Yeah, like I said, I totally understand not doing it when runners are on base. But bases empty? Who cares if the ball doesn’t make it to the pitcher lol

Messes up the pitchers rhythm and routine.  My kid is a HS catcher and some pitchers really hate it when they have to constantly jump around to field the ball back to them.  They want to get the ball, get on the rubber, and throw.  Throwbacks are obviously critical with runners on, but a good accurate throwback is important for some pitchers too.

It’s really weird they don’t even have her throw back to P with no one on base. I caught many thousands of baseball innings back in the day, you definitely hate making your P work more than necessary.

The video I saw was that she couldn’t even throw it. It was pump fake after pump fake, like her arm was stuttering.

This team's pitching staff feels like it's a one woman team. Kavan is elite, everyone else is just good. And that is going to be a problem.

I said a few days ago something seems off with our staff this year. I don't know if it's White or the new pitching coach (who seemed great last year) or just bad luck, but it seems like all of our pitchers have slipped since last year.  What was projected to be a strength seems a little shaky right now.  Hitting seems great as usual.

Agreed and Mac Morgan taking a step back is a huge issue right now and very unexpected. Kavan is the only pitcher who got better since last year.

SS - only you can save us. She needs innings. I’m completely kidding but would love to see her pitch. See if she still has it

Some would say she never really had it.

Nah what she did her first year in the NCAA tourney I thought we had something.

again I feel like our pitchers get worse as time goes on, TK is just good but what others have gotten better?  Or better yet what pitchers haven’t gotten worse since coming / being here?

I have a hard time assuming it’s “just Texas” as we are 2 weeks into SEC play

OU - 3.57 team ERA in SEC play

Texas - 2.84

Florida - 4.13

LSU - 1.56

Tennessee - 2.05

Aggy - 3.37

SEC hitters are elite. We are just used to smaller ERAs in conference play against the likes of Baylor, Tech, Kansas, Iowa State

Czech and I’ll say Morgan also.

Even on a “down” weekend against the lower teams, you’re giving up 2-4 runs to these SEC teams. Not going to be a lot of 0-1 run games allowed.

The hitters keep getting better as the analytics get better and better. Everyone is trying to replicate the OU offense, which is hurting pitching staffs

I think Mike needs to challenge Salmon with the start today. Tennessee is throwing a freshman against Arkansas who only had 34 IP

Game has completely changed over the past 25 years from a bunch of contact/slap hitters with the occasional slugger, to a bunch of sluggers with the occasional obp hitter at 1 and or 9.

I think moving the pitching distance back has a lot to do with the hitting approach.  Gives them enough time to load up and not just flick the barrel.

I think coach agrees our staff is off, which is why he leans on TK so much.

Well they ain’t gonna get better watching and we’re not getting any better throwing TK every other game.

SEC umpiring is not fucking around with pitch clock violations. Seen a lot of called strikes on batters across the conference this weekend
