I'd be willing to bet the neighborhood hired the band or they have the approval of the neighbors.

Q and Magats have been protesting outside of targeted households for a long time.

They also deluge people they don't like with death threats.

That neighborhood and area is not going to allow it to continue for too long. And while their first reaction will be to ask the city/cops to remove the protesters, the homeowner's group wouldn't have a problem telling Ted to find another place to live.

Maybe a neighbor can kick his ass?

Indeed, they've invaded capitols and plotted the kidnapping and executions of politicians they didn't agree with.  Luckily law enforcement was able to intervene in that case.

Some mariachis playing outside someone's house seems like a lighthearted school prank in comparison.

Yes, federal judges who ruled against Trump have had their addresses posted online.

Ted Cruz chose to represent the people of Texas - having them protest his (in)actions is part of the territory.  And since he doesn't host town halls and they aren't going to kick the maximum donation to his 2024 Senate/White House bids, there's no other way to get his attention.

A spokesperson for the Satanic Temple:

“It grows tedious when pedophile priests and loathsome politicians are conveniently dismissed as Satanic, even as they spew Biblical verse and prostrate themselves before the cross, recruiting the Christian faithful. Satanists will have nothing to do with them.

I have mixed feelings about people picketing outside of politician's homes. Would we want a reasonable moderate politician to be faced with Q-Anon protesters outside they're house for days or months?

But, Ted deserves his punishment for his lack of service to Texans. No one asked him to be a senator and now he has to deal with unhappy constituents.

Regardless I feel sorry for his neighbors having to deal with protesters and living next to Ted.  shudder.

his neighbors could sell their homes within hours and make a nice profit. they'll be fine

Funny, but that song also legit gets stuck in my head all the time at random for no good reason.  I think I watched Vacation too many times growing up.

Damn you, Lindsey Buckingham and your infectious voice and guitar riffs.

Thanks, I now have Holiday Road stuck in my head for the thousandth time.

Watched Vacation too many times as a kid as well.

No, it's pure rawk fun.  Maudlin sentiment will come later.

I spent some time on it, and It was worth every minute to come home from 10 days on the road and see Mrs. Fuck's face when our 7 year old was singing "Bitchin' Camaro" at the top of his lungs.

What a family the Cruz' are. His wife was once found by APD by the train tracks pilled out and suicidal. His own daughter is repulsed by him and instinctually recoils in horror when he tries to show her affection. He ditched his entire family in Mexico with his college roommate after realizing he made a political mistake, then threw his daughters under the bus. He sat idly by while Trump called his dad a murderer and his wife ugly, and over time ended up becoming one of Trump's most loyal sycophants and pawns.

Ted Cruz. Texan. Patriarch. Alpha Male.

In Heidi’s defense, pilled out and suicidal is a very rational response to being married to Ted.

"I heard about your honeymoon, Ted.  Just terrible.  I knew that girl was a slut the second I met her.  Hey, don't make excuses, Heidi's a dimestore hooker and she always will be. Just put it behind you."    /baldwin

From Krugman's article in the NYTimes:

Quote

Many families probably can’t afford to pay those bills, so we’re potentially looking at a wave of personal bankruptcies. And even those who don’t face ruin are, predictably, outraged.

Possibly the most revealing remark of the Texas crisis so far was a tweet by, of all people, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Cancún), who fumed that “no power company should get a windfall because of a natural disaster” and called on “state and local regulators” to “prevent this injustice.”

Re whacked out Heidi on the highway, that was probably in response to Ted's affair. Yes, there are two women on the planet who have invited Ted Cruz's dong inside their vaginas. The story was the talk of the town among Houston Dem insiders six or so years ago. Supposedly Heidi's therapist spilled this info to some buddies over margaritas, and then they told their friends, and so on.

Because it's all still rumor, I will share the side piece's identity blind item style.

This high powered alleged ex-mistress shares a common background to Ted, right down to Baptist high schools in the Bayou city and Ivy league law degrees.  Federalist society, clerking for Neanderthal judges, and so on. One might believe she first solicited his attention when he was her general in Austin circa 2004 and 2005.

In other words, around the same time Heidi left her dream job in DC to come stand by her man in Austin, where on August 22, 2005, she was found at ten PM weeping in the grass on the corner of Enfield and Mopac.

She was suffering from major depression, she said. I read the official police report from that incident and it seems she might have told the cop that same thing, but it seems like there was something more to it. It's heavily redacted, but it looks like he offered to have her taken to a hospital for a psychiatric check up, but she refused. She said she'd rather call her [redacted], or "get a ride home from police." The cop's response is heavily redacted. "I then relayed to Cruz, based on what I had seen and heard [three whole lines of redacted words.]"

And the report closes with "I then transported Cruz to [redacted.]

Questions: Who was it she wanted to call?  Mother? BFF? Why would calling a third party be something you'd consider in that situation if the only thing you were dealing with was depression? Or why would you want the police to escort you there? (The Cruz house was maybe a ten minute walk away.) There was something, or someone, in that home that set her off.

And it looks like the cop took her somewhere other than her marital home that night.

My reading is she was depressed, but we are not getting the full story as to why. It's been written off as her giving up her DC career, but I think there could be some undefeatedness going on here too.

Wow this is rich and overtaxed, even for Ted

Cruz also said: “Look, I haven’t had this much negative press coverage since Northern California in the 1960s,” referring to the serial killer called “The Zodiac Killer,” whom Cruz has jokingly been compared to in the past.

ok...I chuckled at that a bit, I am ashamed to say.

More from that interview:

Quote

“Heidi is smoking hot, so I said ‘Man, you look great,’” Mr. Cruz said. “I don’t think there are many women who would be thrilled to have reporters following them around taking pictures of them in their bikinis and sticking them in the pages of the New York Post, but that’s what goes by journalism these days.”

Mr. Cruz said his wife was angry that her text messages, first published by The New York Times, inviting their Houston neighbors to travel with them to Cancún in the midst of statewide power outages had been leaked and was investigating who betrayed her confidence. Mr. Cruz said he suspected it was one of his Democratic neighbors.

“She was over at our neighbor’s house walking through it,” he said. “We have folks on our street who put up Beto signs, which I thought was pretty rude.”
