Yeah, but similar for Texas and Penn State.

Heard a talking head this morning trying to figure out ways to leave a 2 loss Texas and/or Penn State out of CFP... said they have no good wins.

I mean if we’re going off Eye test Penn State shouldn’t be ranked ahead of Texas. It’s a coin flip with Miami, but I’d give Miami the nod due to them being undefeated.

Penn State like I said yesterday is not a top 5 team, but they’ll get in due to their schedule being weak.

its partitive Texas takes care of business these last four games.

Seems like a lot of the national media is looking for ways to keep Texas out if they lose two due to “not playing anyone”

If we lose a game that’s not the SEC championship game then I wouldn’t vote us in.

The Committee is supposedly not beholden to the polls. And it would be hard to argue that a Week 10 undefeated Big 10 team shouldn’t be ranked in the top 5 in any given season.

Another interesting development…are we looking at a scenario where Boise State captures a Top 4 seed over the Big XII champion or an ACC Champion that isn’t Miami?

I was looking at Boise yesterday and a bit shocked they're so low.  I realize they play an easy schedule, but they played Oregon closer than everyone except Ohio State and have dominated most other games.  Top 10 seems warranted, at least.

I know, but I specifically said eye test. Miami hasn’t looked that good so relax. Cam Ward and that WR have though!

Even the talking heads agree that Miami has no defense and hasn't beaten a good team. Yes, they're undefeated and have thus earned their rank, but like ND they're a paper tiger in my view.

Ward is amazing though probably the best out there... that much is pretty clear, imo.

I don't know if that's possible, but imo, a conference champion should always be seeded higher than a non-P4.5 championship. If it happens, it needs to be fixed because that's a load of shit.

national media perception is a thing. I can see where we could be left out.  the bullshit is the sec media is saying same shit. they are against us also which is bullshit but expected. the big 10 has whole heartedly accepted their additions and are talking them up every corner like Oregon as number 1. when we were number 1 our own sec media was still talking shit how we haven't played anybody. then we lose to Georgia and they say "told you they suck and aren't sec ready". what the sec media should be saying is that was a tough sec game who could play again for a championship. our sec media says we suck then the national media picks it up and there you go. fuck em all.

Holy shit... and, I could be going full regard here... and i might be wrong.. but..

I think we've found an actual thing that all of Surly agrees on aside from fact that ousux and aggie is a cult..

Can it be that we all agree Miami is a paper tiger with a great QB?

https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/42153053/projecting-college-football-playoff-top-12-week-10

1. Oregon

2. Ohio St

3. Georgia

4. Miami

5. Texas Longhorns

Quote

Why they could be here: Wins against Michigan, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt won't exactly wow the committee -- it's possible none of them are ranked on Tuesday -- but they're all above .500 and the Longhorns' lone loss is to Georgia. Texas is also No. 2 in the country in defensive efficiency, trailing only Tennessee.

Why they could be lower: Texas enters the first ranking off a bye, and with little to brag about in recent weeks. The Longhorns were fortunate to escape Vanderbilt with a 27-24 win following the double-digit home loss to Georgia. Texas gave up four sacks and had 10 penalties for 107 yards against the Commodores.

Need to know: The Longhorns will likely face only one more ranked opponent during the regular season -- rival Texas A&M. If they finish with two losses and don't play in the SEC championship game, the head-to-head losses to the Aggies and Bulldogs could knock the Longhorns out if there are other two-loss contenders with better wins. On the flip side, a win at Texas A&M would help the Longhorns on Selection Day if they finish as a two-loss SEC runner-up.

Toughest remaining game: Nov. 30 at Texas A&M

most programs have the same resume as Texas. maybe a few teams actually have great wins. this is where we need our sec media to fight back but they don't really like us either. the Vanderbilt game was not as close as the score. but push the narrative and there it is. Texas beats vandy and now they suck lmao

It is fucking bullshit to say Texas was lucky to escape Vanderbilt.  A stupid penalty that didn't affect the play kept it from being a 17 point win.

Yeah, Vandy was very fortunate not to lose by 17+

I don’t get these rankings. If Ohio St. isn’t above Oregon, they should be 5th since the top 4 spots are for the conference champs. And the Big 12 champ should be 4.

Agree wholeheartedly- problem is the perception that we’re a paper tiger in the media might keep us out of playoffs from another paper tiger that got in because their conference fluffers did their job and pushed a narrative. If Alabama or Georgia beat vandy the same way, they’d be talking vandy up as a quality win. Just win em all

The sec doesn’t want anyone ruining the “perception” that it’s a tough, brutal league. Texas coming in and winning it in the first season, after running Saban out of Bama by doing something they never could?

We need to stop giving a shit about anything other than winning out....

Oregon basically had an identical schedule including a trip to Big House.

Difference is they held serve at home and we gaped our vaginas.

The only other game that doesn't involve Texas that we should have a modicum of concern about is Bama v LSU because a Bama win puts us back in control of our SEC destiny.

pending results for the next month, a top-4 seed could go to a P4 champion ranked 5 or lower by the committee

Get a fucking grip. If Texas is 10-2 or better, they’re in the playoffs. Christ.

You mean 11-2 or 10-3 depending on champ game I suppose. Still think we’re in good shape was just responding about all the media bullshit that we suck compared to everyone else. And perception

Every time I hear national media talk about Texas they act like we're a lock to be in the CFP.

Georgia being 2 is horseshit. It should be Oregon Miami indiana Georgia Ohio State Texas.

Indiana isn't in some G5 shitter conference and they are blowing everyone out not scraping by.

  • immamac changed the title to 2024 CFB polls/rankings - Texas #5 /#5 (AP/Coaches)

Perhaps the shitty voters will actually put Indiana in above Ohio State after they beat them week after next. Which, they very well could. Maybe if they beat both Michigan (very possible) and OSU people will finally give them a bit of the nob slobbing Oregon is getting.

Indiana v Oregon common opponents.

ULCA 13 - IU 42

ULCA 13 - Oregon 34

MSU 10 - IU 47

MSU 10 - Oregon 31

Hell, see my last post, they out performed Oregon on the 2 common opponents.

Indiana is absolutely getting fucked over, more than anyone, by the voters.

Every show I watch including sec homer shows act shocked when they see our percentage to make playoff. Then they go on about how Georgia whooped our ass and we don’t belong in the sec cause we can’t handle it. I’m paraphrasing of course but that’s what it sounds like to me lmao

That's not at all what I heard in the SEC round up at the end of last night and they all had Texas in the top 5 one of them, iirc, above Georgia.

Fuck sake this place is going full Texags with media conspiracy theories and "Trust in Sark" and zero critical thinking. God damn.

Texas wins out, Texas is in the playoffs. Find me one, single, talking head that disagrees. Post a video. Enlighten me.

indiana is in great position

take care of business then win at the shoe & face the ducks on home soil:

win get a bye

lose host a playoff

lose at the shoe:

take a week off after purdue and host a playoff

hoosier is too high up the ladder for ranking to matter

the committee is going to fix the final rankings to get the brackets they want regardless of logic

remember, the committee can take anyone they want even if ranked lower than 12th

being 12th or higher only matters to a couple of g5 teams competing for their slot
