I dont know what it is about OKC.  im  not  sure if Imfeeling it. Obviously theyre missing Chet and a juggernaut regular season team. Theyre not going to lose to bottom feeder very often if ever.. And Shai is really good. JW is a great running mate to Shai. I just cant get over how many guys for them that are 6'6 and shorter playing forward/ power forwards, all to me share mostly the same skillset.  Watch Shai or JW create and shoot 3s.

once the bigger teams turn up defensive intensity for the playoffs are those smaller wings like Joe, Caruso, Wiggins, Wallace, Dort etc going to be able to hit their 3s every game to make up for their shortcomings?

also is anyone paying attention to this Charlotte Hornets story? they did some Christmas giveaway bit during a TV timeout the other night. The bit was to give a kid a PS5 and then life goes on. They took they PS5 away(not sure if it was in the box or whatever) and handed him a jersey instead and went on their way LOL

Some dude on X called them out saying his buddy & his nephew were the ones apart of this and all they got was some crappy jersey. well they got busted and are righting their wrong.

Yeah, I’m not seeing it.  They are also without Jaylin Williams, their other big. They will be better and bigger when both he and Holmgren get back. In general though they haven’t been shooting it from three as well as they did last year. And are still 20-5. I think they’re going to be okay. They are also still very young. That team is a motherfucker that is only going to get better.

To Mitch's point, they're without the other Jaylin Williams and Chet.  That's a solid three man big rotation when healthy.  Adding Hartenstein was a huge score for them but he just got back.  They played the Mavericks (a legitimately big team) earlier this season with no one in the lineup over 6'6".  They almost pulled it off when Luka wasn't playing so there's that.

Still, they're not a great shooting team to your point.  Shai isn't even a great shooter.  Great scorer, yes.  The only top level shooters on that roster are maybe Chet and Joe.  The interchangeable wings works well on defense, though.  They're all long and athletic and can switch off on most everyone.  Might be low on rebounding but they create a lot of turnovers.

Last night they just couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.  I've never seen them shoot that bad.  Maybe it was a big stage getting to them.

When they hit the playoffs their offense is going to be generated by their defense.  They're gonna win it all.

I apparently missed the memo on the new Allstar game format, not that I really care about that game, but I do prefer the traditional East/West game like it was when I was a kid.  I predict this mini-tournament is going to be really dumb.

Quote

The NBA All-Star Game's new format has been greeted with skepticism from some of the league's biggest stars -- most notably Kevin Durant. "I hate it; I absolutely hate it," Durant said Tuesday, minutes after the league announced the changes to its midseason showcase.

This season's format is a four-team, three-game, one-night tournament that will feature three teams of eight All-Stars each, with the fourth team being the winner of the Rising Stars challenge for first- and second-year players. The winning team in all games will be the first to score 40 points.

The All-Star Game will take place Feb. 16 at the home of the Golden State Warriors. The Rising Stars event is there Feb. 14, headlining All-Star Friday. "Terrible -- All-Star Game format changing, all the formats -- terrible in my opinion," Durant said. "We should just go back to East-West. Just play a game."

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has wanted a more competitive All-Star event for some time, and this change comes after the teams combined to score a record 397 points -- 211-186 was the final -- in last season's game at Indianapolis. The teams combined to take 289 shots in that game, 94% of those being either inside the paint or beyond the 3-point line.

"I think we've been trying to bring that flare back somehow with All-Star Weekend, I think we just keep the tradition," Durant said. "We'll see how this one works. You never know, I might be wrong, I'm just another guy with an opinion, but we'll see how it works."

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander offered a more optimistic take Tuesday, acknowledging the "elephant in the room" of player effort during the All-Star Game.

"At the end of the day, it's going to come down to whether the players want to go at it, and I would love to see that," he said. "Love to be a part of that, for sure, and hopefully it happens."

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, however, seemed to agree with Durant when asked Wednesday about the new format.  "Same thing KD said," Morant said.

the new format is insanely stupid, and KD has already railed against it publicly.

It might help the NBA if the biggest stars and commentators weren't constantly shitting all over the product. I can't imagine David Stern ever thinking this is OK. Maybe it will be dumb, we haven't seen it yet, but i do know that the current game sucks. From what i understand this is an idea they lifted from hockey.

Yeah, I mean this with all due respect, shit the fuck up, KD. You, LeBron, and Steph are as guilty as anyone for why the game became what it is and why wacky experiments are now necessary.

No one expects May defensive intensity, but is semi-pro pickup game in LA in August effort too much to ask?

While it may generate some mild fan interest--mostly from people who already closely follow the NBA--asking players to win so we can potentially draft your replacement is weird.

Tie it to the luxury tax. Winner not subject to first apron restrictions the next year or something like that.

Even better get rid of aprons, get rid of trade restrictions, make a solid hard cap number. Allow trades that don't match salary at all, like Giannis for Wemby. Let teams determine the value of players rather than their contract terms. The league would be a lot better off, as teams could build or  reset faster.

That’s pretty fucking ridiculous. The ref should be sent to the G-League for a couple weeks. The league should be able to, in real time, reverse that technical.

They will rescind it but the league should fine that ref. For being a huge baby
