Vivid is showing a few decent tickets for just over $200. Not as bad as I would have expected. The drive might kind of suck but fuck it. Montreal is almost exactly 500KM (5.5 hrs) from my place.
Do it. Montreal is awesome and that game at Bell Center would be amazing.

Canada/Sweden game was electric. Hoping USA vs Finland can get close to matching the intensity of game 1. That was fucking awesome! International best on best is the shit dude.

Goddamn, hadn't even flipped back yet.

I was on my phone - hear the period start - hear them score - look up for a minute - look back at my phone - hear them score again.

Nah get rid of overtime. 3 on 3 is fun but it’s not nhl hockey and neither is a shootout.  2 pts for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss.  And you still get the late season teams push for the second point.

I like the full 3 points for a regulation win.  That would make for some interesting 3rd periods in a tie game towards the end of the season.

yeah, I've been on the 3-point train for a while

what? 3v3 overtime hockey is amazing. you are definitely in the minority on that one. they need to extend it to 10 minutes, though. and the every game should be worth 3 points. this manufactured points bullshit is dumb

It would be like basketball playing 3v3 in overtime.  I understand the rationale, but my preference would be to play 60 and stop like the euro soccer leagues do.

I can accept being in the minority on this.

what you want is untenable. the nhl schedule already grueling enough and having more rigorous overtime would water down the playoffs due to everyone being hurt or exhausted. the format is great as it is - make it a 3-point game and make OT 10 minutes and the regular season is perfect. everyone plays everyone at least twice. the schedule leans on the division format to cause competition within the divisions. it's the best it's ever been. at least maybe we can all agree ties were dumb.

I want no overtime of any sort until playoffs.

Maybe not

I don't expect regular season OT to have the intensity of the playoffs. It's not a sustainable model. Even in the playoffs after the 1OT it's a slog to get the last goal. They are so gassed by the end it's not likely to be a pretty goal.

I'm good with the status quo.

FIN/SWE going down to the wire. based on the h2h's so far, wonder how the US will fare tonight.

We’re going to kick their fucking ass. The Canadians will want to play with skill and pace, but I think the Americans will force them into a dump and chase game. I like our rats and I think they will be playing with a fuck you attitude. 3-2 US win in regulation.
