Sounds like Smith is gonna need another year in the minors.  He was in AA last year.

Yep. Huge sophomore year for FL State and then quickly mashed his way through A and A+ (27 games) before spending the final week of the season in AA. I imagine he starts 2025 in Corpus, but should have a pretty streamlined path to MLB in 2026.

Unconscionable that Suzuki is not part of the deal. That is fucking total incompetence. Crane can take his $20 tall boys and shove it, I’m not spending hundreds of dollars a game to watch this shit in person anymore. Fucking loser and so is his GM. Brown is worse than fucking Tim Púrpura.

You can't trade for someone who won't waive their no trade

Then you don't do it

Disagree man. I think this is a good deal.

I don't mind Paredes and Smith. Wesneski is meh to me, so I feel like we needed another piece.

I would tried to throw in Pressly and have them include Bellinger (even though he is a bitch)

Yeah, please take our trash too, Chicago!

Sounds like their offer was just Paredes and Smith and we worked to get Wesneski added. Hopefully it works out in 2026 and beyond.

Suzuki made that a palatable deal that I can live with. Without him, we got played. You don’t make that deal without him waiving his no-trade. Bring Tucker back and see where we are at the trade deadline. The incentives to tank that we used so well with the GOAT are no longer there. How long do we have to suffer with Crane who doesn’t realize the game is changed and the same playbook  will not work, especially with a mental midget at GM. Dana has half the brain power of Luhnow.

Icono overreacts?

Yeah, I have been totally overreacting on the Texas football, Texans and Rockets threads this year - you know I’m pretty damn happy with all 3 and think we are in good hands with the people running those teams. Excuse me for being pissed that the dynasty is being destroyed before our eyes with a substandard deal for one of our best, young players. Crane’s irrational aversion to deals longer than 6+ years is not shared any any of the big boys in baseball and shows he is not truly committed to winning by going toe to toe with the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Phillies, etc. for fuck’s sake, at least Drayton kept his core guys long term with this team. Fucking Crane would have let Biggio go to Colorado.

I'm fine with this deal.

I think if Paredes plays 75+ games next season at home, he's almost surely going to hit 25-30 HR. And despite his .232 career average, he gets on base at a decent clip (17% K rate and takes a healthy amount of BB).

Cam Smith seems very likely to be a contributor for us across the 2nd half of this decade.

But man, as it stands currently, our OF look like a giant Achilles Heel in 2025. Yordan's going to primarily DH, so right now get ready for a whole, whole lot of Jake, Chas, Dubon and (insert current minor-leaguer).
