FINAL 2024 CFB polls/rankings - Texas #3/ #4 /#3 (CFP/AP/Coaches)

I think it would be pretty crazy if we aren't a 5 or 6.

Seems almost like a lock that we're playing Boise State or ASU in the quarters. The only fuckery that's on the table is if they want a Texas vs Alabama 1st round match-up when reality is it should probably be Clemson or SMU.

Preferred 1st round match up is SMU, Clemson, and Alabama in that order.

You can't have Clemson ranked below SMU with the conference championship data point and victory over them in the CCG.

Clemson wasn't anywhere close to the playoff and won on a walk-off FG. ASU was going to be #12 until that happened.

They still are a conference champion and beat SMU.....no fucking way they're ranked behind SMU because of that.

Clemson, Oregon, and Penn State don't have any defense up front like what we saw, but they're capable of playing up and Oregon has a much better offense than Georgia. Sark needs to be ready to make the difficult decision when it needs to be made. He failed at that today.

Lol it isn’t happening man. Y’all gotta give this up.

Why would Clemson be 12 and SMU 11 when they just beat them for the conference title?

That prediction would be based on Clemson being below #12 in the rankings but the 12th seed as an auto bid for winning the conference. So something like

9. Boise State 10. SMU 11. Alabama 12. Miami 13. Arizona State 14. Ole Miss 15. Clemson

would do it.

Playing ASU in their backyard would suck but that’s the bed we made.

oregon choosing to play us in Miami to avoid a semi in our backyard would be funny though

Counterpoint...

Here is my projection:

Oregon - 1

Georgia -2

Arizona St - 3

Boise St -4

Texas 5 - Clemson 12

Penn State 6 - Alabama 11

Notre Dame 7 - Indiana 10

Ohio State 8 - SMU 9

Where's Tennessee? They're in

Alright.  Calling it a night.  I’m going to bed thinking the Big XII commissioner was absolutely right: the logos on the side of the helmet absolutely DO matter, forget what you think is fair, and recognize that ratings matter.  All of this bespeaks of SMU getting fucked, and I think they absolutely will.  Hello Bama.  Now it’s just about matchups.  Do they want Texas v Bama or Clemson and how do you flip-flop various seeds to make that happen?

Posted

I Keep seeing this sentiment and it's so annoying. Alabama isn't 9-3 because they played a difficult schedule. They're 9-3 because they lost to the 12th and 13th placed teams in the SEC.

There is nothing that states the 5th conference champion autobid is slotted to the 12 seed

Finish the post. They're #12 if they're the 5th of the 5 and ranked below #11.

Then we won't win the national championship unless we miraculously never face a defense with a front 7 that can attack an immobile QB and take him out of his comfort zone. No more Kentucky or Aggy left.

Way off, Clemson at 9 is batshit

OK, swap them out with Tennessee. I think the committee will be looking at regional matchups first.

Ok. Probs don’t watch then because it isn’t going to happen at this point.

Would be happy with 5 or 6 in this projection.

6 would be Boise in quarters and then rematch with Georgia again.

Markets and ratings matter most.

Clemson is a former champion team, but not a helmet.

Bama is a helmet

SMU is a feel good underdog story.

Texas vs Clemson is a team "on the way back" vs a "teams trying to hold onto championship level play".

Gotta spread helmets around.

Clemson vs Texas is also cross regional. More market.

Nobody outside Texas gives a fuck about Texas vs SMU.

Money drives this.

Texas vs Clemson is way more likely than SMU or Bama. (Spread the helmets and nope on regional match inside one state)

Their punter is done. That's a torn ligament if I've ever seen one.

It all depends if Beck can be ready in 3 weeks. If his throwing elbow is fucked and they have to go with this guy as the starter? They might lose the sugar bowl.

Pretty decent chance we fucked up UGA's season. I am very confident if we rematch them.

Lol, imagine giving a fuck about something like that after winning a title. I ask again, are you 12?
No, I'm 13.

You look like a weaker "national champion" when your own conference mate beat your ass twice in a season. Yes, truly a legitimate number one team for the ages.

Of course we'd all take a national championship, but two losses to Georgia cheapens it a little bit. One loss, fine. But two and we're just the playoff champion that was lucky to not have to play Georgia a third time.

Reminds me of '03 when both USC and LSU were "national champions." In the '05 season there was no doubt we were the best. I'm saying it'd feel a hell of a lot better if we got to beat them on the way there.

Ross Dellinger's an idiot. Those are horrible TV matchups and SMU isnt going to be in. No one wants to see Indiana at Texas. Same with Clemson at Penn St and SMU at ND. There would only be 1 premier TV matchup with Tenn at OSU in that bracket and they aren't doing that. Also, no one wants to see Texas and Georgia in the 2nd round.

This is fucking stupid. Imagine the Cowboys losing to the Eagles twice in divisional play and then winning the fucking Super Bowl. Nobody would give a fuck about Philadelphia.

Lulz... dude I call it now. If Texas goes on the win the title (which I'm NOT calling) you won't give a flying fuck about what happened in prior games against Georgia.

And Georgia ain't making the final. They aren't that good.

No reason it should happen.

I’m seeing a lot of people slotting Ohio State over Penn State (head-to-head) and slotting Ohio State over Texas. The possibilities truly are endless

I would be too. If beck doesn’t play we’ll be ready for the  backup.

if they make it. But Kirby is really goid at coaching big games and I don’t know any team can beat them but bama, OSU, Oregon maybe and us.

Lol we beat Michigan who they lost to. Both our losses are to the #2 team, OSU lost to #1 and #90. We are ahead of them.

We choked that game away and they got lucky as fuck on a bunch of fumbles. And that was with us playing pretty poorly. Also it was in their backyard. Not worried.

What happened in OUR backyard?

It's moot, cause Georgia ain't making the final but Kirby out coached Sark twice this season already, and won in OT with a one armed hop along.

we will have to put an asterisk next to the year on the stadium.  maybe something like

National Champions - 1963, 1969, 1970, 2005, 2024*(kinda weak one TBH)

None of it matters now. The next 4 games are the only thing that matter this season.

God I do not see how they would make Texas behind Penn st.  Not only were we ranked 2 and they 3 this week.  We lost in OT.  We shouldn’t be put behind them.

Exactly. We all remember how the 2011 New York Giants returned the Lombardi Trophy because they lost to Washington twice and didn't play them in the playoffs.

Oh wait, no we don't remember that because they didn't give a fuck after they won the championship.

Nobody will care how we won a National Championship, you included.
