Yeah Simmons has him flirting with 2nd team right now.

32/9/7 tonight.   Last night was a masterpiece 38/7/12.  ATL tried to double and triple him and he picked them apart with the pass.

I was convinced he'd be awesome watching him in college. Just took him a few seasons.

I dont watch MCBB anymore so I didnt see too much of him.   I was just hoping he wasnt another Fultz or Simmons.  Really glad he's taken that next step.   Detroit has been looking for that next big time guy for a long time now.

Lmfao holy shit we won??? I turned it off when it was like 82-60

Apparently your bench unit clawed it back to force OT and then Finch opened with the same 5 sans Ant in OT.

Ant had an absurd block on SGA up 1 with 10 seconds left.

Good. Get everyone tired. Nuggets smoked the Pacers tonight on the road - I thought they couldn’t beat a good team

Well, Reddick solved Jok in their last game. He's done.

The zone really bothered OKC. It did it on Sunday night until they hit 8 3s in a row sealing the game.

I read OKC is 13-9 vs western conference playoff teams. That’s not exactly eye popping. They do do a good job of defeating the bottom feeders tho. Idk. I still feel they have too many guys 6’6 and shorter and that’ll come back to bite them. Especially if hart or Chet go down. Then they have Williams and Dort while strong, aren’t true PFs.

They’ve got a pretty tough stretch coming up: Memphis, HOU, Denver 2x, Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee

Their real weakness is outside of SGA, they really don't have any shot creators.  Jalen Williams sort of but he seems to come up short when they REALLY need something.  They also don't have any great shooters but a lot of good ones and as a result, they can go long stretches where the offense just stalls.  They've never gone multiple games where that happened, though.  They've only played Chetenstein just a few games, though.

Orlando is at a bit of a crossroads - I just don't see how that team is going to be competitive unless their stars get much, much better from 3.  Banchero, Wagner, and Suggs each shoot the 3 at about 30% - that's not going to get it done.

Tonight Banchero & Wagner combined for 45 points.  On a combined 43 shots.

Kyrie would have been one of the top 15 of all time if he had even half a brain.

Nah. Too little and too many injuries. I don't think him being a weirdo has kept him from very much career success if we're being honest.

Luka couldn't find his shot tonight and still went for 19/15/12 +8. Created 51 of the Lakers 107 points.  With him going to LA non Dallas fans are finally discovering how good he actually is. He's not just a shot maker.

We’ll trade our Make-A-Wish starting center for him.

The no look behind the head pass back to Reaves was amazing

Lakers are 7-2 since trading for Luka. Warriors are 6-1 since trading for Butler

Oh yeah, that's right, get ready for 2-3 months of non-stop attention for two teams that are not going to win the NBA Championship.

Probably time to start discussing Paul George with Bradley Beal, CJ Mccollum afor the worst contract in the league

Paul George isn't even the worst contract on his own team and that's saying something because his contract is awful.

True. I was leaving the door slightly open for embiid to stay healthy

Everyone bagged on the Clippers for not giving him that 4th year but who is laughing now?  He's still a solid player but it's obvious he's hit the age wall.  In 2028, he'll be making $56M.  Ugh.

One of the funniest interviews I've watched. Mad Max is one of a kind. The former NBA player podcast market is a bit oversaturated, but we've gotten some unbelievable stories and lore context out of it. 45:05 he talks about Hakeem slapping the shit out of him in the locker room

I've been listening to snippets the last couple of days.  Max is fucking HILARIOUS.  And yes, the Hakeem slap story is good shit.  Dude I worked with about 20 years ago worked in some of the clubs Max hung out in back when he was with the Rockets and had a ton of great stories about Max being Max.  I love his commitment to hating the state of Utah and the Jazz.

https://www.wsj.com/sports/basketball/nba-playoffs-40-20-rule-9f2d9b30

The NBA playoffs are still almost two months away. When they tip off, 16 teams will do battle for the chance to be called the best basketball team in the world.

According to one time-tested rule of thumb, though, most of them can forget about being crowned champions this season. In fact, the number of teams with a genuine chance to win the title is down to just three.

The “40-20 rule,” attributed to legendary Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson, is a formula for assessing a team’s championship bona fides before the postseason has even begun. The test is simple. To be considered a true contender, a team must win 40 games before it loses 20.

In Jackson’s case, the rule never failed. All 11 championship teams he coached in Chicago and Los Angeles met the mark. (And the 2004 Lakers, who lost in the Finals in an upset against the Pistons, did not.) Even the 1970s Knicks, with whom Jackson won two titles as a player, passed the test in each case, going 40-11 in the 1969-70 season and 40-12 in 1972-73.

This year, as the calendar approaches the 60-game point, only three teams meet the criteria. They are the defending-champion Boston Celtics, who have shaken off a midseason swoon to win 10 of their last 11 games; the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the NBA’s best defense; and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who overhauled their team with new head coach Kenny Atkinson’s turbocharged attack.

Casual NBA fans often gripe that the regular season, with an 82-game slate that allows more than half the league’s teams into the playoffs, doesn’t matter anymore. But looked at through the lens of the “40-20” rule, history suggests something different: that regular-season dominance is the easiest way to forecast playoff success. Since the league expanded its playoffs to the current 16-team format, in the 1983-84 season, 40 teams have been crowned NBA champions, excluding the lockout-shortened 1998-99 year.

In all, 36 of those—90%—met the “40-20” criteria.

If you’re a fan of one of the other 27 teams, don’t write off the season just yet, though. Because like any good rule, this one has some exceptions. Among the teams that didn’t hit the mark in the regular season and still went on to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy in the summer are the 1995 Houston Rockets and 2004 Detroit Pistons.

Both teams traded for a star player in the middle of the season. In Houston’s case, it was a deal for guard Clyde Drexler. In Detroit’s case, forward Rasheed Wallace rode to the rescue.

If those scenarios sound a little familiar, it’s because there’s a team that sits at 35-21 this season and still harbors championship hopes. The Lakers are an altogether different team than the one started the season, having traded this month for superstar guard Luka Doncic. They have won 13 of their last 16 games.

Now they just have one thing left to do: beat history.

This is the best ongoing NBA bit ever LOL.   Just randomly blasting the Utah fanbase every so often.   Its hilarious

You don't know Luka. He took a similarly flawed roster to the WCF in 22.

I don't think you're interpreting that gif correctly.

The Suns are about to lose to NO at home. They need to get what they can for Book and KD and then fire everyone at every level in their organization and try again.

I mean they're giving Philly a run for it's money as far as trainwreck orgs this season go.

Steph drops 56 on the magic. I'm not sure what I think of this iteration of the Warriors with Jimmy. I guess I feel like the West is wide open and at this point in time there are probably 7-8 teams I would not be shocked to see in the WCF and possibly even the Finals. Obviously the Thunder should be and are the prohibitive favorites but something about not seeing a team do it before leaves you a little skeptical...

On the other hand in the East I feel like I would be very surprised if it wasn't Boston v Cleveland in the ECF.

If they keep Chet and Hartenstein healthy I'd take OKC over the field.

Minny trying to claw their way back in this 1H in LA. Game has been fairly even but LA has hit more 3s.

I say that and then NAW goes 1/3 from the FT line.

Minny gets it to 11 at half. They'll have a shot in this one.

Ant is so fucking effervescent, man. I wouldn't trade Wemby for him but I'd pick up the phone at least.

Lol Ant just got ejected.

Fuck the Lakers from the bottom of my heart. Entitled, soulless organization with countless undeserved titles.

What a fucking joke.

Ant threw the ball in the stands. Good for him.
