Meanwhile, can anybody tell me who is the annoying cunt that sings "paramount paramount paramount plus" to the tune of Jingle bell rock?  Because I will hire a hitman to get rid of her.

She' on one of the Star Trek shows.  Strange New Worlds maybe?

Edit:  Yeah.  This chick.  Christina Chong

Wife and I watched the first 2 episodes tonight.

Still trying to reconcile 2 things:

1. Daddy sending smoking hot daughter back into room with boyfriend in her drawers, as long as she promises not to go all the way.

2. Daddy's pick of the litter crew, by which he wanted his son to be mentored; blow themselves up in a catastrophically idiotic sequence in which we are using a baby sledge and pipe wrenches on hex-head bolts/ valves. That old skool dude in the crew had to be a safety guru, no?  Why the fuck else would your son be there?

I'm willing to be entertained, but come the fuck on...

It’s cheesy but fun. Biggest gripe is that every chick is the smartest one in the room.

First Beth Dutton now this 4th year lawyer.

No matter that these shows are set in the most testosterone soaked industries on the planet. I mean GTFO.

I can see Monty is gonna have a grabber and Demi Moore will become the smartest person the patch has ever seen.

For me the point of no return...

was the worm with a combined total of, I believe, THREE days working in the patch, including 1 day  where he got blown the fuck up, tells his new hotty mexican chick that "hes learned all he needs to learn, and is eventually going to own an oil company and treat people better"   paraphrased of course.

combined with this idiot droppping out "2 months" from graduating from Tech with a petroleum engineering degree..... tells me all i need to know how this fucks life would go in the real world...

but in Sheridans world this fucking kid is going to invent some gadget that makes a bazillion bucks and in 2 years hes gonne be owning the company.

Also, he was a star wrestler at Tech.   They could've at least had him go to OK State.

yeah... every episode is getting dumber 🙄 also...it wasn't really bothering me at first but as the show has progressed i'm like 'gotdamn is there anything Sheridan didn't rip off from Peter Berg??'*

BBT and Hamm are the only reasons i'm still watching. agree with above re: Demi taking the reigns...otherwise it's like what was the point of her casting?? she's had maybe 20 lines the entire series so far 🤨

Yeah, that stood out to me when he mentioned it. I am not sure if there are any D1 wrestling programs in Texas but I guess it could have been club wrestling at Tech.

At this point I really just watch for BBT one-liners/dialogue and gratuitous ass/tit shots.

Robyn Lively sighting as the Patch Cafe waitress.. I had a huge crush on her when I was younger.

We're 7 episodes in or so and I told my wife some of the same things posted here (lack of storylines, ridiculous writing).

I don't have kids or a daughter, but I have friends with them.  Never in a million years can I envision a daughter telling her dad about her sex "rule" or running around the house in their underwear around a bunch of old strangers.

The supporting cast is great. The roommates crack me tf up.

This guy gets it. This isn't some great saga, it's a comedy soap with some 'splosions and tits now and then.

Nail Angelina in her prime, and you'll be changed forever.

I was going to mention that I respect any 45 year old that can not only bang but marry a 24 pre-Skeletor Angelina Jolie! And as long as he’s playing this type character (Which is pretty much every role) or Karl Childers he’s an awesome actor. But vanity band double hat Billy is pretty much a douche.

Did they kill off Hamm’s character or something? Lol — so glad I didn’t bother with this show. Sheridan has AI writing his shows know to fulfill that Paramount deal. Same shows, different backdrops.

Spoiler

Appears that way. I told my wife "fuck this, i'm out."

I'm not well versed in the world of oil and gas, but Pig Pen is setting out to build an empire with no money? How is that sposed to work?

I think it’s loosely inspired by the Double Eagle guys. Basically you take land that no one wants, drill a couple wells that produce well and flip it.

There are many other examples. Bud Brigham started his company with $25k, but that was in 1990.

So out of all of the other O&A companies and exploratory groups, he's the one guy that knows that those old wells or that land that no one wants has oil? I'm dubious.

It's not supposed to be realistic.  It's just so fucking sassy.

Irresistibly sassy.  Or not.

I made it 6 episodes.  I like Billy Bob's smart mouth and Ali Larter's boobs.  There's a lot of other stuff that is just pure bullshit.  The daughter's a cunt.  The bad guys are pussies.  The family dynamics are so disjointed, who knows what the fuck is going on.  and Jon Hamm's character sucks.

He kind of sped through his explanation, but I think it mostly works. Basically, the land he wants to lease had shallow production years ago and dried up. The leases expired because of no production. He believes the Wolfcamp formation is under those leases. So he can take a new leases for “cheap” and drill the Wolfcamp. If he can get production from a couple wells and show a trend, a much larger company might buy his package of leases. Double Eagle is a recent example.

OR

He do exactly the same thing, but hold on to the leases and develop them himself. He will 1000% need financing for this. A few producing wells wouldn’t be enough to bankroll his entire play. Not in this day and age. But this is the Sheridanverse, so anything is possible.

Again there are some success stories. Jerrah’s tall tale. Armand Hammer invested in a few barn burner California oil wells in a company that eventually became Oxy.

Hilcorp is probably the best example Pig Pen’s plan. Taking old producing areas that aren’t worth the squeeze for majors, fixing it up/modernizing the equipment/drilling deeper formations, and getting new life out of it.

Ali Larter is hot. The daughter is hot. She's supposed to be in high school, has been in Midland for at least a month, and has yet to darken the doors of a school. Yet has all the time in the world to hang out in an old folks home and take them bowling and to strip clubs. AND is hiring her 17 year old boyfriend to strip for some geriatric women. God this promising show is completely asinine.

Came in to see the same whining and crying about tv shows that are entertainment.  It’s one of the best shows out there for people that don’t beleive everything in tv.

I'm willing to give artistic license some fucking leave, but when self-proclaimed "hillbilly" dad lets his smoke daughter go back and lay with any boy, much less the football dude, because she promised not to have sex while wearing just a t-shirt and panties.  I mean, gotdam.  That isn't a different interpretation of life, it's just boldly false.

Well yeah any of us would have the gun in this dudes face. But that’s why it’s comical. It adds to the perverts like us hoping to see her tits in tv haha

I had a professor in college that spent an ungodly amount of time complaining that the stirrups used in the first Gladiator didn't exist in that time period. It was almost as fucking stupid as the complaints in this thread. Almost. It's fucking Sheridan, enjoy the ride....

Why didn't Pig Pen go to Okie Lite if he was a champion wrestler?!?! (this one's my favorite)

Ultra has alcohol in it!

Why weren't the Mexicans eating menudo with their Modelos???

He's got $1 Million of his girlfriend's money.

And I'll say it again, the roommates (Nathan/Dale) are the best characters in this.
