Nobody votes for Ted Cruz. They vote for the 'R' next to his name. That's all it takes in Texas.

So, yeah, he didn't show up to the game in Ann Arbor, but you know that walking, talking cursed Tiki idol with a beard with slicked-back hair is going to show up in Austin on October 19 while Hot Wheels makes some stupid state pride bet with Kemp, putting a Whataburger up against a Chick-fil-A sandwich.

I was visiting my 87 year old mom last weekend and she asked me if I had called my congressman to complain about them getting rid of AM radio.  "Uh, no mother, I haven't."  "Well, the communists are trying to do that because they want to get rid of the conservatives in radio."

We had some discussion about whether it was some kind of legislative initiative or not; turns out a few automakers just want to stop putting radios in cars.  Not exactly communist stuff.

At the end of it all she said that Ted Cruz's office had sent her a nice thank you note about it.  So you see, he does more than just podcasts.

Wheels and Kemp should bet on who gets Ted and MTG.

Can we get some folks together to convince homeboy not go to the Georgia game?

Just like Michigan, Georgia is a battleground state - doubt he wants to show up and cheer on a visiting team there, especially when that visiting team demolishes the home team.

You do know where the Georgia game is being played, right? It’s not in a battleground state.

Shit, I thought it was at Georgia for some reason this year.

Still, I don't think he has the balls to piss off any Georgians, else Donnie will send a stream of truths about his wife or dad.

I think it’s already well established that he has no balls.

He won't piss off Georgians if he curses Texas, and our state is dumb enough to re-elect him anyway.

So, yeah, I agree that Texas is definitely a long shot, but they clearly state their criteria for classifying the state as such.

And the last two polls cited by 538 show it within that margin.

I ain't going to let a well-founded, but still defeatist, outlook on the statewide results keep me from going out to vote or encouraging/cajoling/guilting/bludgeoning others with the same mindset as me from doing the same.

I don't know if it was 270 or one of the other sites/blogs, but one of them was talking about *drumroll please* the things we do - that there are enough votes in the major cities/counties to flip the state if we got people out to vote. They mentioned going forward that it's something that they will be including. I'll try to find it.

There's also some noise about LULAC stirring shit up because Paxton is waging war against them - Just like Putin managed to get Finland and Sweden off the fence, Paxton and Co. maybe getting LULAC more heavily involved in the state.  I hate what that elderly woman went through, but it seems to have brought some clarity for some in regard to what Paxton thinks of them.

Quote

Recent actions by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton have sparked serious concerns about civil rights violations targeting Latino citizens. Paxton has been aggressively targeting and harassing Latino-led organizations, such as the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), as well as individual citizens. This isn't just alarming—it's a clear violation of their civil rights, reflecting a troubling pattern of voter suppression and intimidation.

In Texas, where Latinos represent 40.2% of the population—the largest ethnic group in the state—these actions are particularly worrisome. As a majority-minority state, with Latinos, African Americans, and Asian Americans together constituting 58% of the population, these raids are having a chilling effect on civic participation within these communities. This underscores a broader, more concerning strategy aimed at suppressing minority voices.

For context on this recent matter, on August 20, 2024, Lidia Martinez, an 87-year-old LULAC member with 35 years of dedicated service, went through an experience that no one should ever face. Her home was raided by officers executing a warrant authorized by Paxton. Despite her full cooperation, Lidia was subjected to hours of intense interrogation, and her personal belongings, including voter registration materials, were seized. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident—four other LULAC members have been similarly targeted, fostering a climate of fear that chills community engagement.

This pattern goes beyond isolated incidents, including the recent removal of over one million voters from Texas voter rolls in August 2024, disproportionately affecting Latino, African American, and Asian American citizens. These actions reveal a deliberate strategy to suppress and marginalize minority communities. Similar challenges are being faced in other states like Georgia, Florida, and Arizona, where voter suppression efforts are also targeting these groups.

LULAC will not stand idly by. We're launching a "Know Your Rights" campaign to empower individuals to protect themselves when law enforcement comes knocking and to recognize and combat voter suppression and intimidation. We’ve already filed a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice and are working with several civil rights organizations and congressional partners to push for a thorough investigation. Additionally, we’ve assembled a team of pro bono attorneys who are ready to defend the voting rights of Latino voters across the country.

While Texas is currently the epicenter, we remain vigilant to ensure that voting rights are not infringed upon through intimidation or interference in any state. If you notice similar issues in your state, please contact us at info@lulac.org.

LULAC is committed to standing strong in the face of these challenges. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our mission.

It's good to hear they might be getting off the sidelines--assuming they were.

When I was growing up, there was a much smaller share of the population who identified as Hispanic in my hometown than today. Still, plainly stated, LULAC was not an organization that anyone wanted to fuck with back in the 1970s or 1980s as they aggressively protected the rights of the town's non-Anglo population. And, given the ages cited of the abuelitas raided by Paxton's goons, it may well have been perceived as an outdated organization by the state's Latino population (I really don't know but can say they'd been off my personal radar for a long, long time).

Now, given that this small town largely reflects the state's demographics where Hispanics are about 45% and Anglos are about the same, I really do hope that complacent folk return to their grandparents'/parents' roots and open their damned eyes. That said, O&G still rules the roost in many parts of rural West and South Texas, so it'll remain an uphill battle for some time since the widespread perception is that the "Demoncrats" are an imminent threat to those high-paying jobs.

Don't get me wrong. I understand the fear of the threat than the actual, real-world one, but most of the roughnecks/rednecks/roustabouts (Black, Brown, or White) don't have much of an education and haven't been shown an alternative to what they've come to believe.

Here’s hoping that Allred’s “Cruz Curse” ad gets its legs. And that social media in our Lone Star state blows up with the assertion he could curse the game. The game is before the election. Cruz is a coward. Fingers crossed.

Of course, it don’t make a shit.

Someone could always make a call to his office and suggest that if he goes to the game he might suffer an "accident".  You might want to do it from a burner phone though.

I bet making that twitter post is the closest Rafael has been to pussy in years.

Sept 11th is a difficult anniversary for many in this country . Some simply reflect on the somber tragedy of thousands of Americans perishing in unimaginable ways. Others pull on their latex bodysuit and jerk off to Milf Porn. Who am I to say which is more appropriate?

That MF is the furthest thing from a servant leader. Everything he does is to draw attention to himself.

you know what would happen if every single candidate suddenly switched parties the night before everyone voted? the republican nominees would win every single race with 95% of the vote because the democrats would still vote for their candidates while the republicans only vote for the R. beto and bernie could be presidential running mates with a campaign based on outlawing guns, free abortions for teens, and making islam the national religion, and if they ran as republicans then all of our dumbass republican neighbors and family members would still vote for them anyway.
