There is a zero percent chance of Bama getting snubbed for an 11-2 SMU. Zero. You guys batting this notion around haven’t been paying attention.  Time and again, the committees have gone out of their ways to fuck over any and all contenders for a SEC helmet team, particularly Bama.

SMU brings nothing to the table over big brands with large audiences. They also do not deserve any form of benefit or the doubt. Beat Clemson or go get fucked.

FWIW Finebaum thinks the SEC only gets 3 teams - Texas, UGA, and Tennessee.

Pretty much this. The committee can simply point to last year and say “yea you hated on us putting them in 4th last year and then they were down on the goalline one play away from knocking out the eventual champion in an enormously entertaining and highly watched semifinal”

Should that be the thought process is debatable but to CTJs point the committee have a history that’s backed up by results.

Hasn't the committee already come out and said that teams wouldn't be punished for what happens on championship weekend? If so, I would take that to mean that SMU is in, win or lose, over bammer.

I think that was mostly Sankey and subservient talking heads saying that, IIRC.

I'm very curious to see how the committee treats CCG losses when seeding. Like would Texas or PSU drop below ND who doesn't have to play one? Seems dumb if so, but I bet they would.

If so, making the CCG and losing is 100% worse than not making it at all. Not only for seeding but also because you get one fewer week off to rest up and heal.

Should probably win it then

I feel like he’s always poor-mouthing though.

I will say, I would be highly entertained by seeing the SEC get snubbed a 4th team. The hue and cry from these idiot-laced fanbases would be glorious.

I tend to think of these rankings as pure entertainment, until the final rankings. The committee has been known to throw curve balls in the last rankings. I can’t imagine the ACC getting 2 teams in, especially a 2 loss private school. Though I would laugh my ass off if SMU got in before A&M

I think the CCG loser can play their way out if they get blown out badly. But I think most will be fine in the end. The CCG should be your opportunity to earn a bye, not miss out (assuming you’re not a 9-4 or 8-5 type team after the CCG loss)

Agreed that only the final rankings mean anything but the committee will almost certainly want to set things up now. If Alabama is going to go instead of Miami, for example, they have to be ahead of them this week. One team that doesn't play jumping another team that doesn't play will be a huge controversy. Sure they could try to say "well now Alabama's win is over the SEC champions" but it would be a lot easier just to avoid that controversy altogether and decide now who will be ahead out of those two teams.

For context - this was on Barrie’s show discussing the three current three-loss SEC teams (Bama, USCe, and Ole Miss.)

All three have their warts, so Pawl thinks the committee just excludes all three just to avoid any debate should it come down to those and one other non-SEC team such as SMU (were they to lose to Clemson.)

Something to watch for Tuesday is whether or not Duke is ranked. If they are, then it's something that they could potentially point to with SMU

Duke ranked and aggy not would be glorious

If the 5 is Notre Dame, which it very well may be. They will probably lose to the 12 outright.

But what if the fans are really polite, "loud," and do a bunch of weird swaying and cheers they practiced the night before?

It is possible.  would be great if Clemson wins and it is all 0,1,2 loss teams with Clemson, UNLV.  and Miami at 10-2, 3 loss SEC teams out.  the howling will be at 11.

Has this been discussed yet? I almost feel they should definitely snub Ole Miss now. I agree with Finnebaum, only Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee should get in. Hence why I also feel 12 is too many teams. Bama losing to OU and only getting a FG should be disqualifying enough.

Would probably push them into adding two more programs to further stretch the schedule to big10 levels, so there can be a bunch of 1 loss sec teams every year.

Alabama won head to head vs SC and has a win over UGA.

So does Ole Miss on both accounts.  S Car has somehow become a media and message board darling and I don't get it.

Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas should be the only SEC schools in the playoff.

But that assumes there are nine other teams worth a shit. So maybe a three loss regular season SEC school makes it in, but that seems stupid to me.

Along with Miami, the Big 12 CG loser and BYU should be getting consideration to go ahead of the 3 loss SEC teams also.  I don't get the lack of respect of the committee for the Big 12 vis a vis the ACC and Boise.  The power rankings have the Big 12 as the 2nd best conference.

Y’all are crazy if you think Bama is getting left out of the 1st 12 team playoff. They’re in as the 11 seed.

I think bama will be the first team out, and Carolina will be right behind them or maybe 15. Which is too bad, nobody wants any part of South Carolina and their QB.

Looking at tickets online and the Georgia side tickets are noticeably less than Texas side.

it will be interesting since both teams are in the playoff regardless people may budget for playoff rounds vs. champ game.

you would think Georgia would be more though since a lot of them are within driving distance.  That said probably a good number of  horns within driving distance and SEC championship is "new" for us.

the cachet of the Big 12 is zero.  there are 3 total national championships from the 16 teams in the conference.  There is also the west coast game times component to this.

that said, the Big 10 is the biggest fraud this year in my opinion but we will find out since because of scheduling they will get 4 in.

will be interesting if conferences start to try to "game" the scheduling
