Watching the Rockets/Memphis game and Aldama only has 5 points which is weird, I could have sworn he was All-NBA after watching him play against us.

Did you also notice how many good players the Rockets have that we don't have because we draft and roster-manage like shit.

Don Harris (SA local broadcast sports guy?) tweeted earlier today: "Spurs very active and perhaps close on complicated 4-team deal that would bring D'Aaron Fox to San Antoio. Stay Tuned"

4 team deal gets me excited. Maybe finessing our way out of giving up both Castle and Vassell and all our 1st-round capital.

3 players will be leaving SA plus picks, allegedly not players that you’d think Sacramento would want

spurs will allegedly be a much better team after this

could be announced prior to game and if not just look at bench of players

Giannis seems like a giant pussy sometimes. Chris Paul barely pushed him to intentionally foul him, Giannis flies out of bounds, and then points and tries to start shit with Chris for the rest of the game, even after the game he wouldn't stop chirping at him. The whole time Chris was like "wtf? I barely touched you."

The Rockets are 32-14.

The Grizzlies are 31-16.

Is anyone ready to hold our front office accountable yet?

The rockets had three straight years of 17-22 wins directly after blowing it up with the Harden trade, which netted them pick 2, 3, and 4 and then 3 (from Brooklyn via Harden trade) in successive drafts along with a bevy of other first round picks. They busted on guys like Garuda, Josh Christopher, Ty Ty Washington. Hell, Jalen Green looked like a bust as recently as last season. Sengun was a spurs fuck up but do they get Wemby if they make that pick instead of Primo? Sliding doors and all.

Regardless, Houston is rightfully ahead of the Spurs schedule. They started their true rebuild two years ahead. Memphis drafted Ja and JJJ in successive drafts, 6 years ago, that is the core of their team. They are vets now. They’ve done a great job finding guys late like Bane and their recent drafts have been great but they are on a different timeline than the Spurs.

This thing is going to take some patience, regardless of how ridiculous Wemby is. He’s still only in year 2. Castle is a rookie and showing more every night. Getting Fox would obviously accelerate the timeline but this team is going to be contending a lot sooner than later. They need more vets and shooters, but they aren’t that far off.

I also think the Spurs would have 3-4 more wins if Pop were at the reins. Too many games fell apart at the seams late in the game in ways that, although characteristic of a young team, are also preventable with better coaching. So the gap between the Spurs and Rockets isn't quite that great. I think postseason experience would be much better for the Spurs than tanking.

I watched it 3-4 times. His fingers grazed him. It was way more air than force. Maybe Giannis is so frail that air blows him over?

Watching pregame and they introduced this kid whose favorite player is Keldon.

Parenting failure imo to not teach the kid about advanced metrics.

KJ had a weird affect post-game last night. I think if a deal gets done then he's for sure gone. Seems like a good dude and he's easy to root for - just never developed past his 2nd season.

In fact, it's actually fucking uncanny. Here is his sophomore season listed first (2021) - I'll use per 100 possession numbers i.e. his rate/% statistics because the minutes per game is a bit different:

PTS/REB/AST/STL/BLK/TOV/PF:

21.7 / 10.2 / 3.0 / 1.0 / 0.6 / 1.9 / 3.5

and his shooting splits: .479/.331/.740

Now here's this season:

24.8 / 9.7 / 2.8 / 1.3 / 0.5 / 1.7 / 3.0

.468/.305/.762

HE'S THE SAME FUCKING PLAYER!

Bonus stats:

ORTG/DRTG:

111/114

113/116

WS/48:

.079

.084

BPM:

-1.6

-1.8

PER:

13.8

14.6

TS%:

.557

.557

(that one takes the cake)

Just a really weird developmental curve or lack thereof. I mean that isn't last season and this season, that is FOUR years ago and this season for a guy turning 26 in October.

I don't blame the deal we gave him - I just don't see him being a part of the future here.

Johnson and Collins make it work financially per the reports.  Have to think additional young player and picks.  Guess I have to pay attention again

Something like this works.  Maybe the Kings would also trade off Derozan to someone to give Keldon some space.

Full trade:

Full trade: Spurs: De'Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin

Kings: Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first round picks (2025 CHA, 2027 SAS, 2031 MIN), three second round picks (2025 CHI, 2028 DEN, 2028 own back)

Bulls: Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick via SAS

As much as I can decipher..... Spurs gave up 2 first rounders and couple of 2nds????  I may be off.

I think McLaughlin gets waived.

KJ survives a round of Russian Roulette - but his minutes are about to take a hit. Again. Not a bad thing.

This is honestly masterwork shit from Wright. I have faith in these FO dickheads again.

We still need to figure the HC shit out but as of now we have a fucking rotation, boys.

WE GOT A ROSTER - Y'ALL!

The spurs fucked them. None of the Atlanta picks. None of the core players. The Charlotte pick which won’t convey. The bulls pick which is unlikely to convey. They do give up an unprotected 2027 pick and the Minnesota pick. So basically they gave up two first rounders for Fox.

Basically the best pick they gave up was the one for Dillingham in 6 years.  Here it's broken down:

The Spurs got De'Aaron Fox while sending out four firsts.

One is a Hornets first that will convey into two seconds.

One is a Bulls that is probably never going to convey. And another is one of their own in 2027.

The only of value they sent out IMO is the 2031 Wolves pick.

They still have a lot of good picks left for future moves.

I'm giving props to the Spurs FO, first and foremost. I've been talking shit all season because I was hitting my breaking point but they came through and put a money fucking deal together.

Let's go make the playoffs and be a nightmare for someone in the 1st round.

GSG.

Oh - shit - what I also meant to say.

We need to give huge props to Fox. He named us as his landing spot and as a result it definitely helped our leverage while negotiating.

I only clicked on this thread because the Spurs made a nice pickup and I see you doing your sad internet bully routine

No one here gives a shit leave the Spurs thread alone unless you're a Spurs fan.

Do you want to be a Spurs fan? Then quit being a dickhead in our thread.
