Hey do any of y'all have season tickets or have a ticket hook-up? Maybe someone not trying to go to all 41?

Me and a buddy are wanting to hit some games this season. Monday nights work best for my schedule - first one would be SAC on Nov 11th.

If anyone has a lead on that game or any others lmk.

We would pay close to face/market value. Looking for 2-3 seats - if it's 3 my brother that's currently at UT gets to come.

I don’t have tickets, but your boy Jeremy has finally arrived.

They lost that game in the first half. You can't turn it over like that and expect to win. It doesn't help when they do dumb shit down the stretch, but they put themselves in a terrible hole.

Wemby hasn't figured out that Dillon Brooks has no business guarding him. I'm not sure why they aren't setting back picks for him coming across the lane or doing more shit to free him up. It's ridiculous. He should be shitting on him every time down the floor. Frustrating.

They ran a pick for him one fucking time at the top of the key and it led to an assist. The rest of the time, nothing.

It must be nice to have people on your team that you can count on to hit threes. The Spurs don't have anyone that can do that right now. Super frustrating.

I will add dribbling and also passing to that list.

I really love our “leave your man to cheat towards the key and watch the opposing team (who is on fire) hit them in your face with astounding regularity because it’s a shitty defensive concept in todays NBA” defense. It’s quintessential Poppovian strategy.

Still not sold on Champagnie (sp). He's just as streaky as Keldon but plays a bit harder defense? Hm

I guess I also forget he's just keeping Devin's spot warm though. We need more shooting baaaaad.

Yeah I don't think anyone here is sold on Champagne.

Wemby stinking up the joint tonight. He hasn’t looked right at any point this season.

He is most definitely not being put in positions to succeed. I assume we have a coach. I only see him when he’s pontificating on politics or hugging the opposing coach after a loss. The piece on him telling Wemby not to be a pussy when other teams foul him, I mean play physical with him is an all timer.

I mean at certain point it is on Wemby. He has the ball with a defender a foot shorter guarding him and he doesn't do shit. The times where he does make a move they fucking swarm him because we can't shoot. He gets the ball swiped away way too often as well as trying too many dumb passes. He's been careless with the basketball.

When he catches the basketball he needs to be immediately going into his move. Stop letting them set their defense up to swarm you. Force the action.

100% agree. On the other hand, as the coach, maybe stop that shit from happening? Run different actions? He’s one of our worst three point shooters. Maybe dissuade him from the half court pull-up? When he has the ball, run a fucking screen for him? I don’t feel like this is all about the lack of shooting. This team is unimaginative other than the freak of nature at center. They’ve been making the same defensive mistakes for the last five years. I get that they suck and were trying to tank but I’m really hoping for some improvement over this season. Or, Cooper Flagg come on down!

I'm hoping it is due to him being under the weather....he's been good on defense, shit on offense the last 2 games. He surely doesn't look quite right.

This roster should not be trying to tank. Chris Paul didn't sign up to tank.

In fairness - we lost to the best team in the league, on the road, without our 3rdish? best player by 12 points.

I don't really have faith that Pop still knows what he's doing because he hasn't proven it yet but regardless of the HC Wemby shouldn't be clocking in performances like that.

Vic needs to get his shit together and be tighter and work harder. I'm not buying any physical limitation shit - dude was one of the best 10 players in the league post-ASB last season.

He has gained 25 lbs as well, so maybe he's still adjusting his mobility to this new frame

This is a actually a good point.

@Kermit and I are going to continue to be inconsolable assholes about various aspects of the team but we would like you to stick around to potentially bring the tone down every once in awhile.

Let me just ask you this - what are your thoughts on Patty Mills post 2017?

I always thought of him as a journeyman who maybe stuck around a little too long, but he's likeable and that means something to me especially on teams with a strong emphasis on culture. Pop has always valued that, which is probably why he wanted to bring some veterans in.

Even though I hate Chris Paul, I am grateful that he and Harrison Barnes are on the roster to balance out the youth and inexperience. They're guys who've been in many deep playoff runs, and those intangibles pay dividends later in the season. It's true that a 12 point loss to OKC in OKC is nothing to be too ashamed of, but I also agree that the way the team looked while losing is disappointing. If this becomes a habit, I will probably become more vocally critical of the team and Wemby.

I'm curious to see what we look like with Vassell back.

I'm trying not kneejerk. It's only four games, all against playoff-ish level teams. The competition needs to be considered when looking at all of this. And they desperately miss Vassell.

It's disappointing that Wemby has struggled so much. He was on such a crazy trajectory toward the end of last season and he seemed pretty fucking okay in the Olympics. But this is a regression when everyone was expecting a leap, small sample size notwithstanding. And they for sure aren't doing him any favors with the actions they run. But for fuck's sake, he's got a foot on Brooks and Caruso and they are pushing him out to the three point line. He can't let that happen.

Aside from that, I think there have been some bright spots. Just a few observations, good and bad:

  • They are playing better team defense. They are taking some lumps at the three point line, but the effort is much better.
  • Sochan is doing work. He's probably never going to be any outside threat, but he's averaging 18.5 and 9, and they aren't running anything for him. He's getting all of that through hustle and being in the right place at the right time. He's also playing great individual defense. It's not an accident that SGA was 7/20 and only got to the line twice last night. He's been the brightest spot so far by far.
  • Barnes has been better than I thought. Just being a mediocre three point threat is enough to make him one of the more valuable pieces on the roster.
  • Chris Paul is getting by strictly on his smarts because he looks washed physically. Watch how quickly he gives up the ball when he gets pressured in the backcourt. He wants nothing to do with dribbling up the court when he's being hounded by some athletic freak 20 years his junior. Not that I blame him. He's also turning it over at a alarming rate for a guy who is supposed to be the stabilizing force. But the turnovers are an epidemic at this point, teamwide. They are averaging 19 per game. It's ridiculous.
  • It goes without saying, but in a league where the best teams are shooting it from beyond the arc 40+ times per game, this team is woefully lacking shooters. Branham may be the worst player in the league, but the fucker is shooting 58% from three so far. I'm sure he will regress to the mean and be 0-8 against Utah tonight, but they desperately need someone to spread the floor even if he can't play defense worth a shit.
  • I still love Castle. And I love how the lineup with he and Wesley play defense. But it's tough to put those guys out there together when they don't need to be guarded outside of 15 feet. They go under every screen. I don't understand what's wrong with Castle's shot. The form looks good, it just seems like he rushes it. I say fuck it and let him launch 5 threes a game until he starts making them or it completely destroys his confidence.

It's still early. Young teams are still gonna act like young teams. Win a few you shouldn't, lose a few you shouldn't. Wemby is off his peak performance but he'll get there. I expect them to be in contention for a play-in.

Of all of the basketball games I've watched - this is one of them.

The good: 40 year old Chris Paul is keeping us in it

The bad: 40 year old Chris Paul is keeping us in it

Thirteen of Wemby's 20 shots from the floor have been from deep. He's made four of those.

Meanwhile, he's 5-of-7 inside the arc. Shit like that has gotta drive Pops nuts.

All the same, pretty excellent effort from Victor--25 points, nine boards, seven assists, five steals and five blocks.
