Western Conference playoffs are shaping up to be interesting.

I haven't been paying attention but I didn't realize Memphis leap frogged Houston for #2.  With the new trades, I think we'll see some shifting in the standings.  Kings likely slip and don't make the playoffs/play in.  Spurs likely take their place.  Dallas still there on the cusp but I actually like their roster to make it the rest of the year.  Golden State could bump Phoenix.  (Phoenix not even making the play in is insane.)  Denver could catch Houston for #3.  I could see the Lakers slipping but they're in front of the Clipper and Minny and I don't see them making up ground.  It'll be close either way.

I still think OKC is the favorite for the finals, depending on injuries.  Chet should be back after the ASB and that's a great roster.  I liked the Caruso signing but that dude is glass.  Hurt all the time and he's out for weeks with seemingly minor injuries.  I didn't realize he's been like that his entire career.  With the rest of the teams, depending on seeding, anyone could beat anyone and I think Dallas would give OKC problems, especially with PJ Washington playing like a Hall of Famer when he plays them.

Compare that to the East where the borderline teams are basically .400 teams...

Milwaukee started:

Taurean Prince (7.5 ppg)
Chris Livingston (0.4 ppg)
AJ Green (7.9 ppg)
Andre Jackson Jr (3.9 ppg)
Ryan Rollins (4.6 ppg)

against the best team in the league.

I know they were on the back end of a back to back but they need to be fined for that shit.   Sitting half their team in their only visit to OKC is fucked for fans.

Scattershotting on the Luka Trade:

- LeBron was unaware of the trade my ass. Rich Paul engineered the whole thing, so LeBron knew. I get staying friends with AD and all that, but this is the disingenuous shit that makes people hate LeBron.

- Michael Finley allegedly hates Luka. The VP of Basketball Personnel pushed out their best player. That is absentee ownership to allow that to happen.

- Nico Harrison defended the trade by saying defense wins championship. The most cliche bullshit phrase in all of sports is Mavs fans’ only solace. Just say you didn’t want to give Luka the max.

- I don’t think there’s enough time for LeBron to “fix” Luka’s conditioning. The Lakers will just have to hope and give him the max. I wonder if they’ll give Luka a no-trade clause. It would insane if they did, but the Suns inexplicably gave Beal one.

- I’ve never cared for the Harden-Luka comparisons. Sure their games are similar, but Luka shows up in the playoffs.

Beal's NTC came in Washington when he signed his last deal.   He waived it to go to PHX but it still remains in effect until his contract is up.

Can’t expect world class athletes in top peak condition with state of the art training team to play a game, travel and play a game the following night.

That game was part of my ticket package.  I couldn't make it but I sold them for like $250/ticket.  (Seats are good.)  They sold in just a few hours.

I legitimately felt bad for whoever bought those.  That was a legitimately good game on the schedule, especially after the in season tournament and MIL then offers up a G League lineup.

[Charania] The Philadelphia 76ers are trading Caleb Martin to the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell ESPN. Dallas is sending Quentin Grimes and Philadelphia's 2025 second-round pick back to the 76ers for Martin, sources tell ESPN.

I still think there are a couple big trades out there. Especially with Jimmy and KD - either Jimmy to PHO or KD somewhere else.

Does anyone want Keldon Johnson?

Those damn slaves, with their union and collective bargaining agreements and whatnot

His contract is also fully guaranteed? And he can quit and go make money, but not as much money, easily in another country by playing the same sport

Who was the player like 15 years ago that said he needed money to feed his kids? Was it Marbury?

Sprewell?  Turned down the extension with Minnesota because he was insulted by the offer and said he had a family to feed

It was a $21m contract lol

The only part I will add is that trades are the reason I have never and will never talk about a player leaving any team if they feel they cannot win there.    Teams will trade a player the moment they are no longer as useful as they desire no matter their contract status, how much the fanbase loves, etc.

KD is not playing for the fucking Wizards.

Has to be a troll post.  I'm not sure which is less likely.  KD wanting to go there or the Wiz wanting him right now.  Other than to sell some tickets they'd have no reason to bring him in now.

Good grief.  How many teams is he going to end up playing for?  Has another great player played for so many teams?

Lebron will be on his fourth unique team once him and KD meet up in Golden State tomorrow.

I did read something about Draymond and Phoenix. The Mich St connection between Green and Ishbia

Yeah a pretty good amount.

He's only played for 4 and he's been in the league 18 seasons. LeBron has switched teams the same number of times. Davis is at his 3rd team and he's just 31.

Shaq, Wilt, Moses all played for a bunch off the top of my head.

Five would be getting up there, tbf.

Lou Amundson has played for 10...Ish smith is the record holder @ 13

I need to stop buying tickets to NBA games. Bought tickets for the Milwaukee game last night and Lillard and the Freak sit. Have tickets for the Phoenix game tomorrow and looks like Durant is out. Hope his ankle gets better. (I know it's trade related).

In 38 years of going to NHL games, I can't remember ever witnessing a star player sitting a game out for rest (Lemieux sat for cancer treatment which seemed like a pretty legit injury). Oh well.

I know that they've felt they had to trade Middleton for the last yr or so but for Kuzma??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?   He isnt a serious basketball player.    Sucks for true pro like Middleton to have to go deal with that joke org and a joke player in Jordan Poole

I'm trying to ignore it. Probably wont happen anyway.   When will the Bullets be better than the Bucks?   But it makes me think that WAS is saying they needed more for Middleton to get Kuzma which is insane to me

Kuzma isn't a serious basketball player on an unserious tanking team, but he was a valuable player with the Lakers when he could get in line behind their stars. He should be able to do that in Milwaukee. Middleton is washed and can't stay healthy. Kuzma is 29  and his contract is actually declining. Washington is desperate for assets so they get a swap out of the deal + AJ Johnson for taking on two years of salary vs three for Kuzma. They might be able to flip Middleton to a contender at some point, maybe next year at the deadline? The other thing is I'm pretty sure that this puts the Bucks under the second apron, which is fucking huge for them.

The Wiz also got AJ Johnson, who is a 19 year old  FRP that the Bucks took a flyer on this past draft. He could actually turn into something, but it's a crap shoot. I think he's the underrated piece of this puzzle for Washington. Why not take a shot at him and eat a little salary? They aren't going anywhere anytime soon anyway.

That was 4 yrs ago.  He's had plenty of time to get older and comfortable playing shitty ball.    He shoots 46/33/72 on his career and 42/28/60 this yr!   Negative +/- for his entire career topping out a -5 this yr.   He's an awful basketball player.   Just dumping Middleton for him is not a positive in any way.

I've always liked Giannis and the Bucks but I hope Middleton get's his Jrue on and gets flipped to a contender today/tomorrow giving him a chance to get another real run at a title.

I've only seen him a few times on the floor but I liked what I saw of him.

I guess it could be.   That might make the deal a little better but I doubt WAS would do that for helping MIL by taking on the extra salary.   We will see

Kuzma shot 36% from three for the Lakers when playing with guys who can get him open looks. He will get plenty of those with Giannis and Lillard. I can't imagine what playing with Jordan Poole as your alpha would do to your game. Poole is basketball cancer, metastasizing to every other part of the team.

Not sure I'm following the swap discussion... there's a zero percent chance that Milwaukee got the good end of that swap.

The major issue is that Bucks have been trying to get off of the second apron since the beginning of the season while also trying to compete. Kuzma is on a declining deal and is right in his prime. They had to get some cap relief and he's a young rotation piece. They don't  need Middleton like they used to with Dame now on the team. He's the clutch perimeter bucket getter for them now.

36% isn't that great.    I'd be happy to be wrong.   You have WAY more faith in Kuzma than I've ever had.  He's been horrific IMO.

I think the point is that the reanimated corspe of Khris Middleton isn't a high bar to clear. Kuzma can at least give them 30 mins a game.

Kuz's per game numbers last season weren't bad. It's worth a flyer.

I wonder if we're about to see Draymond + whatever for KD. May need 3 teams.

Them trading Dray for KD would be kinda poetic, no?   LOL

Dray and filler to MIA, Butler to PHX and KD to GSW should work.  PHX should be able to get Butler and recoup at least a pick or two from trading everything to get Beal/KD.  As much as I dont see it working, it wouldnt be a terrible get giving up KD.  MIA is kinda in a bind so they may accept not getting too much in the way of picks and Dray might actually be the kind of player Riley would like even at his advanced age.

Even as a diminished player Middleton was still going 50/41/85 for 12/4/4 in 23 mins/gm this yr.  Kuz is at 15/6/2.5 on 42/26/60 in 27 mins.   They should have been able to get something better
