Carpetbagging weasel faced smarmy little bitch, Ted Cruz

Recommended Posts

I think the thing that makes this douchenozzle my most hated politician is just how extreme he is with this kind of pandering.  He knows better.  He knows exactly what she means- what are the predicate offenses?

No cop or prosecutor is going to go up to someone and say, "I'm charging you with the crime of Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act."

Regardless of the context, it's a bold move for him to bring up RICO in light of what his orange master is facing.

Woah. Ted Cruz’s Super PAC just reported receiving $214,752.98 from iHeartMedia in February in a new FEC filing.

iHeartMedia is a registered lobbyist—they also host and market his podcast.Image
Also—after filming his podcast in an iHeart studio for years, he mysteriously stopped filming them a month ago.

The same month his PAC gets a couple hundred thousand dollars from them?Image
The Senate ethics rules prohibit senators from “knowingly accepting a gift from a registered lobbyist” or from collecting honorarium for an “appearance, speech, or article.”

iHeartMedia has spent $915,000 lobbying Congress last quarter.Image

https://jalopnik.com/senator-ted-cruz-forces-amendment-into-faa-bill-to-give-1851372324

Quote

Congress desperately needs to pass a bill to fund the Federal Aviation Administration for the next four years before a short-term funding extension runs out in May. It’s a big enough deal that even Republicans aren’t willing to roll the dice on whether or not air travel can safely continue without reauthorizing the FAA. That doesn’t mean, however, that they aren’t going to try to sneak their pet projects into the reauthorization bill. Senator Ted Cruz, for example, wants lawmakers to be guaranteed a police escort through the airport when they travel.

Quote

The Dallas Morning News reports that Cruz’s amendment would guarantee a police escort through the airport for the president’s cabinet, federal judges and members of Congress if they face a security threat. What danger lawmakers would be in while walking through the airport remains unclear since the Transportation Safety Administration won’t let you bring more than 3.4 ounces of mustard through security, much less a bomb or knife. Still, this is a very important issue for Cruz, the ranking member on the Senate Commerce Committee, who insists it’s a bipartisan security measure.

Quote

In a statement, Senate Republican Commerce Committee spokesperson Melissa Braid said:

The airport security amendment was drafted in a bipartisan manner to address the growing number of serious threats against justices, judges, public officials, and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. It passed out of committee unanimously by voice vote and was included in the Senate’s bipartisan FAA reauthorization bill. With rising security incidents at airports, this amendment ensures that when law enforcement determines a threat exists, reasonable security measures will be taken to keep everybody safe.

Spoiler

This amendment comes only a couple of years after Ted Cruz was caught fleeing to Mexico for a warm vacation during a deadly power outage caused by a winter storm that killed hundreds. The backlash was so serious that Cruz flew back to Texas the next day. “It was obviously a mistake and, in hindsight, I shouldn’t have done it. I was trying to be a dad,” he told reporters at the time.

If you’re thinking the amendment he added to the FAA reauthorization bill is related to that incident, though, his staff wants to make it clear that that’s definitely not the case since lawmakers would still have to wait at the terminal with their security detail. So don’t even think it. It’s a completely separate issue.

Cruz has made a name for himself over the years as one of the most unlikable people ever, with former House speaker John Boehner previously saying, “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.” Senator Lindsey Graham has also expressed a similar sentiment, saying, “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”

Boehner and Graham are far from the only people to voice their distaste for Cruz. President George W. Bush kept his opinion on Cruz short, saying only, “I just don’t like the guy.” Ann Coulter expounded a little more, saying, “Just look at Cruz’s face: it’s got career scum politician, aka liar, written all over it,” while President Trump once said, “He’s a nasty guy. Nobody likes him. Nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him.”

The scrutiny continues. What will Snowflake do? Ted, not the dog.

Watchdog groups say Texas Sen. Ted Cruz 'brazenly violated' Federal Election Campaign Act

Quote

Two campaign finance watchdog groups on Tuesday formally asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, over possible violations connected to more than $630,000 in corporate contributions from iHeartMedia to Cruz's 2024 reelection campaign.

In their complaint, the Campaign Legal Center and End Citizens United, allege that Cruz violated the Federal Election Campaign Act after iHeartMedia, a San Antonio-based audio media company that publishes the senator's podcast, made deposits to a super political action committee connected to Cruz's reelection campaign, which then reported the payments as "digital revenue" or "digital income" as opposed to campaign contributions.

"This type of funding risks putting the priorities of wealthy special interests above everyone else and makes our political process more vulnerable to corruption," Erin Chlopak, Campaign Legal Center’s senior director of campaign finance, said in a statement after filing the investigation request.

In 2022, iHeartMedia entered into a syndication agreement with Cruz to be the host platform for the Texas junior senator's "Verdict with Ted Cruz" podcast.

Previously, the media titan has said the funds in question are "associated with ad sales" from Cruz's podcast and directed questions over the finance reporting to the Truth and Courage PAC, an arm of Cruz's reelection campaign.

Ethics complaints have arisen from the 2022 deal's announcement, and, in Tuesday's request to the Federal Election Commission, the two groups echoed those concerns, pointing to the arrangement and payments as possible violations of federal law.

"The most reasonable and logical inference to be drawn from these circumstances, however, is that Cruz requested or directed, and iHeartMedia agreed, that iHeartMedia would transmit these funds to TCP, which then would use the funds to support Cruz’s candidacy," the complaint filed Tuesday reads.

Citing five receipts dating back to 2023 that the watchdog groups allege have been incorrectly filed — the largest of which, nearly $215,000, was reported in February — they say the relationship and campaign finance reporting by the Truth and Courage PAC violate campaign finance law and should be seen as "soft money," or contributions received, transferred, solicited or spent outside of the parameters of federal campaign finance law.

I'm of the opinion that nothing's going to happen with this. the FEC has been sidelined for over five years, I used to follow the chair, Ellen Weintraub on Twitter before Musk ruined the platform ( I had no account but hers was public). She was a by-the-book kind of official but that only works when people actually read the book and agree to follow it. Yeah, that's gone.

Bold flex considering your own radio corruption, Ted.

I'm on a Cancun radio, whoah-oh.

I'm on a Cancun radio, whoah-oh.

I forget the rest of the lyrics, but you get the idea and the poor timing of this by Ted.  But I almost respect the play since none of his base will give fuck one about the convenience of all of it.

Sorry to disappoint.  However, my CB handle was "the French Fry".

That's a trick question.  We all know Ted Cruz doesn't have any self-respect.   Or a soul.

Or a spine. He's basically a large billowy asshole.
