Don't look now, but the Avs have sorted their goaltending issues (at least for the time being) and have won 5 in a row.

I watched a little of the game against Ottawa last night. The Avs now have a true second center with Mittelstadt. He’s tough to move off the puck and he’s a tremendous passer. I also like watching Kovalenko, he’s a tough fucker too. His game reminds me a lot of Lehkonen with how he’s constantly battling in front of the net and with his physicality. Good young player for the Avs.

I was sad when they traded Byram for Mittelstadt but I'm very glad they did.  Not having a solid 2C on the team sucks.  Now the team needs to get healthy.  Still missing Lehki, Drouin, Nuke (suspension ends soon) and Landy.

Speaking of goaltending...

Tkachuk is the asshole you hate until he's on your team.

That was a recent question on r/NHL or hockey, can't remember.

Pronger, Scott Stevens, Verbeek

Corey Perry. I swear I didn't want him on the Stars. But, once he started to groove I was glad to have him most nights.

I did not root for Corey Perry with the Stars.  I always hoped he'd spend every shift with the puck in the neutral zone for the entirety of the shift.

Also, Verbeek was awesome.  Stevens was just a dude who played like his jock was on fire every second he was on the ice.  Fuck Pronger.

I didn't see it happen.

Doesn't sound good. McDavid out.

He was tripped entering the ozone and jammed his left foot into the boards. Didn’t look too serious in full speed but hard to tell exactly what happened.

for me it was Sean Avery. I almost recanted my fandom when we signed him but he lasted like 2 weeks so it's fine. Perry was close, but his antics are mostly saved for the ice, so he's not as bad

Avery was great. Never understood why people hated him so much. He was the exact type of prick that every team needs to win in the postseason. I loved watching his Instagram videos of him just screaming at people blocking the bike lanes in Manhattan.

Holy shit, Avs injuries are off the charts right now.  Missing 6 of their top 9 offensive players.  Nuke, Drouin, Lehki, Landy and now you can add Colton (on IR with a broken foot) and Wood to that list.

Tough break. Your team of AHLers would still beat the shit out of the B’s right now.

Doesn't help that they're playing Carolina tonight, who's just stupid fast and somehow got faster this off-season, but it feels like collectively that they've lost a couple steps.

Bruins are slow, can’t score consistently, passing is sloppy, not physical, weak defensively, and goaltending can’t pick up a shitty defense. The least they could do is drive someone through the boards and be mean as fuck. Serious changes are needed right fucking now.

Are they calling for Monty's head?

I saw a chart of the Avs 3 lines. Maybe it was 4. Oof. Sorry dude.

I still haven't figured out Winnipeg.

Looking forward to the Four Nations thing

I’m sure some people are. He’s not the issue imo. It starts with team leaders like Pastrnak, Marchand, and McAvoy. Those 3 have looked awful to start the year.

Not for nothing but surprisingly the B's are the 7th youngest team in the league - and a full year younger than the median team at 28. That means the team had played about 22 years less hockey as a group, than say the stars, who are right in the middle.

The young guys have played pretty decent. The issue with this team can be boiled down to one reality: our best line by far is the fourth line, they were leading the team in points and +/- well into the last few games. E Lindholm and Pastrnak have yet to gel offensively and both seem to have forgotten what a fucking backcheck is. Marchand is still clearly healing from his 3 offseason surgeries and looks slow as shit. Our top pair of McAvoy and Lohrei are a combined -6 through 11 games. Stats aside, just watching this team struggle to do simple shit like entering the zone on a PP or accurately passing the puck isn’t something Montgomery should have to teach a veteran lead team like the Bruins.

I may want to start betting on some of this shit (not really). Told my dad before the game it was going to be 4-2 Canes with Ovechkin putting one in, sure enough.

You can imagine I was hoping for a different outcome.  But, the Caps were no match for the Carolina speed and puck control.  It was like 6 on 5 … most of the game was played in the Caps end.

Caps have been impressing me so far this season TBH. So far it seems like this is the deepest team they've iced since 19, though we'll see how long the good version of PLD decides to keep coming to the rink.

These next two weeks will determine if Monty will be the head coach of the Bruins moving forward. We’ve six games, including two against an awful St Louis team. I think we need to walk away with at least 8 points during this stretch to maintain a playoff position by Thanksgiving. It’s fucking go time, B’s!

This is the first year I haven't put preseason money on the Jets to win the cup since they moved back to Winnipeg, so there is hope it can continue.

Y'all are kicking ass. Might get the second loss tonight though. I don't know what it is about Tamp but those fuckers won't go away.
