how many baby seals died to make PK Subban warm?

There is the First Nations shop in Montreal where they sell all the furs that they’re permitted to take by treaty. It’s just incredible. Even if you’re not into furs, it’s worth checking out just to see the wild selection.

Big dub for the red, white, and blue. Kinda crazy to shut down that forward corps the way they did. I like our chances the rest of the way.

How does the format work exactly? Is it a double round robin with the top points-getter winning?

The Canadian forward group isn’t that physical. That’s an advantage the US forwards have over them.

That's not a fair comparison. This is an international tournament. Basketball players bust their asses in the Olympics, too.

I don't want to get into a comparison of basketball and hockey too deeply. But, yeah it's not a level comparison. The hockey All Star game suffers from the same thing that he complains about.

I want no overtime of any sort until playoffs.

Maybe not

I've stewed on this for 24 hours and this dude just cannot abide this. I must know more. were you alive in the "tie" era? it fucking sucked. you could have an intense as fuck game and end up 3-3. like giving yourself blueballs. I simply cannot understand how someone would prefer that. anyway, again, I'm glad more don't agree with you. cheers!

Yes and there was even overtime then.   When there’s 80 games, some ties should be ok. So that would apply to most American pro sports outside of football and at least in the nfl who would really care if there were a few more ties than there currently are. Could encourage playing to win. But at least in football and basketball you play the same game, just a little longer.  NBA going to 3x3 and then a 5 shot horse competition wouldn’t be good either.

4-0 after 2

Canada-US in the final, barring a miracle in the 3rd.  Tonight's game is completely meaningless.  Just let BC and BU suit up and play tonight...

On that note, Otter on the crease tonight

The Stars' Finns sure made it interesting there at the end.

I love the complaining I'm hearing from folks bringing politics into the games.......yet, the Russians aren't playing. How do you have a tourney on this level and leave out some of the best players in the world?

And speaking of that, remember when the Russians were the bad guys? Yes, I'm old. Who knew the modern-day Summit Series would be between two, close allies.

Strange days......and they keep getting stranger.

because the russians can't quit cheating in international sports. it has nothing to do with politics, unless cheating is part of your politics

Cool. Thanks for the clarification.

"The NHL's decision to bar Russia from the midseason international action follows what the IIHF has done with both Russian and Belorussian national teams since 2022. Neither country has been allowed to participate in international events due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.2 days ago"

Maybe Russia will get it together. It would be fun in the future to have them in this round robin. USSR vs USA? You serious Clark?

It's hard to believe there are currently only 66 Russian players in the show. Gives you an idea the impact the KHL is having.

I've been to a couple of KHL games and it's good hockey. Great crowd experience if you hit the European teams.

Russian skill and style, unless incredibly high end (Kucherov, Kaprizov, etc.), doesn’t always translate to the North American game. Plus, these guys tend to be a bit of a wildcard as far as their behavior. Some teams are wary of drafting Russians for those reasons. The Russians also get homesick in North America so many will happy cash a KHL check if it means they get to play in Russia.

Holy shit if true. Aren’t there about a thousand total players? So 7%. How times have changed.

McAvoy out with an infection. US is banged up going into Thursday. Next man up mentality. Sounds like Quinn Hughes is heading to Boston as a reserve but can’t practice with the team.
