and you can't use it on its own, so it begs the question - why keep sending it out?

They send those out to verify if the addresses are still accurate.  They figure if the post office returns the registration card as undeliverable the voter has moved, so their registration will be put under suspense, until the voter goes online, comes in or calls and updates the info.

I might have missed this, but didn't realize until today that you can go to the Texas SoS website and validate that your vote has been counted.

https://earlyvoting.texas-election.com/Elections/getElectionDetails.do

Select NOV 5TH GENERAL ELECTION, then enter the date you voted.  Download csv file where you can find your name.

cool. just checked and my fiance and I are on there

If you have a kid going to school in Texas away from the county in which they were registered (or if you recently moved out of the county in which you were registered) and that person still has not registered in the new county of residence, that person can vote a "limited ballot" (federal and statewide elections) at the main polling place in the new county of residence. In Austin, that means the Airport BLVD polling place. This little tidbit just saved my son an 8 hour round trip drive home to vote. Hopefully, it will help someone else.

But you can only vote a limited ballot up until the last day of EV, or this Friday.  No limited ballots on ED.

Correct.  Thanks for catching that omission on my part.  Also, if you do this, you are, thereafter, registered in the county in which you cast your limited ballot.

Not sure where else to put this. We’re having a potluck at our polling location tomorrow. When our VLM brought it up during the primary election in March, one dude (Bob) volunteered to bring chili. I knew right then what kind of “chili” it was going to be.

Today I got confirmation. Bob sent out a pic of his vegetable beef soup with beans that he’s calling “chili.”

Good grief. At least there’s no corn in it. And to be fair it looks like a decent homemade version of Wendy’s chili. And it looks better than Jade’s. But I knew it was going to be something like this and I’m going to have to keep my thoughts to myself tomorrow and try to maintain a professional work atmosphere. It’s not going to be easy.

There's no need for me to comment on the beans, but yeah, those onions and green bell peppers are gonna give it a real kick. I'm not sure how you'll be able to stomach that kind of spice.

I’m bringing diced fresh habaneros and scorpion Tabasco sauce to give my bowl some zing.

Link to tonight's rally. If anyone wants to open an extra tab while waiting, Lady Gaga is warming up the crowd now.

Edit: Doug just took the stage.

Lady Gaga can sing...

At this point, Andy Samberg is more Doug than Doug.

Just had some guy come in looking for the person in charge. (The VLM in this case.) He said he wants to hand out sample ballots outside and the flags are supposed to be 100 feet from the door but they’re 150 feet. The flags don’t delineate the boundary and Andy our VLM explained that there are little signs out there at 100 feet to designate where the restricted area begins.

I guarantee that guy is a Trumper.

We were slammed this morning but things are really dead right now. Just three voters in the room at the moment. I e had way more work at the paper/provisional ballot table than I ever have before. (This is my first presidential election.) Still, we’ve only processed 48 voters total at my table so far, 9 of those provisional. In total we’ve processed 563 regular voters at this location.

We’re expecting another rush here soon when people are getting off work.

What is the boundary (in feet) for candidates and campain materials to avoid?  I just voted and was hit up by some lady running for ___ and she was probably 30 feet from the door to the polling location.  I politely told her to fuck off, but politely in my polite voter voice.

100 ft from the entrance(s) of the polling site.

Call it in, the more cases we can point to, the better later on.  1-844-898 6837

Just more and more of them trying to take a foot when you give an inch.  Same with wearing MAGA crap inside, or using PAs and bullhorns outside.   Like daring you to say something.  The most childish group of people ever.

I saw one woman today wearing a Make America Kind Again shirt. That was refreshing.

Man, I really wanted to come on this thread and make a post about how much I loved working my voting location today. I woke up at 4a and then worked until nearly 9p with only a 15 minute break. I interacted with so many first time voters and people that were truly invigorated to exercise their civic duty. We made a huge deal about first time voters, who ranged from the young females to the middle aged guy who whispered to me that he was embarrassed to tell me that he was about to vote for the first time. I even got a local celebrity athlete through my line and played it cool. I still loved doing it, but after four elections this year, I need a break. Fortunately, I guess, we might not have federal elections four years from now.
