of their Top 10 team.

He never hit the ground. It was clear as day that wasn’t a catch. The comparison to Dez is laughable.

Stats of the wash Rutgers game are crazy. Wash had 500 yards of offense (over 300 passing and over 200 rushing) and no turnovers and only scored 18 and lost.   Rutgers had under 300 yards (and no kick or punt return yardage) and punted 7 times.

This turned out to be a pretty good night of football watching, vtech/miami especially.  Fuck miami, but vtech too for that Sugar Bowl.

The Udub kicker needs to find his own way back to Seattle and clean out his locker.

Of course he hit the ground. Had possession when his butt hits the ground. If you think Miami guy wriggled it free at that point, that’s your prerogative. I didn’t bring up Dez. (That was a bullshit call too.)

Forgot how much I hate miami (1990 / too soon) until tonight.  Piece of shit school.

I didn't forget that shitty school.

We beat Jim Kelly's 1981 Miami team here 14-7, and then that other Miami team was the 1990 season that ended in the 1991 Cotton Bowl with Miami and fucking Russell Maryland. Fuck him!

Fuck that HORRIFIC Miami team who were exposed tonight ...... O-line can't pass protect, receivers can't run routes, DBs are steaming horseshit, etc...

In a perfect world, this pedestrian Miami team somehow lucks into a playoff run against better teams throttled by injury, opt-outs and dysentery, only to meet Texas for all the marbles. We then beat them by 45 as Heisman winner Quinn Ewers outgains Cam Ward 485-102 through the air. The end.

I'm still pissed about the 1973 Miami game. Fuck them!

I was at the 1972 game and sat in a “knothole” seat and recall Norm Schnellenberger said his team had turned the corner because they played Texas at home and kept it close.  He was right.  Also, recall Miami had a big ass running back that was tough runner.  Only 52 years ago.  lol

I believe the Canes were coached by Fran Curci that season, his last season at U before moving on to UK.

Buncha fucking appellate lawyers arguing standard of review all of a sudden.

In all seriousness….by definition, no review should ever take more than a few minutes, depending only on how many angles there are. If they don’t see something definitive right away, shut the fucker down and announce the play stands.

The 10+ minute micro analysis of each frame from each angle is gross misuse of an otherwise useful tool.

They definitely need the NFL 90 second rule

I didn’t see anything indisputable to show me that VT didn’t come down with the ball in bounds for the winning TD.

I didn’t see anything indisputable to show me that VT didn’t bobble to ball at some point until it was touched by someone out of bounds.

Either call, TD or not, should have stood. But, I’m just some random guy who watches football with no stake in the conference.

That is the gist of the argument -- unless officials had a view that was clearer than what we saw on the broadcast, then the review couldn't possibly reveal "indisputable evidence".  The call on the field should have stood.  I'd say the same thing had the call been that the pass was incomplete.

Well, you’re right.  I have that memory but guess confuse it with another time and coach.  Also seem to recall the Freddie Steinmark score board ceremony occurred but probably got that wrong too.  Lol
