One interesting thing is that he’s out of options.

You’d think they would have learned their lesson about that with Singleton

WE HAVE MADE THE FOLLOWING TRANSACTIONS:

- We have acquired OF Taylor Trammell from the New York Yankees in exchange for cash considerations.

- We outrighted two players off the 40-man roster: RHP Oliver Ortega and RHP José Urquidy.

- OF Trey Cabbage, RHP Seth Martinez and RHP Penn Murfee were claimed off waivers by other clubs, with Cabbage going to Pittsburgh, Martinez to Arizona, and Murfee to Chicago (AL).

- Five players that had been on the 60-day Injured List at the end of the season have been returned to the 40-man roster: RHP J.P. France, RHP Luis Garcia, RHP Cristian Javier, RHP Lance McCullers Jr. and LHP Bennett Sousa.

Seems so weird to me.  They still want to sell tickets while they're in Sacramento right?  Why the slap in the face of not taking the city name?

Catching a series in Sacramento then driving down to Yosemite for a few days would be fun.

So Cole cancelled his opt out?  I didn't know you could do that.

Quote

Ultimately, Major League Baseball and the MLB Players’ Association signed off on both sides agreeing to nix the fifth-year option, essentially reversing Cole’s deal as though he had never opted out. That agreement had to be reached and approved by 5 p.m. ET on Monday; Cashman said that it was finalized about an hour before the deadline.

Astros Predicted to Sign Three-Time Gold Glove Winner to $60 Million Deal

Rymer predicts Walker will sign with Houston on a three-year, $60 million deal. The veteran would be the perfect player to add to the Astros' infield mix.

Walker has built a sterling defensive reputation. That's evidenced by winning three straight Gold Glove Awards between 2022 and 2024. He's also been a top producer in the batter's box. The veteran has slashed .250/.332/.481 since 2022, averaging 32 home runs, 29 doubles, 94 RBI and 81 runs scored per season.

I don’t want JV back. This team has no margin for error given the expected payroll. At his age, he can’t be expected to hold down a spot in the rotation.

Once we sign Bregman we're gonna be presumably well over the Tax apron. What's another 6 more.

I don’t think they will sign Bregman. I would love to be wrong on that.

Dana took some pretty hard line stances on his quotes yesterday. I had basically written him off as well so I guess let's see.

Yep. Bregman will want more than he's worth or what the Astros will want to offer. If they could trade Pressly and Caratini to create space that would be a big help. Resignning an old as fuck starting pitcher that struggled to stay healthy all last season is a bad idea.
