So the spurs really got fox for zach collins, tre jones and a couple picks?

Kings have Lavine, Derozan(pt 2), Monk and Murray+ Sabonis. wtf are they going to do with that?

they were kind of fucked when it came out that Fox was going to try to get to SA in 2 years so.

Oh Fox's agent is Rich Paul. makes total sense.

lol. Jimmy took a backseat in the matter of 20 hrs . especially teams gauging the market for a 35 year old pain in the ass

He's trying to get to Phoenix but there is no way to do it without beal waiving his NTC.  Miami doesn't want beal and most of the teams that could help facilitate the trade beal wont go to.   It will be really interesting to see how it finally works out

No idea why Golden State would want that contract after finally getting out of luxury tax hell. He raises their ceiling to what, 2nd round? And that's probably being generous.

Oy thing I can come up is they think they will get contract hunting Jimmy during the playoffs

the grizzlies play with the heart of a college team. i hope they make some noise in the playoffs.

Yeah they play a beautiful brand of ball. Memphis has a strong developmental program. Lots of no name guys that are productive in their system.

Speaking of (not that he didn't have a name), when the hell did Kennard develop a handle and start playmaking? I thought that game couple weeks back when he had all those assist was a fluke.

Full trade:
Spurs: De'Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin
Kings: Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first round picks (2025 CHA, 2027 SAS, 2031 MIN), three second round picks (2025 CHI, 2028 DEN, 2028 own back)
Bulls: Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick via SAS

Congrats Spurs fans, this is a fucking excellent trade!  2027 SAS and 2031 Min FRPs were the only real picks in that bunch. The rest were all too protected to matter.  Lots of 2nds, but who cares about them. Turning all that salary into Fox for 1.5 years is a great deal.

what does the addition of fox mean for paul and castle?

I can't believe Castle wasn't in that trade, he has looked pretty good so far. Lots of potential there. hopefully he and Fox can coexist, but I don't know if it can work unless Castle figures out how to shoot better.

If I'm SAS, I look to move CP3 to the highest bidder if Anyone wants him. He knew what this was, and the team doesn't need him. Get the young guys more time on the court, and figure out how to integrate Fox with the remainder of the season. Next year should be a year to make a deep playoff run if all goes well.

CP3 doesn’t have much of a market. He would have to go to a top team.

Okc - no
CLE - maybe. Probably no
Bos - no
NYC - no
Den - no
Min - maybe. Probably no
Hou - no
Ind - no
Dal - ask for Lively and 5 firsts. lol
Lac - maybe. Probably no
Lal - maybe
Orl - no
Mia - maybe. Probably no
Mil - probably best spot, but no assets.

Chicago got cucked for no talent, no potential, a couple of bench players off of a current play in team for their lone shiny attractable asset.  how did they not get the atlanta picks from SA? WTF? tell them youll sign the deal now if SA involves them or you can find another deal/wait until 2026 to get Fox.

We get Luka to LA and Wemby an allstar PG in 48 hours in two terrible completely lopsided trades.  Lol

If Chicago wins the lottery and gets Flagg, I'll believe it. Like Ewing to the Knicks with the frozen envelope or LeBron to the Cavs, it just seems fishy.

They were pretty adamant that they werent going to include Castle in the deal.   I was just trying to figure out what CP3's move would be.   I dont know that any contender would trade for him.  Plenty would give him a spot if he was bought out but I'm not sure where he would fall in any contender's rotation.

Yeah, I've seen that they were so desperate to get Lavine's contract off their books but why?   No one is signing there.   They just subsidized SA getting Fox.   SA basically gave up nothing.  The 2031 MIN pick MIGHT end up good if Ant decides to dip.

CP3 has too much value as a mentor and leader

I don't see CP3 getting moved. Notwithstanding what he's brought to the team via mentorship especially in light of Pop not being there, he has arguably been the Spurs second best player this season. He's 7th in the league in assists even at his advanced age. Not to mention he's probably been their most clutch shooter. Depending on the matchups, I would close out games with both he and Fox on the floor. The team has been so bad at getting valuable possessions in crunch time, that surely with both of those dudes out there they could at least generate a decent look at the basket every now and then in the last two minutes of games.

With regard to Castle... yeah, his shot needs to get better. It's clearly the concern with his fit with Fox. That's not going to happen overnight but he does so many things to impact winning that he needs to be on the court. He's going to have to knock down open looks but he's also going to get more opportunities to drive from the weakside against out of position defenders with all the attention Fox and Wemby will get off pick and roll. It's no secret that the Spurs need floor spacers. It should be priority 1, 2 and 3 this offseason.

Yeah I get that he's a good mentor, and I think OKC felt the same way about him, but OKC ultimately decided to cash out on CP3 and go with the younger guys. The return certainly isn't going to be the same here, but I would think there is some value. I also would be concerned that he may ask for a buyout if he's not traded, but that's something they need to determine with him. It's just about his last chance at a ring, and he's not getting it with the Spurs.

I don't know what the market would be for him, but I think it's worth exploring. The Spurs aren't winning this year, and letting the young guys get dumb mistakes out of the way now will set them up to be better in the future. Maybe they need CP3 to help integrate Fox into the system, but I doubt it given how historically good that organization has been over the past few decades. CP3 has done a great job, but I think this is the season to take the training wheels off and let the young guys crash their bike into some trees. It may even result in a fortunate lottery pick that helps them even more in the immediate future.

Chris Paul is on a 1 year deal.  He may be playing the last 30+ games of his career.  The Spurs were extremely transparent with what his role was and he certainly knew a move like this was not only possible, but hopefully likely.  The Spurs traded their backup PG in Jones so they obviously feel CP3 will move to the bench, probably play a few less minutes but still have a very large role in hopefully getting the team into the playoffs and getting them some experience.  If Paul wanted to move on, I'm sure the Spurs would accommodate him.

Do you think a buyout is going to happen? He's never won a title, and I have to think that bugs him. Easiest way for him to get a ring right now is hopping on the Thunder bandwagon.

He has history with the Rockets, Suns, Clippers and Thunder, LeBron is in LA, all of them are in the playoff picture. Plenty of options for him if he wants to chase a ring, which I would guess he does. If he does end up on the Lakers with a minimum deal, the outcry will be hilarious.

I do not, but I'm sure some of this will be dictated by the next 15-20 games.  And if Paul decides he'd rather chase a ring late and the Spurs are out of the playoffs, then good luck to him.  I don't care.

Yeah, if he was that pressed to ring chase he wouldnt have signed with SA in the first place.
