About 10 years ago, I rode in an elevator with Bully at the Baton Rouge Marriott off of Corporate.  That's all I got.

I saw Tony Danza get into a screaming match with a drunk LSU baseball fan at a hotel bar in BR so this hits close to home.

Mississippi State is one of only three teams in the SEC that Texas does NOT have a winning record against. Can you guess the other two?

  Reveal hidden contents

Mississippi State 2-2

Vanderbilt 3-8-1

South Carolina 0-1

They'll be off that short list by Saturday night.

  • Their athletic teams were known interchangeably as the "Aggies," "Maroons," and "Bulldogs" until 1961 when the latter became official. They've had an English bulldog named "Bully" as their live mascot since 1935.

Maybe someone could do some research and dig up how they came up with the sweet nickname for the bulldog.  That has to be a great story.

An old buddy of mine had a theory that Tony Danza's character in every series he was in was named Tony because if he was called by any other name he was too fucking stupid to respond

Um.. I don't recall that Grant was a heavy drinker... however:

Pierce is also serving as the current former POTUS whose presidency is still closer to the Texas A&M national championship than aforementioned championship is to today.

It makes sense if the criteria was, "which President drank the most"

I don't know. That's stiff fucking competition.

Heavy drinker as measured by... his peers? Or society in 2024.

As Chief Wiggum so eloquently put it: "Lady, please. All of our founding fathers, astronauts and World Series heroes have been either drunk or on cocaine."

Either...  I did a quick search and found nothing. I'll grant you it was not in depth but you'll see the same results with a similar voyage on the googles.

Idk. I think I'm sticking with the "vs. his peers" argument.

I just know how wild the alcohol consumption was from independence all the way to prohibition (shit - maybe all the way to the 70s or 80s). Sounds like maybe it was more of an issue in his early days and by the time he held office he had mellowed out?

I also - however - stand by my argument that he probably doesn't crack the top 10 or 20 for biggest boozehounds that have held office. Those fuckers would put it BACK back in the day.

1) whoosh

2) the article you posted supports my point..

Rarely drunk in public

Never made important decisions while drinking

No reported episodes while president

In what world is that a problem drinker.. particularly at the time.

Curious if there were any historic events that occurred without the people being drunk?

None unless my boy TJ was involved and that homie was high as FUCK on the black tar.

What happens if you elect a young New England frat bro as president. Surprisingly racist, definitely partied too hard, terrible at his job.

Kid fuckin loved pond hockey and the Sox.

MSU food and dairy services school or whatever it’s called sells 5-pound wheels of really good gouda and cheddar for Christmas gifts.  Get your orders in before Thanksgiving.  The dairy science guys produce half gallons of damn good ice cream.  The food services school operates the MSU cafeteria about a block from the North end zone of Davis-Wade stadium.  This is one outstanding and cheap cafeteria.  Over at the bull semen collection lab, hazardous duty awaits Animal Science grad students equipped with a long pole and a small cup on the end.  Bama Llama is an MSU grad, ‘76.  It was a nice gig.  Starkville is all right.  Never went to any of the Walmarts there, but I don’t belittle the Starkvillians who do, to the Teasip bastage who posted that upstream.
