About this:
I noticed that with the Thunder.  They smothered him with various wings to the point he was having trouble just getting the ball.  Whenever he did get the ball, he was 25 feet away from the basket.

Interesting strategy considering a PG can push wemby off of the block

Ty Jerome for those who were wondering. I think if not for multiple injuries, he would have been a big time rotation piece.

Kenny Atkinson, with his willingness to use his bench and great rotations so far, has been such a breath of fresh air after years of JBB idiocy.  And Jerome has been nails so far now that he is healthy.

Imagine that - using the early season to flesh out rotations and not run starters into the ground.

Wolves wow!! Double digit comeback in the last 4 min. i turned it off after the gobert/braun scrum since we were getting killed and looked back 5 min later and we're up 3? wow.

Denver's bench made a whopping 4 baskets, none of them threes.

Getting the ball into westbrooks hands has to be the strategy. Denver can’t afford any injury to their core 4 or they’re cooked. I guess Murray entered concussion protocol but he wasn’t doing much anyways unlike MPJ, AG and Joker

Braun as annoying as he is with his orgasms, has filled in nicely replacing KCP so far. Nobody has filled in brauns bench production

Missed this one from Thursday.

Giannis went 37 and 11 on 17-22 shooting...in a game that they trailed by 31 in the 2nd half and lost by 23 to Memphis.

It's over. Their window is completely shut. Whatever dumb fuck approved bringing in Doc Rivers and 6' tall declining Dame and his ridiculous salary should be launched into the sun.

Giannis, Dame, and Middleton will make just over $150M next year, and Dame has a player option to come back in 2026-27 at $63M. Fucking ouch.

That would be…Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Going to follow the Harden blueprint of destroying the franchise before requesting a trade. Not sure anyone in Milwaukee will care though since he got them a title.

i mean thatd be a godsend haul?Suppose OKC can unload 9 of their picks since they probably dont have the roster spots if they were to keep all of their FRPs

Hartenstein+Dort would work for matching salary, plus whatever picks it would take. He's under contract at max money for the next 4 years, which is great for OKC. Not sure if Milwaukee would do it without Chet being included, have to think they need a real player or two to build around.

The ensuing Dame trade would be hilarious. Milwaukee would probably have to include at least two 1sts to dump his egregious salary. Maybe Portland would take him back for old times sake?

Wasn’t this because of something the reporter wrote about two of his family members?

Allegedly.  The column mentioned Embiid's son and deceased brother in the context of Embiid saying he wants to leave a legacy (in the basketball sense)...yet he's been out of shape and/or injured for his whole career.

Embiid bitched about the press in general questioning his desire to play earlier this week, then moved the goal posts to the references to his family members when confronting the columnist tonight.

Of course, he didn't actually shove the columnist until after getting called out for making the completely bullshit statement that he doesn't care what reporters say about him.

So that adds a lot of context for me. I did not really know the specifics of what was said or done. I have never thought he had a burning desire to be great or that he plays the game because he loves it. He’s big, skilled and gets paid a lot to play. Money to me is the main motivation for him, which is fine. Just don’t get upset about the apathy you show each year about actually playing the sport.

Also, just to be clear, the columnist (Marcus Hayes) seems to be pretty universally hated by Sixers fans in terms of distorting things/stirring the pot, so it's not like he's in the clear here either.  He didn't need to include the family members in the column, but at the same time he's right that Embiid hasn't shown any more initiative to get in shape or stay on the court even after his son was born, so his words about leaving a legacy ring hollow.

So perhaps both guys should punch themselves for being pricks. Not a real big fan of writers who intentionally create drama with adding things to a column that are not necessary. I had no idea who the guy was before reading this, but he sounds like a garbage writer.

its really hard these days to properly value stat lines like these without actually watching all of these games. stats are so inflated and defensive effort is so lacking these days that a guy consistently putting up outstanding numbers doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s actually any good or that he’s helping his team win. that said, good for rj barrett.

Not allegedly.   I hate Embiid more than just about any other athlete in sports right now but I have no issue with him popping this guy.   I would've been there yelling "Smack his bitch ass again Jo!!"

Joel Embiid consistently points to the birth of his son, Arthur, as the major inflection point in his basketball career. He often says that he wants to be great to leave a legacy for the boy named after his little brother, who tragically died in an automobile accident when Embiid was in his first year as a 76er. Well, in order to be great at your job, you first have to show up for work.

Raptors are a 2-5 team headed for the deep lottery. Someone has to put up points on shitty teams.

That said - he is putting up very good numbers.

Looks like Jaxson Hayes is getting a well deserved ticket right out of the league with the new video. What a piece of garbage this guy is. I never wanted him on the team and it should not have taken an investigation being reopened to hopefully get Pelinka to waive him. He should be suspended for this entire season.

No Giannis tonight vs #1 Cleveland, and Cle with an 18 point lead just before half. Lots of basketball commentators putting out articles about what Milwaukee should seek in trade for him. Could be a real interesting season of he does get moved somewhere else. Some of the proposals have been OKC, Boston, Miami, Golden State, Brooklyn, etc.  I can't see any of them outbidding OKC, but OKC has to want him too.  A lot of the proposed packages are pretty weak IMO, but you never know. Maybe they can have a fire sale and dump Dame, Lopez and Middleton too.

I don't know if I fuck with what I have if I'm OKC. They have something special cooking and as good as Giannis is he's had one good playoff run and it was really weird.

If they can send Hartenstein and his 30m a year as the bulk of the salary sent out, I think it's worth it. He hasn't even played for them yet, so it's not like he's a big part of them winning. They have plenty of picks to use as leverage to keep their own guys and send out another ~15m to match. I would gladly take Giannis and his 4.5 year contract over 6-7 lottery tickets. A bird in hand is worth more than 6 ping pong balls in a bush.

LOL, the Bucks are not trading Giannis for Hartenstein.  I'm guessing Chet would have to be included and OKC probably doesn't want to do that.
