I guess I've never watched it through enough to realize all those dipshits ran away from the chick that got tossed and barrel rolled across the turf to all go stand and stare at their stupid-ass wagon.  What a bunch of cock munching dbags.

I wish I could hit OU +16.5. Damn Texas legislature.

I wonder if the other books haven’t made the game available yet and what you are seeing are the pre-season lines. On DraftKings the line is not posted yet.

Judging from SP+ last week, line around 16 looks appropriate.

I was about to ask who has SP+ from last week. I just lost ESPN+ a couple days ago.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/41503155/college-football-2024-week-5-sp+-rankings-takeaways

That still seems crazy to me. But I guess they lost to Tennessee by 10 at home.

For context: OU was -17ish in 2015. OU -11.5 in 2016. OU -9 in 2017.

I check in on Ikard/Lehman and their OU game breakdowns on YouTube occasionally. Love that they are drinking the kool-aid after stealing that win vs. Auburn. Lehman spent a lot of time talking about how good OU's defense played after *checks notes*...giving up 482 yards of offense and 4 receptions over 30+ yards. They fully bought into the Sooners being elite on D after the Tennessee game, even though anyone with objective eyes saw that Heupel decided to be very conservative after halftime.

Their 4-1 record allows them more time to be in denial, and hopefully that bleeds into the OU staff and football team over the next 12 days. All is fine, Sooners. Y'all got it all figured out.

Yeah idk man. 16.5 is A LOT. Posted upthread that OU was -17 in 2015 and they fucking LOST. Obviously we are better than OU was in 2015 but it's still a neutral site rivalry game that produces fucky results.

Imo, Texas has been pissed off for a year about that game.

Are you saying to jump on Oklahoma like they jump on their sisters?

Also…when was the last time a totally outclassed OU team sprung the upset in this game?

2009 got a little hairy.

They obviously won last season but they did go 10-2 and had 49-0 on the bulletin board the entire year.

Either way I'm not talking about the ML I'm talking about the spread. I don't think anyone would be surprised if they cover 16.5.

Oh I’m not betting it unless it drops to 14, which it might as we get closer. Even if we get up big, we still have Georgia the next week.

Idk. I need more time to think it over.

Nothing wrong with a little win/win action, though.

Also saw Texas by 13+ was like -155. For the optometrists.

I might do something like tease OU up past +21.

Were I the gambling type.

Was I? I said on at least one board I expected Texas to lose, but that was a year ago, so I guess I’ll have to see how the search functionality works here.

Probably not a terrible idea. I have a personal rule that I don’t bet against Texas under any circumstances.  I’ve had a lot of cash pass by me during the Mack, Charlie, and Herman years.

I thought it was you. May have been a different game from last season though.

All I know is that I was convinced we'd beat them last season myself.

I've lost a lot of money betting the other direction.

Uh, the last time it was played?

Beyond that, the rarity of that probably has more to do with how rarely Texas has outclassed OU since they hired Stoops. Texas has had the decisively better team, what, five times in the past 25 years? 1999, 2005, 2009, 2022, and 2023? You could make a case for 2008 I guess? Two of those were the first year of a new regime in a hard reset at OU. The scenario you mentioned just hasn't even had the chance to happen very often.

We're in the third consecutive year of Texas having a clearly better football team and even that is unprecedented in my living memory. I'm optimistic Texas is going to have the upper hand for the next few years at a minimum and I am really  hungry as a fan to see Texas rack up some wins in the 2020s.

Texas -16.5 is silly. Not that it can't happen, but anything beyond a TD is a very tough spread to swallow in this game. Beyond two TDs and you'd be crazy to touch it.

I did “correct” “if Texas wins” to “when,” in one post regarding OU, so there’s that.

I was very confident Texas was going to beat Alabama’s ass. Not so much OU, but it took a lot of shitastic things for an OU team that was better last season to pull out a last minute win against, imo, a Texas team not as good as this one.

Damned near anything is possible, which is one reason I don’t bet on college football, but I think Texas breaks OU and pulls people looking toward the UGA game

All I know is:

- Jackson Arnold ain't winning this game

- If they keep running Hawkins like they did in Auburn he ain't making it the full season - and there's a lot of cats wearing burnt orange that could accelerate that demise.

Your post is what I was getting at - we’ve only been the clearly superior team (I don’t count last year but I guess it’s arguable; OU was undefeated and ranked around 10 coming into the game) a handful of times in the past 25 years but have managed to win them all. While anything can happen, this game typically plays out like it should on paper.

He may not live through the day if he has to pass, either.

I do feel like this is an outsized portion of the most likely outcomes. Oklahoma's defense is legitimately good but it's hard to imagine Texas not getting their 27-38 points. Conversely, pretty hard to imagine Oklahoma getting to 30, which they probably need to do to win even if Texas has some hiccups.

If OU get behind and starts pressing and making mistakes, or having to be one dimensional and throwing all the time, that's a really bad position for them to be in and it could go south for them quickly.

In crimson and cream, the hopes rise high,
But often they stumble, and fans wonder why.
With cheers in the stands and dreams in the air,
Yet too many moments that lead to despair.

The glory of past days, a shadow they chase,
But turnovers and penalties mar their embrace.
A drive that begins with such promise and flair,
Ends in confusion, the crowd holds its stare.

The rivals all rally, their banners held tight,
While Sooners are left searching for light.
Defense is faltering, the offense goes cold,
As seasons slip by, the story grows old.

Their season like their lives, all for naught

While seemingly always stuck in the muck

When they see the burnt orange they're feel with fraught

Just remember the truth, OU always will suck

They must have loosened up the reins a little bit since last year.  Last year it was admonishing me for bad sportsmanship when I was prompting it to write poems about OU's innate capacity to suck every picosecond since the big bang.

Interesting that Ikard thinks Hill is the worst player in our front 7.  I wonder if maybe the only game Ikard studied was the MSU game, which was Hill's worst game of the season by far, IMO.

It also won't surprise me if PK unveils some blitz schemes that he was keeping in his hip pocket specifically for this game.

All of that; in fact I was wondering during the game if Hill was previously dinged up and was out there to get reps and loosen up some soreness.

Also there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth about the run D, but Texas played base and never bothered adjusting to what MSU was doing.
