No idea what to expect this season, honestly not too much unless we have some guys improve by a lot. Didn’t really add anything which isn’t always a bad thing but I’m beyond ready for a contender again. Maybe we move some guys at the deadline if we’re back to just treading water around the 9-12 spot and get something nice or more picks.

I expect Amen and Jabari to improve a lot. They are players who are kids, but basketball mature for their age. It could take Cam another year, because he's really a  kid.

If Jalen can just be consistent (LY good) that will be an improvement.

Tari healthy will be a big improvement.

Alp will be recovering.

Id put my money on Sarr for ROY. Not sure Reed is gonna put up enough #s

I agree with your not enough minutes for Reed premise, but I’d bet on Castle. The Spurs guards are dogshit and Paul will miss at least 2 months of the season. Castle is going to play a ton of minutes. If he’s just above league average he’ll have nice numbers.

Weird that Sheppard is a 3 point specialist and only took 1 three all game to Jalen green chucking up 9. I was expecting him to play off the ball and get some easy kick out looks. Hopefully they work that in more.

I don’t think the Rockets see him as a specialist.

Not sure if this needs its' own thread, but a new book about Dream came out today.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/030683118X/?bestFormat=true&k=dream the life and legacy of hakeem olajuwon&ref_=nb_sb_ss_w_scx-ent-pd-bk-d_de_k0_1_12&crid=DP3B7NB1I2QW&sprefix=dream%3A hakeem

An excerpt from the book:

The author was on Russillo's podcast too, talking about it.

I am not that engaged with the recent Rockets teams, but I was 12-13 years old during those titles and he is my favorite athlete ever.  He doesn't get the love he deserves.  Super excited to read this one.

Watched them for first time last night. Rockets looked good. Core of youngsters look stronger and more cohesive going forward. My boi Sengun looks healthy. Green "seems" at least "seems" to have settled in. Not hunting every damn shot he can find but maturing in the sense that he has the green light but taking great shots created within the offense, cause theyre there (namely due to the constant doubling folks are running at Sengun [i mean almost all the way out to the 3pt line] & Steven Adams picks. He's just a huge human and when u come off his picks you got all the room in the world).
"Cocaine Curry" is gonna run the 2nd unit. Kid's hops and quick release are gonna allow him to get his shot up consistently (especially in that mid-elbow/range). When he gets to his spot lil dude is lethal! If they can improve defensively (which a healthy Tari Eason & Adams should help) i can see that win total going from 41 to 47/48. Not sure where that puts them in the loaded western conference playoff picture but curious to see

I’m a Green hater because inefficient basketball makes me want to vomit, but he was on fire last night and super, super efficient.

Basically all his shots were from 3, he was hitting better than 50% of them, and he picked up four shooting fouls and hit 7 of 8 three throws, scoring 30 on 16 shots with zero turnovers.  If he can do 80% of that consistently he’s going to be worth a max deal.  He‘s worse defensively, but offensively that’s prime Ray Allen.

Worried the Rockets made a mistake with Reed over Knenect. What a fit his size and scoring would have been on this roster.

Lol

Won't shock me if he and Tari are shipped out mid season

Why would they trade Tari?
