Yes- it looks awful. I have an Apple TV 4K on a new LG plasma. The Georgia-Clemson opener was particularly terrible- almost pastel colors or something. Cancelled 4K package after the Georgia-Bama game looked like shit.

Calibrate your TV. Google the model and calibration settings.

Saturday will be my first time attending this game since they got rid of the physical game tickets, which used to have a separate stub for admission to the Fair.  The electronic ticket doesn't say anything about Fair admission on it.
Do they scan your game ticket twice, once at the Fair entrance and again when you enter the stadium?

Yes, that’s how it works.

16-22-1, that's depressing for my lifetime but Sark has a chance here with ole fire hose to correct that nonsense. If he rattles off 4 or 5 wins in a row that will be a dead even split with a pretty good football school. In Sark we trust.

Assuming that Arnold’s camp wants to preserve his redshirt, we’re a broken shoelace away from the Casey Thompson show.

The way surprises happen in this game, I won't be surprised to see Casey take a few snaps this Saturday.

Good. For all the flak Herbie gets, he's the best big game announcer on TV.

Yup, ol' Cesspool can be a blithering idiot when it comes to College Gameday commentary, but he and Fowler are a really good combo for calling a game.

I have been watching this game since 1984. The best team wins only if they come out wanting it and ready to play. I can't remember one time when a team brings their B- game and wins no matter how much better they look on paper.

Andy Staples gives some examples in which Texas was a double digit underdog in the last 15 years and won. Sark better have this team ready to go and Quinn can't start off slow again.

OU Sucks!

This damn week is going by to damn slowly. I need the game to start to see what kind of desire to win this Texas team brought with them out of the tunnel.

I think if you're wearing orange or crimson, they don't even check. IIRC the last few years we've just walked in.

Under Sark UT has scored 30 49 and 48 points in this game and is 1-2.  The offense is not and will not be an issue. If the Defense can just be avg this game won’t be close.

Considering how the D has looked so far this year this is going to get ugly for the meth heads.

Dont envision any scenario where OU wins this game.

Stone cold lead pipe lock. UT -14

Is Game Day in Eugene? How the hell is he going to get from Oregon to Dallas and through that traffic to the game by 2:30?

I'm kinda confused on this too. Gameday ends at 11:00 CT. Let's say he has a police escort to the tarmac and can get wheels up by 11:30 CT. Eugene to Dallas is about 3 hours. That already puts him at landing at 2:30 CT? Even if kickoff is actually at 2:45 that seems almost impossible.

OU has had ridiculous fumble luck this year

Opponents have fumbled nine times, and OU has recovered eight of them. OU itself has fumbled five times and has lost two (both by Jackson Arnold vs Tennessee)

OU is averaging intercepting the opponent once per game; two vs Temple, one vs Houston, one vs Tulane, zero vs Tennessee, and one vs Auburn

They're 5th in the country in turnovers gained at 13, and tied for 3rd in turnover margin at +8

Maybe 2009 (Colt's senior year). Don't recall spread but we were a much better team on paper that year I think and barely won.

Y'all ready for some of that "elite defense"?

Throwing deep on them is still the recipe. Same as it has been for the last 25 years.

Mack just insisted on the sideways passing game, which was never part of the formula and why he got us skull-fucked in Dallas over and over and over. That and "withstanding the storm." Fat, butter-toothed bitch.

Offensive line played shitty. But the defense got five turnovers. So we won.

Google says 3 hours, 40 minutes. He'd have to leave well before Gameday is done.

He really was the worst Texas-OU game coach around. Akers, McWilliams, Mackovic, Strong, and Herman all understood the Texas-OU game and always had their team ready to play that game...if not many of the other games. Mack Brown was the opposite. He would specifically suck at this game in particular even if he did great the rest of the season.

It's weird because he was generally pretty great at other big game/rivalry situations. Bowl games, aggy, @Ohio State... There was just something about this game that fucked with his head. So badly that he had players saying things like "We don't need to win this game to play for the Big 12 championship", the week of the game.

I'm excited and nervous about this game.

I feel like this is our first big test of the season (with the way Michigan has looked so far)

On paper, and even just the season vibes so far says Texas should win and cover.

However, as has been said time and time again this is a rivalry game and some squirrelly shit has been known to happen.

We need to start strong and don't stop stomping until they are a thin, pink paste.

Hail to the Thief!

My mother side of the family left east Texas in the 40's. Half moved to Fort Worth the other to OKC School allegiance split down the middle. My cousins, some who are on the board of directors for religious colleges, defend him like he's some kind of saint. He wasn't guilty of anything on campus. Just a couple of bad apple football players. He was run off from ou by jealous, liberal professors. He had nothing to do with the insurance scams and no one could actually prove he slept with his assistant coaches wife. The rampant cheating and paying of players was just creative problem solving.

I watched this last night, well worth the time. Film breakdown of 4 RPO plays, and the QB pre-snap reads.

To be clear, last year after the Alabama game, they opened the show with, "We are stupid, stupid, idiots..."

This video, without saying the obvious, they know the Texas offense is scary good. Sark's play design... maybe the best in CFB, the Texas RPO is the triple option. If they can't stop this, game over. To stop this, their LB and DB will have to make one-on-one tackles is space, and Teddy was ragging on their LB's.  Bond is fast, fast, fast. Marvel at the WR blocking. Think Jake Majors is great. Lost weight, moving quicker; acknowledged how much his injury hurt Texas last year. "If we don't do this ... and this ... and this,...it could be a long day Saturday."

Mack had a similar deal his first go around at UNC vs FSU. My memory is pretty fuzzy, but when Mack first got here, I had a good friend (ou) and he told me a story of Mack sending Stoops some sort of gift basket for the birth of one of their children and Stoops thought it was the funniest thing. Basically Stoops treated the rivalry as a coach should and Mack wanted everyone to get along and have fun. We always matched up talent, but coaching philosophy got us killed many times.

This is why we need to mudhole these motherfuckers for the next decade +

Mack didn't want to play freshman, without knowing or caring this game is littered with freshmen making big plays.

A lot/most risky plays and gambles seem to work for whoever tries them. Some spectacular failures, yes, but being ballsy is rewarded.

Wingo & Simmons gonna feast.

Also the whole "withstand the surge" mentality meant that they were preparing for OU to come out swinging harder. Which they did. And why in a handful of games against them we were in a 21-0 hole in the first quarter.

Yeah but that attitude wasn't that uncommon back in those days. However, playing a few Freshman wasn't going to help Texas when his teams were getting blown out by 50.

Absolutely. OU circled the game every year. Mack just wanted to have fun and make memories, treating this as just another game. Hence why so many Black Saturdays happened. No idea how he had this mindset as this was the one game that stood in his way from more Big 12 titles and national championship appearances than he had.

Jayden Blue - sit or start? Gotta be Wisner and Gibson.
Opponents have film of Blue holding the ball loosely and know that they can easily punch it out.

I don’t know that it’s easily punched out. The second fumble was just on him.

I think i was at all of those "the whole team was swamped by the tidal wave and there are no survivors" games.

I brought a lot more hatred to the stands than Mack did to the sideline. That fat, stupid motherfucker.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t downplay it because he figured he would lose any way and then be able to rip off 4 or 5 straight.

Exhibit A:  2021, first play from scrimmage, TD to true freshman Xavier Worthy.

That kind of play scared Mack to death.

I dunno about that. That pass was a simple screen to a WR, who then blew past two Sooners who played it about as poorly as they could have. I still have PTSD from Greg Davis starting out the game with three of those that blew up directly in his face.

Remember how good Cedric Benson was as a freshman? He'd probably be starting on this 2024 team right now. 0 carries in a game in which we scored 3 points.
