I am still wondering why Brandon Belt got black balled last season. His 2023 wasn't atrocious.

Yeah, 2023 Belt on the 2024 Astros would have been a huge improvement.  Even midyear after we dumped Abreu I wish we would have signed him.  I'm not sure how I'm going to handle another year of Singleton taking 75% of the atbats at 1B.

Word on the street is the Astros offer to Bregman was $156M/6yrs and was based on topping what Matt Chapman signed for with the Giants; Chapman is a year older but is coming off a better year.  It is a “competitive” offer although I will be shocked if Bregman accepts it.

It will be interesting.  I don't think there's gonna be a huge market for him because of the awful starts.  Good luck to a gm explaining to their fan base that it's completely normal for their new 30 million dollar 3rd basemen to bat .200 for the first couple months of every season.

his slow starts grow longer and longer every season

curious how much boras will push him to chase the biggest offer vs best fit

If he does it won't be for a while

I’m okay letting him walk if he wants more than that.  Maybe that pushes the Astros to be more aggressive with Tucker to either extend or trade.

If it wasn't for the 40 man requirement, I would have initially assumed they traded for him to fill out Sugarland's roster.

You missed his strikeout numbers.  They're really good.

Trammell is a lefty bat who has hit righties fairly well and can play CF.  Might be a good platoon mate for Meyers or McCormick.  One interesting thing is that he’s out of options.  Cabbage, who was DFA to make room (and claimed by the Pirates) still had an option remaining (and had some experience at 1B).  As long as it was just minimal cash going to NY then it’s a fine swap.  But it does look like they expect him to make the opening day roster.
