As a Rockets fan, who should I be rooting for in the Lakers v GSW game? Both teams are extremely unlikeable.

GSW

LA only 2 back of 2 seed

He did finger guns earlier in the game.

Also came off like a total dickhead in the post-game interview.

He's definitely entertaining I'll give him that.

I understand why Golden State traded for Jimmy--you can't waste the late prime of the dude who put literal billions into your pockets on a boring, uncompetitive team--but definitely weird seeing a guy set to make $60M accepting his role as essentially a glue guy.

GS controlled that game from about the 2nd quarter onwards, Lakers never could catch up.  GS plays Denver tonight, and if they win it, they could be in the mix for the #3 seed by the end of this. They have a somewhat favorable schedule to close out. That 3 spot has got to be pretty attractive to some of those teams, because going through Houston in the second round is going to be a lot easier than OKC.

Or Houston loses and you get home court again.

The 8 is obviously murder. The 7 is potentially a really nice slot. The 6 is better than the 5 and maybe better than the 4.

I don't think I've ever seen this many good teams this close this late in the season with some weird wrinkles as to what seed you want.

We may see a pretty wacky last few games like it's the last day of the premier league season and everyone is watching scoreboards 😂

At a time when the NBA is pretty desperate for a marketable young American star.

Lakers >>> Warriors

Steph is cool, everyone else sucks shit and they have a coach and team full of crybabies that constantly run moving screens.

Lakers are a bad matchup in my head. Brooks turns into a pumpkin, 2 superstars and a full bench of guys that can knock down 3’s.

And everyone wants to play the Rockets.  Watch what you wish for.

That seems to be the sexy thought…no superstar, light experience sans a few players.

But they’ll always have good defense to win them games if the shots aren’t falling.

I hope MN gets matched with Memphis or LAL

You have zero playoff experience and Jalen Green is your best shotmaker. I think Houston can win a round but they aren't making the conference Finals. Too many dogs in that bracket.

Sengun seemed ok tonight

I'm happy to take action on HOU advancing past the conference semis.

By the way - I think they're a solid team with a lot of promise. I just don't see it happening this year.

Thought this was funny. The other night my 15 yo was hanging out with me while I was watching hoops. He doesn't have much interest in it anymore. When he was like 7-8 he was very into it, knew players and teams, watched games with me, etc. Now he doesn't care at all but will humor me when I tell him Jimmy Butler got traded to the Warriors kind of stuff. So anyway the Laker game was on, and I had told him about the trade so he wasn't surprised to see Luka on the Lakers but after watching for a minute he goes: "Dad! Is Luka Doncic FAT now??"

Sucks LA went absolutely nuts from 3, but they probably avoid most play in talk now especially if they split between  1 of their upcoming games with Houston or OKC.  Still have the luka homecoming game, that could go either way.

Denver & GS losing helps. Denver sitting everybody vs San Antonio was stupid. @ Sacramento isn't an easy game by all means, and follow that with Grizzlies.

after tomorrows national championship, this week of the NBA is going to be absolutely insane through sunday

In a weird way, OKC losing to LA helps OKC in that they avoid them in the second round.  However, they'll get maybe Denver or GS.  On paper, GS would be the better option for Steph is still Steph and Butler is great in the playoffs.

The Lakers did the same shit against the Rockets. Finney-Smith and Gilbert had 40 points off the bench. They have some legitimate shooters, but they can’t keep this clip up.

If they are all healthy? With any three of LBJ, Luka, Rui and Reaves on the floor DFS and Gilbert are going to get a LOT of open looks.
I think the Lakers are going to be in the WCF maybe win it. Fuck Nico.

Sure they’re going to get open looks, but DFS and Gilbert aren’t going to knock down 6-7 treys in a row like they have this past week.

80% from 3 isn’t sustainable.

It definitely fell off in the 2nd half where they made 7 instead of 15 3s but the game was well decided by then.

I might be wrong on the Rockets. Another big W last night. Is the UH energy transitive if they win tonight?

OKC seems like they're bored at this point.

Just not sure what to expect from any of these series except I don't love Memphis or Denver and I'd be shocked if OKC loses.

Btw Simmons called that Nuggets 2OT loss "catastrophic" 😂

I can't help but wonder how different Houston's prospects would be (this year and in the near future) if they had done the obvious and picked Castle instead of Reed Shepherd.

I was wrong.

Denver (now losers of 4 in a row) will not be a tough out in the playoffs.

As always, they are completely dependent on Jamal Murray.  As he goes, so goes the team.  He's been out the last 5 games.  I do not have high expectations for the playoffs, but if Jamal can get healthy in time they are still a tough out.

Feels like the Nuggets got cute after the TWolves double OT loss + Murray injury and this thing quickly jumped the tracks.

Simmons is somewhat right. The double OT loss + resting all of their starters against the Spurs was catastrophic. I doubt we’ll ever know for sure, but did the front office or Malone order resting their starters?

I think they’ll be fine if healthy and stay in the 4/5 seed. Falling to 6, and playing the Lakers wouldn’t be ideal.

The Grizz seem to be disarray. As a Rockets fan, I hope they emerge as the 7/8 winner.

No change IMO.

Houston has multiple better players who play his role and he is not a PG. He would be buried behind Cam.

Reed’s upside still just as high as it was when he was drafted. Team is just good.

Hell, Cam is a 20pt a night guy on the Spurs this season. (*pre fox)

Jabari Smith

Tari Eason

Amen Thompson

Dylan Brooks

J Tate

What? Have you ever watched Stephon Castle play a basketball game?

Yes. He is a great young player but cant shoot and we have better defenders. Speaking this year only he doesn’t move the needle for Houston

Neither does Sheppard because they can't play him with FVV because they're both 6 feet tall.  Castle has an NBA body and can play and guard multiple positions.

If you're going to commit big money to FVV, fine but I don't recommend, then you can't draft another undersized point guard.

In a redraft, no one would take Sheppard over Castle.
