Gunnar Helm

Tons of credit to Helm, obviously, but it is sooooo nice to have a staff that actually develops talent.  That developmental piece is so easy to take for granted, but Banks has done a great job in the TE room.  Helm bought in, worked his craft and had patience an it is now paying off.  Great sign of a healthy program.

I'll bet a lot of NFL teams that need a TE were watching that game for Loveland and came away thinking Helm is the move. Really great that he got a chance to shine on the national stage.

Thus far in the season, he looks like an All American.

He better with the ball in his hands for sure.

Far superior blocker too IMHO.

Dude went from unheard of outside of our fans to potentially being a top 2-3 RD pick, and if he continues to ascend, he could go in the 1st. Not likely (RD1, not the ascension), but fuck it, let's fucking roll with it. Best TE in the country, baby!

Also, it's crazy how much better he is (so far) than Sanders. We all knew he could ball, but this is out of control. Absolute weapon.

In past ou games, we've killed them with the TE & slot routes.

Yes

But also we are going to fuck them up deep I think.

They are going to play that current Alabama style defense where they sell out to stop everything and play really tight, leaving the double moves and deep shots open.

They will then try to hold and interfere to keep the deep shots from hitting. It will be up to the officials to finally, for once, call this game normally.

On offense they won't be able to blatantly hold every play like in the past. They are fucked on offense. I think we run it up to 28 or so then just drain the clock on their ass while they sit on another goose egg. Pussies.

But yeah go Gunner Helm

This thread needed to be bumped. Gunnar has become one of my favorite players on the team. Keep eating, young man.

Also, you know NFL coaches are gonna fucking LOVE him. I don't know what round he goes in, but he won't drop. I'd bet a team gets aggressive and takes him earlier than wherever he is mocked.

Amazing how far he's come since he stepped foot on the 40. He put in the work needed (mentally and physically) to become one of the best TE's in CFB.

And yeah, all that work will be more than worth it on draft day.

lol, I like how he point to the defender flat on his back.

With such a stoic face too lmao I laughed so hard catching this on re watch.

Gunnar is probably up with Thomas and Scaife on my all time TE favorite list now

Loved the deep EZ throw and catch! However the pointing at the defender on the ground will get a flag vs aggy.

Kicking from the 20 would give up precious field possession. I’m sure it was pointed out afterwards.

Hook’em!!!

Thanks dad

Not sure people are aware, but with a team-leading six catches for 77 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown catch, against Clemson, Helm now has a team-leading 55 receptions for 688 yards, breaking Sanders' record of 54 receptions in 2022 and 682 yards in 2023.
