What a difference a few innings make.....from little dribblers and down on the offense to 3 long balls w/ a walk off grand slam!

Feast or famine. Really not conducive to winning. Would love to go back to some small ball with Maloney, Henry and Bennett

Bennett needs to sit a few games. Stewie needs to find her swing, Goode is not good at SS, Mia is a badass, Mitchell is a hardass and Reese Atwood is a grown ass woman.

Mia briefly at 2B and Stewie at 3B struck me as an encouraging experiment. Might wake up Stewie's bat a bit and tighten our IF defense overall. Wonder if we'll see that again.

I hope they go four straight for the earhole on her today. What bullshit.

LSU is a piece of shit institution in every possible way. The education is below Texas high school levels, the institution effectively revels in cheating, and the people coming out of that place are fucking trash.

The worst employees, as a group, that I’ve ever had work for orgs that I’ve been a part of have been LSU grads, by far. We eventually just filtered those resumes and candidates out they were so bad.

I've only ever worked with one.  It was at  a defense contractor where the product was electronics.  The guy was a huge stoner.  He couldn't wait to get off work designing wiring boards so he could roll a fat one.

Need @FloridaHorn to get in here and just roast Beth Torina

Oh, there is plenty to roast Torina for, but this ain’t it. Every coach in America coaches their players to initiate that contact and try and draw an obstruction call. It is the 1B’s responsibility to get out of the baseline. Now the laughing and giggling with the coach after the fact was pure bush league.

My main problem with Torina is that she has a habit of playing favorites and fosters the “mean girl” mentality on her teams. Then when the victims try and leave, she stops at nothing to run them down to other coaches. In the days before the portal, she would block all the schools in a players home state when they would try and leave. My dealings with her go back to her FIU days and she is not a good person.

The "mean girl mentality" and the takedown are directly related.

As others here and elsewhere have pointed out, it's clear in the facial expression of McKee as she is looking directly at Mitchell all the way in. You can see on the video (the play starts at 6:53) that McKee starts taking her turn a full six steps from the time she hits Mitchell.

The first step, with her right foot, lands her on the baseline as she starts moving from inside the baseline to the outside portion. The next five steps take her curving through the area outside of the baseline and back into the field of play. There's a direct line of sight for McKee past Mitchell to Maroney (I think) already preparing to throw the ball from right, and as the announcers point out, there is clearly no play and no opportunity to get to second. McKee still has basically two steps at that point before she blasts McKee.

I'd say she could have easily gone around Mitchell to on a sharp cut off the bag to the left or an easy curve around her to the right. She has already slowed down enough at that point to be able to judge exactly what's going on, which is no play, but an opportunity to try to take advantage of Mitchell's position. That's why she immediately looks at the umpire when she recovers from the impact. She knows exactly what she's doing.

McKee is not readying herself to lessen the impact, which she has plenty of time to do. You can see her look harden on the outfield view, an extraordinary camera angle and shot on the replay. She's not looking like someone facing a surprise impact; she is morphing her face into a predatory snarl. It's pure malevolence. Instead of bracing with her arms, she pushes outward and upward. The laughing afterward makes it clear.

The announcers are also clear. There's no play; not sure who the woman was, but she immediately says there was a similar instance with LSU in the previous week (I would assume against A&M, but haven't found anything). She calls it "abrasive."

Yeah, Mitchell could have done a better job getting out of the basepath, but the notion of a "basepath" becomes a little more gray when you're at a point where the reasonable assessment is that the play is over. Definitely bush league. I hope it was a series killer for LSU.

Yesterday was not TK's normal self with 9 hits, but only 1 ER (3 total), 1 walk and struck out 5

We got Berzon for 6 hits, 7 runs (3 earned), 3 walks and only 1 strikeout

Texas will likely be throwing Mac (with Cit to relieve) today and LSU should be throwing Heavener (2.70 ERA in 88 IP, 123K to 60 BB)

Heavener tends to start game 2 of the series for LSU (in every SEC series except South Carolina, where she started game 3)

Kentucky - 5.2 IP, 6 hits, 4R/2ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Georgia - 6 IP, 2 H, 2R/2ER, 7 BB, 5 K
Alabama - 6 IP, 3 H, 1R/1ER, 4 BB, 7 K
aggy - 0.2 IP, 1 H, 7R/7ER, 5 BB, 1 K
SoCar - 7 IP, 5 H, 4R/4ER, 5 BB, 10 K

She walks a lot of batters - if we can be patient (ha), we should put runs up on the board against Heavener.

Is that warning against LSU just this game or the whole series?

I’m guessing the game but the refs may be on the lookout now and ready to review for malicious contact

No doubt it was absolutely intentional. It was a smart play, but it didn’t have to be that type of collision. She just needed to bump her to get the call.

Mia, Joley and Reese initiated some pretty malicious contact of their own.

If that warning doesn’t apply to the whole series, Lsu can just run over Joley the next two games!

Might have to slide Stewie over there. Or maybe add Oldacre to the roster for the weekend.

Texas really needed that, back into a tie in the loss column with aggy

aggy 13-4
Texas 12-4
OU 10-5
Tenn 10-6

Remaining series:

aggy: arky, @ Tenn (and they lost 1 game against Georgia due to rain, so unsure how that affects any tiebreakers, as they will only play 23 SEC games)
Texas: 2 more versus LSU, @ OU, Kentucky
OU: MSST, Texas, @ Florida
Tenn: 2 more versus Auburn, @Ole Miss, aggy

It's actually going to be a really fun finish to the SEC schedule over the next 2+ weeks
