I think there is enough noise in the records and teams with bad losses that they will build the bracket they want and can point to any specific piece of data to justify it.

I’ve seen people make the case that osu should be as high as 5 (which is absurd to reward them for that loss to um), Texas as low as 8 & psu as low as 9 having to play at Tennessee.

If they want the conference championships to mean anything, and to not make lane kiffin right, and to not have teams in a good spot try to game the rankings by intentionally losing their last game to avoid the conference championships, Texas can’t be lower than 6 and psu can’t be lower than 7. And that’s if you think ND should be 5. If they really want to show that teams won’t be punished for playing in a conference championship game, Texas has to be 5 and psu has to be 6. Moving Texas or psu below 6 is doing exactly what they said they weren’t going to do by punishing teams for losing their conference championship.

I think the only bracket that makes sense by not punishing teams in conference championships and avoiding uga-ut and psu-ore rematches is:

5. Texas - smu

6. psu - clemson

7. nd - iu

8. osu - tenn

100% agree

I haven’t really watched any one else play except us. Who has a good defense in the playoffs that would give us trouble like UGA?

The problem is that we made the UGA defense look better than it is. They're the best defense we played, but it's nowhere near the level they've had in years' past. They gave up 41 to Bama, 31 to MSST, 28 to Ole Miss, 21 to UMASS, and 27 to GT (before OT)...and what do we do?  Score a lowly 15 in the first game and 16 in the second (before OT). So any of the teams could give us issues but we obviously want to play teams with a smaller DL we can just push around and lean on our running game, because getting to the opponent's 27 yard line or better 6 times and having to attempt a field goal all 6 times isn't going to cut it.

It’s a shame we hadn’t recently discovered a package for a mobile QB that could have been effective in the red zone

Haven't kept up with Notre Dame because fuck them but is aggy  the best team they've played?

Murderers row if you ask me.  I can't think of any other team in the country that could get that schedule and only lose one game to Northern Illinois.

A&M

Northern Illinois

Purdue

Miami, OH

Lousiville

Stanford

Georgia Tech

Navy

FSU

Virginia

Army

USC

There's a lot of good in there.  First, they make sense, but looking at the travel distances, only one is even close to a difficult drive for fans of the road team:

Texas - SMU 200 miles

Penn State - Clemson 650 miles

Notre Dame - Indiana 200 miles

Ohio State - UTenn 360 miles

I think Bama would beat the brakes off of SMU, but that’s an eye test/vibes deal not based on any metrics.

Like they beat the brakes off OU and Vandy? The only things Bama has are a win over Georgia and their helmet.

Here is my call for the next 4 games. We play SMU first and win by 10, then Az St and win by 10, then Ohio St and win by 3, then Georgia and win by 7.

I think this is accurate, but you should add that after that happens, Kirby Smart and the whole world will complain that they won 2 out of 3 and should be the real national champions.  It wasn't fair to make them have to beat a team three times in one year.

Fuck Notre Dame, they should be the 12th seed if in at all.

Probably not that extreme, but they shouldnt be hosting.

They can complain to Deez Nutz. I wonder if the New England Patriots shouldve tried complaining after they lost in 2007.

calm down bro.  I don't agree with what will happen just stating what will happen.  No, the patriots lost the last game of the year and didn't win the title even though they beat the Giants earlier that year.  That is why you have a last game, winner take all playoffs.

It is amusing watching Bama fans flail about over maybe being left out with many whining that "we should never commit to a tough home and home again in our out of conference schedule". Yeah, your OOC isn't what is going to cost you a spot. It's losing to two 6-6 conference teammates.

I am just tired of people saying that. Would it suck if the shoe was on the other foot, yes it would. But you have to win the games that are the most important. UGA lost their most important game last year and it cost them big. If we make it back to face them and win, I will feel 0% guilt for winning the championship and aggy can asterisk all day if they want, I dont give a shit.

Yup it’s the losses to SEC teams, but they aren’t too off in making the point that there’s no reason to schedule hard OOC games anymore.

Well let's be honest here. Did Bama have a lot of risk playing Wisconsin or South Florida this year?

Effectively yes, but the committee could lower them and they are only guaranteed a bye if they are in the committee’s top 4 conference champions. The committee dropped FSU to 5th last year based on the QB being out.

Dude stop, this isnt even close to the same thing, they just won the SEC title with their backup. FSU got knocked because their backup looked like a middle schooler trying to throw the ball. They are the 2 seed even if they come out and announce that Beck is dead.

And put Boise State or Arizona State at the 2 spot? Come on man.
