We have the same record and a close loss to the number 1 team in the country will absolutely give the clowns that seed some though to seed them higher especially seeing as our offense has sucked shit lately

There are several issues with this theory. We are ranked higher than them right now. Penn St had a trash schedule and will have lost to the only two teams with a pulse they played. Their two losses will also be worse than ours. Both of our losses will be to the #2 team in the country and the SEC champions (one of them in OT). Theirs will be to 2 loss Ohio State and PAc-10 champion #1 Oregon. They also dont have the benefit of the doubt (they are a perennially overrated team) , which is where it is nice to be a helmet school like us. We will be ahead of them.

Hasnt the committee already stated that a non conference championship team won’t benefit from the results of a championship game?

Urban legend in my opinion. The non CCG folks should have a better idea of what to expect vs their peers...than any CCG loser vs the field.

Texas will VERY likely be the 5 seed. Worst case scenario is the 6 seed. Then the committee will fuck around with the matchups. I think we will end up with the 5th best conf champ.

We have also lost to the only team with a pulse that we’ve played.  Our schedule in reality has also been dog shit. They have a loss to number 1 and 2 and we have loss to 2 and 5.  If they lose to 1 by a few points. It’s not a done deal. Oregon needs to hang a 100 on them

You look at the ranks at the end of the season man, and our losses were better. Also, we have solid wins. Our SOS was better than theirs.

I misremembered the quote. Here it is:

Teams can move up and down, but what you won't see is teams who are not playing move above or below other teams who are not playing."

Until they do…

and he has some canned response to cover his ass

but today only helped bama.

miami is hosed

So if we're 5, we get a home game against Clemson (assuming they hold on) or we're 6 we get a home game against Alabama. If we're somehow 7, we get Indiana.

Correct, but I doubt they would match us with Bama

5 would also keep us out of any Georgia rematch until the final, assuming Oregon wins?

Correct. Although I am not scared of UGA. I am absolutely positive that we would beat them if we played them again. Oregon is probably the biggest obstacle and we would see them in the SF.

This is what I expect.

And if we can someone get past Oregon I have no doubt we take it all with Arch beating UGA …and Kirby and most of the college football crying how ridiculous it is …and everyone still unhappy with an expanded playoff that everyone has been wanting forever

It only matters when you win the last game! Just ask Bama when they beat LSU in their second matchup! Or when UGA beat Bama in their second matchup.

This doesn’t really tell anything but still kind of interesting nonetheless (assumes Oregon and Clemson win):

Wins over playoff teams:

Georgia*4

Oregon* 3

Ohio state 2

Northern Illinois 1

Bama 1

Ole Miss 1

Michigan 1

Arkansas 1

Vandy 1

Oklahoma 1

Tennessee 1

Texas Tech 1

Cincinnati 1

Louisville 1

South Carolina 1

Playoff teams’ record  against fellow playoff teams:

Oregon* 3-0

Georgia* 4-1

Boise St* 0-1

Arizona St 0-0

Texas* 0-2

Notre Dame 0-0

Ohio St 2-1

Penn State* 0-2

Tennessee 1-1

Indiana 0-2

Alabama 1-1

Clemson* 0-1

*played 13 games

Running QBs can take UGA's vaunted DL out of the equation in a way we can't. Hopefully UGA gets matched up against such a team early.

I suspect there are a couple of teams in the playoffs with a mobile qb that will be kryptonite for Georgia. I don't see any team with a running game or defense that can stop Texas.

The playoffs look promising.

even with our statue and lack of a running game if we make 2 FG's we win or if we make a block on a pick.

The mobile QB helps both the running game and the OL pass pro.  we have a guy who stands in basically one spot and they just get to go head hunting.

I agree with this. Lets just be glad we might get 3 cracks at UGA this year. Imagine if we lost the national championship game like tonight. We clearly have struggled against UGA this year and this helped us diagnose our issues before the playoffs (we are much better off then we were the first time we played them).

We didn't get humiliated but the same fundamental problems on offense are still there. Seven sacks(!!!), no ground game whatsoever, and stupid penalties.

We can move the ball in the open field with screens, slants, and floated throws to open space. When we reach the redzone and those options go away we stall as usual.

I suspect if we play them a third time, you will see A LOT more Arch.

Five and six looking nice.  My concern with SMU is they will put Clemson ahead of them which means Clemson jumps Miami and the three SEC teams, one of which beat them last week.  Unless they decide Clemson jumps ASU.

1.  Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Boise
4. ASU
5. Texas/ND
6. Texas/ND
7. Ohio St.
8. Tennessee
9. Penn St.
10. Indiana
11. Clemson
12. SMU

You think Texas drops from 2 to 5, but drops from 3 to 9 having to play a road game at Tennessee?

no

I think the CFP will use close losses as an excuse to create their rankings.

1. Oregon

2. Georgia

3. Boise

4. ASU

5. Texas

6. PSU

7. Notre Dame

8. OSU

9. Tenn

10. Indiana

11. SMU (or Bama)

12. Clemson

Works out nicely with no conference rematches and it flows logically. Puts PSU and Texas on opposite sides of the bracket from their conf champ opponents.

They could fuck SMU of course. But I think the rest will fall the way I listed.

I think that’s pretty close. Accurate if bama sneaks in. If SMU makes it in I think they put Clemson a spot ahead of smu after today’s game b
