Joker is fucking unreal. At this point, I'm willing to listen to arguments that he could become probably will become the GOAT. Minutes/rings are the only thing holding him back in my mind. Only 29 so he needs to prove longetivity and probably another ring or two, but gotdamn....

Okay, but who do we believe?

Windhorst:

The Grizzlies are lurking in Butler trade talks, sources said, and have been in contact with the Heat during the process. Rival league executives believe Memphis is trying to combine a talent influx with offloading some future salary so it can facilitate a contract extension for Jaren Jackson Jr. as early as this summer.

Butler, meanwhile, has made it known that he could opt out of his contract this summer and seek free agency. Sources have theorized that if the Grizzlies can acquire him for a playoff run and also free cap space this summer, that's where their interests might lie.

Um that's way more than 66 feet. Closer to 80.

Think it's 73-75ish based on some quick math.

Apparently his first buzzer beater heave that went in.  Was 0-37 before that.

Good on him for continuing to take them. I know I've said it 1000 times, but my personal pet peeve is dudes who swallow the ball at the end of quarters.

Didn't he beat the Warriors on one last year from just inside half court?

and he’s still second in the league in 3p%.

also, we’re back at that point where we’re just going to pretend that jokic isn’t the blatantly obvious mvp.

IMG_2689.thumb.jpeg.1fa9e7f88bf5cbb9d60b3878d2f25069.jpeg

how’d that joel embiid mvp farce work out?

Posted

SGA is right behind him in every advanced stat and his team is 8 wins better. I would vote Jokic but it's them 2 and then everyone else right now and I'd say they'd both be deserving.

Jokic's biggest obstacle is MVP fatigue.

Nuggets fans would take the snub if it means another championship, just like the year Embiid won.

the first thing i thought when i saw jokic’s shot was, “another thing that makes jokic a unicorn.” those just-after-the-buzzer heaves are so, so weak.

Vince Carter played for the New Jersey Nets from 2004/05 to 2008/09.  During those 5 seasons, the Nets finished over .500 twice, and went 2-3 in the playoffs. Carter made the All Star game twice.

reportedly Vince was so moved when he found out the nets were retiring his jersey he could barley speak. all he could say was, “who?”.

If they are going to keep letting him compete when he isnt really in the league they may as well start signing some of the professional dunkers to 10 day/g-league contracts and make it a real competition

Exactly. Why the fuck does Mac McClung get this kind of carve out? Pretending like he's one of the best dunkers who ever lived, and we just can't miss out on seeing him. Can go on YouTube and find a dozen better, including other white guys since, let's be honest, that plays a big part.

•make it 6-8 dunkers again

•no props

•you get two attempts per dunk

•scoring is 0-100 with decimals

•winner gets $1M

boom, the dunk contest is back. you won’t have dr.j, jordan, or kobe participating,  it kai jones, ausar thompson, shaedon sharpe, and plenty other freak athletes will compete and will actually put on a show. the dunk contest would once again be the main event of all all star games, as it should be.

I guess someone will take the leap to get him and maybe his agent has back-channeled it with a team already but I dont know why any team would.   Every place he has been has ended exactly the same way.  It would just be a matter of time before it would end that way with your team.   He isnt even that good anymore and more importantly, available enough to justify the bullshit that comes with him.

The only way the dunk contest will ever be the main event of an all star game is if all stars compete in it. No more scrubs

lavine and gordon were relative unknowns when they put on what ended up being two of the most legendary dunk contests ever. you put a million dollars on the line, you get the actual best dunkers, you get rid of the props and incessant misses, and you’ll have a dunk contest that will get lots of real-time views and will go viral on social media, creating more interest for the next one. it’ll never happen, but it would work.
