The poor decisions the Astros have made since winning the WS in 22 will haunt Astros fans for their rest of our lives and makes us ask “what if”. Should have won 4 WS with that talent assembled but no we have Crane content to let guys walk. Fuck him.

Bregman and Alonso now. Do it
This would be pointless...thats an "or" situation not an "and"

Paredes already fills the other 3b/1b slot.

Id take 2 of the following: Bregman or Alonso or Walker, Santander, Teoscar

Decent trade.  Not a home run but very good value for a rental, even if it was a borderline mvp caliber player.

Astros lost a net 4 wins in RF, gained a net 2 wins at 3B, gained half a win in pitching, and added ~$10M in available payroll.  Thats the 2025 impact; a net loss of 1-2 wins, pending what they do with that $10M.

For 2026 as beyond, they added ~10 wins at 3B/1B and a couple wins in pitching.

Net net they just traded 1 2025 win for a dozen wins over the next 5 years.  Like homey said in Dances with Wolves, “good trade.”

yankees have money to spend on btegman

they have to go get an established OF (LH).

valdez and pressley are proven trade pieces

I'm withholding judgment until I see how the rest of the off-season plays out. If we don't fill any of the holes in the outfield/1st base I'm gonna be pissed.

We now have a little extra money to make a run at a free agent and a surplus of starting pitchers (can try to trade Framber for an MLB caliber player). Front office needs to make something happen.

Major holes: 1B, RF

Minor holes: LF/CF, SP

~$30M in available payroll.  They can use that along with trading Framber and Pressly and go into 2025 with an extremely deep lineup, a much improved farm system, and a good pitching staff that carries a lot of upside/risk.  Let’s see how the rest of the offseason plays out.  Christian Walker might be in play if his market doesn’t develop.  Hell, Bregman might still be in play.

If they move Pressly we get even more money

Here’s a full look at Isaac’s spray chart. If we’re not in position to play moneyball, then the best we can do is find players that suit our ballpark the best

I think they have to move Valdez for an outfielder.

Also, I don’t understand how Tampa managed to trade a decent reliever, a AAAA 3b and a lotto ticket pitcher for Paredes and the cost for us is one of the best players in baseball.

Assuming you meant Cubs in that last sentence, and 1) many wondered at the time why TB sold so low and 2) there's a top 100 prospect/recent 1st round pick and ML caliber pitcher coming with him this time.

Cubs' GM is in the last year of his deal, so it makes sense they would offer the best package for one year of Tucker.

Hope he destroys the Cardinals. Or maybe he has a shitty year, and we sign him as defending champs!

The Astros tried to sign Tucker to a long term deal, Tucker told them no every season, Tucker was always going to FA because that is what Boras told him to do. Connor is not right because you can't force a guy to sign when he and his agent are saying no we want FA as soon as possible.

Connor is right as usual about Crane and Dana. I hope attendance craters. Sell the team.

Tucker gladly would've signed a 8+ year deal at $50m/yr in previous years if we bypassed his final years of club control and he went straight to $50m. He wasn't signing a deal like the extensions Yordan and Bregman signed in the past.
