You want a challenge...Healthy Restaurants downtown??

Wife's birthday weekend coming up and we're staying at the Omni and catching the Miss State game. She likes to eat healthy.

Oh.....and she needs gluten and dairy free. Welcome to my life.

I told her that I'm taking her to the Capital to let her graze on the lawn.

So whatcha got????

*Doesn't necessarily have to be downtown, just more convenient if so.

As I say to my brother about his wife, poor bastard.

Grazing on the lawn gave me a good laugh though. I'll have to remember that one.

As for some advice on where to eat, have her make her own dinner and put it in a Tupperware, and then proceed to go to a steakhouse so she can watch you eat a T-bone and potatoes.

Legit anywhere in Austin. Pick a place they all have all that.

True enough.

In general Asian restaurants tend to have a lot of vegetarian/vegan/healthy options.  Lots of gluten-free due to the prominence of rice and vegetables, and lots of dairy-free outside of Indian food.  But even Indian restaurants tend to have a lot of vegan options as well.

I recently went to Clay Pit for the first time in years, it was really good and the building/atmosphere is always good for a date night.  I ate the heavy dairy stuff like butter chicken of course, but there were lots of vegan options on the menu.

She's not vegan but sometimes it's hard to find gluten and dairy free without it being a "healthy" place.

Thanks for the tips fellas. Got a couple of places to check out.

By the way, will any of these places kick me out if I bring in my own Whataburger or KFC?

Uchi. No dairy or gluten.

If I could get good trade-in value, I would.

Send her out on an errand on Rainey St and your troubles will be over.

Casa De Luz

I first found Casa De Luz after seeing the raves on Yelp years ago and risked taking a lunch date there.  For me, it’s 5 different ways to over-boil squash with a Scandinavian aversion to anything resembling spice or heat.

If you’re craving something that approximates 17th century gruel four weeks into crossing the Atlantic then it’s a good spot for that.

I wouldn't take my wife to Casa de Luz, I actually like her.

Oh, I'm neither advocating, nor endorsing. Based on description, Casa De Luz just seemed up his wife's alley. Bouldin Creek cafe isn't bad though.
