we will have to put an asterisk next to the year on the stadium.  maybe something like

National Champions - 1963, 1960, 1970, 2024*(kinda weak one TBH)

I'm tired, I thought you were arguing with me. Read your post 3 times before I started laughing.

Put it on the wall.

I'm going to bed, fuck this dumb shit.

God I do not see how they would make Texas behind Penn st.  Not only were we ranked 2 and they 3 this week.  We lost in OT.  We shouldn’t be put behind them.

They won’t. Texas has a better resume than them by every possible metric.

I could see them putting ND above us.

I’m seeing a lot of people slotting Ohio State over Penn State (head-to-head) and slotting Ohio State over Texas. The possibilities truly are endless

Neither should be seeded above us.

1) We played a tougher SOS.

2) Ohio State has a much worse loss (Michigan) and Penn State's loss (Ohio State) is worse than Georgia based on seeding.

3) Penn State has struggled with some bad teams in USC, Minnesota, and Bowling Green (all single digit wins).

4) Ohio State didn't play for CCG.

Explain this like I’m 5…the -number is better than the positive?

SMU is favored. It means you have to risk 290 dollars to win 100. In Bama's case, you have to risk 100 to win 210. But that has swung drastically over the last hour towards Bama

CBS sports has us at 3..  lol

Probably #3 overall, behind #1 Oregon and #2 Georgia. That means they have us at #5. That is correct.

Thanks! I get lost on the betting structures sometimes.

I know it sounds crazy but the 7 seed might be an easier path to the championship game than the 5 seed.

If Beck isn't able to throw a ball in a month and you have multiple weeks to prepare for what they have? And after that you get one of Boise, Penn State and Clemson/SMU? I dunno. Sounds more appealing than a semifinal matchup with Oregon.

agree.  I think the committee should send a signal that we don't give a shit about ND but they won't.  the problem with 6 is the only logical 11 team is Bama, 7 pits us with Georgia in quarters.  my guess is we get 6 against Bama.

I love how the number of losses matters greatly but who you lost to and where matters so little.

I think we get the 5 seed and Bama goes to Happy Valley.

I honestly think they don’t want conference games in round 1 and will manipulate accordingly. I also think they will try to avoid Texas and Georgia in round 2 for the third time.

with likely home games at Texas, Penn state, ND and Ohio State, that means having anyone other than Texas at the 7.

If Alabama gets in (likely at 11) they will move us to the 5 to avoid them and play Clemson at 12.

If SMU gets in we will be 5 or 6 likely against Clemson or SMU (or possibly Indiana).

If we draw SMU and then Boise State there are going to be so many people bitching about BOMC and how we rigged it.

Thats why I want it.  Big Bad Texas getting a huge benefit is the only thing that will move the needle to change this to "conf champs get in, but we rank 1-12". Kirby Smart will be breaking down doors of the CFP and throwing laptops around the room.

To be fair, I think SMU, Boise, and ASU are all salty teams and could beat anyone in the field on a particular day but I think we can beat them on the lines, which only Georgia has been able to do.  I would love to run the table with that draw. play Georgia's backup in the final, win it all and watch the complete meltdown.

agree but we didn't play Bama this year so I think that is why they might do it.

I really want to hear the story about how Texas caused the death penalty. Texas was one of the few SWC schools that didn't get some kind of major probation at this time. Aggy was on major probation in three major sports and by rule of "lack of institutional control" should have gotten the death penalty. The only thing that saved them was that the NCAA saw what the death penalty did to SMU's athletic program, which was destroy it. The didn't want to do that again and Aggy survived.

The only thing Texas got in trouble for was when Marcus Dupree was on his recruiting visit to Texas, he walked out of a Western Outfitter store wearing a pair of full quill ostrich boots and the store clerk threatened to call the cops, so the assistant coach with him had to pay for the boots.

It was great that after Dupree went to OU, that in the Texas vs. OU game that a Texas linebacker not only knocked Dupree out of the game, but completely out of college football. He surfaced later in the USFL football league.

SMU odds keep creeping down in Vegas, down to -290, Bama at +210

That's Vegas taking advantage of stupid people. They set that number where they did inviting these dumb bets knowing full well SMU is out. I wouldn't be surprised if Vegas books have a direct contact within the committee and know almost for sure what it'll be.

My final prediction for the night. See yall in the AM.

If you take the committee at their word on not punishing teams playing today #1-10 has to be correct.

It seems like most people think Georgia will “pick” the Sugar Bowl, but wouldn’t it make more sense for them to play in the Peach Bowl in their own state and basically a pseudo-home game?

I get that the Sugar generally is an SEC game, but I thought the schools can choose their pre-final bowls based on seeding.

Taking the Bowl QF ties into consideration, I think it shakes out

1. Oregon

2. Georgia

3. Clemson

4. Arizona State

5. Texas

6. Penn State

7. Notre Dame

8. Ohio State

9. Tennessee

10. Indiana

11. Boise St

12. Alabama

SMU deserves the 12 spot over Bama, and as a Texas fan Id rather face a little brother like SMU than the coach that ended our last two seasons with a loss. But it'll be Bama. No one gives a shit about SMU.

Texas narrative will be beat a big SEC legacy team (plus deboer) then the champ of our old conference.

The Orange Bowl is gonna want Clemson instead of Boise

So what, it was obvious to anyone what was happening. Little SMU went from nothing to a power and anyone and everyone knew why. Even the Governor of Texas was in on it. Like it would never come out if Texas hadn't turned them in if they did. There have been documentaries made about what SMU did. That is totally asinine

The least exciting TV matchup. So probably the one with Indiana in it.

The least attractive matchups will likely be scheduled for the first two Saturday games, i.e the ones broadcast on TNT and going up against NFL games. Friday and Saturday prime time will get the best two.

The SEC champ goes to the Sugar Bowl. It’s contracted, at least through this year.

I think we match up well with Bama as long as we put a spy on Milroe and run the ball accordingly on O.

Does Texas know that???

sorry still pissed from last night. Ima just say this, Texas offense imo doesn’t do well with big athletic defensive fronts, Ark, A&M and UGA.  Alabama falls into that category, I believe Bamas LB’s aren’t as good as UGA but their secondary is. Bama may be trouble counting on our offense to score points. Don’t look at how other offenses move the ball on teams, we don’t have that type of QB and if they can shut down our Running game we’re in trouble. Bama definitely has the players to do it to.

I would think the committee would try and avoid matching up conference teams in round 1. Of course this is the first year of the 12 team playoff but I would assume they would try to mix and match teams the best they can and not have same conference matchups until the semi finals. Maybe easier said than done but if they did that then they might drop Texas to 6 and avoid the bama matchup or have smu at 12 and keep Texas at 5. I’d be shocked if they leave bama out but I would love every second of it.

It was Richard Peavy, a DB.

Here’s an Internet projection which I think might be accurate.  Of course, ND gets rewarded for not having to play for conference championship.  If selection committee has hard on for Texas, they probably swap Ohio St at #4 for us.

The Top 25 College Football Playoff Rankings

1. (13-0) Oregon Ducks
2. (11-2) Georgia Bulldogs +3
3. (11-1) Notre Dame Fighting Irish +1
4. (11-2) Texas Longhorns -2
5. (10-2) Ohio State Buckeyes +1
6. (11-2) Penn State Nittany Lions -3
7. (10-2) Tennessee Volunteers
8. (11-1) Indiana Hoosiers +1
9. (12-1) Boise State Broncos +1
10. (11-2) SMU Mustangs -2
11. (9-3) Alabama Crimson Tide
12. (11-2) Arizona State Sun Devils +3
13. (10-3) Clemson Tigers +4
14. (10-2) Miami Hurricanes -2
15. (9-3) Ole Miss Rebels -2

No. Are you 12? Why do they matter more than any other team?

They beat us twice. A national champion with two losses to the same team in a season doesn't sound like a national champion.

CFB is now NFL-lite. No one cares anymore, losses don't matter.
