No, but Pena can. Put his ass in the OF.

Lol i actually had this thought earlier this week. Just sign Bregman to play SS and let Pena fuck around in the OF

Team Peña in the OF if for nothing else than the lulz at watching his goofy ass running gait tracking down fly balls

If the Astros signed Bregman, Paredes would become the everyday LF.  Chas would also play every day, CF against RHP and RF against LHP.  Meyers would play CF against LHP.  They’d still need to find a CF/RF to play against RHP, as if they did nothing, that spot would be a spring competition between Trammell, Hummel, Dezenzo, Whitcomb, Leon, Melton, and Corona.  That wouldn’t be the end of the world since that player would slot into the 7 or 8 hole and would only play 70% of the games (only against RHP).  Trammell, Dezenzo, and Hummel all would project to be roughly league average in that role with upside for more (especially Dezenzo).

Holy shit seeing all these names and remembering who our manager is makes me curl up in the fetal position at the thought of another season of 162 different lineup combinations.

I don’t think it’s really Espada that’s behind that.  I think between analytics around injury prevention (scheduling rest days for regulars) and platoon splits, the manager is just following the data he’s given.

But I think Houston will end up adding one “everyday” OF then maybe one platoon guy, which would give them 8 everyday players and 1 platoon (Meyers and a guy who hits RHP).

From The Athletic (you know the Dinos do a great job developing pitching!)

Quote

Kyle Hart hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2020, but a handful of clubs have expressed interest in him as either a back-end starter or multi-inning reliever after the lefty seemingly revived his career in South Korea. After languishing in the minor leagues the previous couple of seasons, Hart elected to sign with the NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball Organization last winter.

In 26 starts (157 innings), Hart, 32, had a 2.69 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 182 strikeouts. In South Korea, Hart pitched more off his fastball, which allowed his slider to act more like a chase pitch. At the start of the offseason, FanGraphs ranked Hart as its No. 48 free agent.

The Yankees, Brewers, Twins, Astros and Orioles are among the teams that have indicated interest, league sources said.
