Whoa Hornets sending Mark Williams to LAL for Knecht, Reddish, a 2031 unprotected 1st rounder, and a 2030 pick swap.

This sounds good, especially for Williams as he is freed from basketball purgatory.

If AD is going to get the nickname street clothes then what does Williams get? Davis played in 71 percent of the games he could have been a part of for the Lakers. Williams has played in about 40 percent of the games he could have suited up in for the Hornets.

Gun to my head I could not have told you who BB plays for. He had a fun couple seasons with Brooklyn and then Denver (he was on the title team, correct?).

Yes and the Nuggets miss him.

Yeah if he actually plays basketball for them.

Could be.   He's hurt a lot though.   Still somewhat surprised the hornets traded him.   When they trade nick Richards earlier in the season it was supposed to be to clear mins for williams who they liked better.     They got a pretty good amount in return for him.   They do have a couple other really young bigs that have shown a little promise.

I turned on this OKC PHX game after the Wolves game...PHX was up like 10 midway through the 2nd. then it was suddenly down to 1 in about 2 min and led by 2 at the half.

Now theyre losing by 16 about 5 min into the 3rd and have scored 2 points off FTs

I walked away for about 10 mins and phx was up double digits.   Came back and they were down 16.   Had to go back and make sure I hadnt seen the score wrong 😂 😂 😂

Williams is a good get for the Lakers, but having to give up an uprotected pick + a swap in back to back years is a pretty signifcnat price to pay.

Now that they have Luka their picks out a few yrs should be less valuable.   The unprotected pick SHOULD be in the late 20s and the pick swap prolly won happen.   CHA isnt going to be good anytime soon.  LOL

LMAO. PJ's been traded 3 times in like 3 days

yeah, he's getting passed around LOL.  He will most likely get bought out wherever he is after this evening.

I don't really understand the Charlotte end of trading Mark Williams. They are in deep rebuilding mode and he's a young (albeit often injured) asset that should grow with them and be part of their long term core. Those Lakers picks, assuming that Luka is going to be there long term, are not likely going to be great.

Are they also secretly trying to move to Las Vegas?

They are so deep into tanking.     Only thing I can take from it is by the time they get to trying to get good, they would have to pay Williams a big contract.   They have another young big Moussa Diabate that has shown some promise hitting double figures in pts in 4 of the last 5 and in rebs 2 of those times.   He was a 2nd round pick a few yrs back.   Guessing they think they can get by with him through this time of being shitty and hope for a lottery win this summer to keep Cooper Flagg in the area.

He's not a cornerstone to build on and it seems they're committed to a timeline that would put them farther down the road.  Doesn't make sense to pay to keep him after his contract comes up next year so get what you can for him and they got a decent return.

Yep, even if the picks are later in the draft they got Knecht who looks to be really good.   They have him cost controlled for 3 more yrs after this one.

I do wonder how long before Ball starts pushing to get out of there though.

[Charania] The Phoenix Suns are trading Jusuf Nurkic and a 2026 first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic and a 2026 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

Oh wow, I didn't know he was available. Nice get by the Cavs, and a huge upgrade over Levert, who can't stay healthy. Hunter has 2 more years on his contract and is 27 years old. He should fit in well with the guys on this team playing active defense and shooting nearly 40% from 3. The Cavs need some tall wing players to help match up better with Boston.

I'm guessing the Nets want a lot more for Cam Johnson, so they went with Hunter for a much cheaper price. Leverts 16m is expiring, so that frees up some cap space for ATL next year. Niang has 1 year 8m left, and the 2nds are negligible. Great move.

Yeah... I'm trying to make sense of this myself.

The Hawks, who don't control their own pick this year (or for the next two years), just made themselves worse in the short term to save a few bucks down the road. All in order to add some second round picks plus two swaps in 2026 and 2028 that are actually swaps on swaps with Cleveland/Utah for the Donovan Mitchell trade. Maybe they can reroute Niang or they have something else brewing, but that is a shit move. I'm not complaining as the Spurs own their pick, but what in the blue fuck are they doing? Am I missing something?

Thunder won the trade deadline just by getting Chet back weeks earlier than everyone thought.

They'll have a lineup of:

Chet/Hart/Dub/Dort/SGA

They can have a lockdown lineup of:

Chet/Dub/Caruso/Dort/Wallace  (good lord).  SGA is still very good on defense but they have three elite wing defenders with an elite shot blocker.
