I'll have to watch one of my all-times favorites in his honor. Spend a lot of time up in the areas where it was filmed, beautiful country.

Man, I watched the new Pete's Dragon this weekend with him (no I don't have kids, I just like Disney, blow me) and was thinking how he is still such a great actor at his age.  Sad to see him go.  Gonna have to go brush up on his classics.

Watched a bit of that movie where he's on a boat all alone, pretty much looked to have retired from acting by then.

Yeah, not sure he actually says a word the entire film does he ?

Even though it has Jane Fonda in it, Barefoot in the Park is a very good movie. Pretty damn funny too.

I loved that movie BECAUSE Jane Fonda was in it.

He’s one of the few actors that I’ll watch anything he’s in. A very talented person as well as a visionary. He opened a lot of doors for independent film makers with his Sundance Film Festival.

Which I believe was a result of Jeremiah Johnson..  The movie, not the guy.......... still living out there..... somewhere....

Just watched The Sting with my son last night.  Tonight is Butch and Sundance.

I would add The Natural.  He was on scholarship as a pitcher at CU, but he got kicked out for drinking.

His later work is pretty good too.  He did some good stuff on aging.

A Walk in the Woods and Our Souls at Night are both good movies, once you get past how he looks.  I would guess he had plastic surgery on his eyes.     Interesting his leading lady in "Souls" was Fonda.  Maybe he thought it would be his last, so he wanted to complete the circle.

This probably belongs in the unpopular opinions thread, but I always thought Redford was overrated.  He always seems relatively flat, without a great range of emotions or character.  I like him okay, but don't think he belongs anywhere near the pantheon of great actors.

Sneakers is a very underrated movie.

It would be a classic if they could've come up with a better ending. Great cast, great story, and then they go full "Hollywood liberal" with the ending. Not that I disagree with the overall intent of the message but it was just so heavy handed. That and the part about everyone giving their demands at the end was super cheesy. Awww...Leo just wants that FBI chick's number...isn't that romantic? Blecch.

He learned to swim at Barton Springs. No kidding.

Yep. He talks about that in The Unforeseen, an excellent documentary about the development around Barton Springs (Redford was an executive producer on the film). If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
