Georgia is more talented. Their DL is more stout up front, but I agree. OU is a pretty cohesive unit. I would bet Sark comes out using shifts and motions consistently to test Georgia’s eye discipline. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a RB with a big game catching the ball with Mondon out at ILB. From my limited viewing the other LBs struggle in coverage. More empty looks, which Georgia has struggled against and perhaps the only thing Quinn looked completely in control of during RRS. That could simply be motioning Blue/Wisner out of the backfield

Georgia's defense is not great by any stretch. Overall as a unit they're middle of the pack. Their secondary is one or the worst in the country. Their defense has exactly 2 sacks in like 5 games.

Go watch Texas Homer on YouTube and see his breakdown.

I have seen plenty on Georgia. They are still 9th in DFEI, that isn’t middle of the pack.  They are a very talented defense. Mondon being out is a blow to them. That guy is legit. Sounds like Mykelle is back (projected 1st round Edge player). They are more talented than OU. They are not as well coordinated. They haven’t played with the same discipline, that is where I believe Sark will attack. Texas can score on them, if Ewers rebounds, but don’t underestimate them. This isn’t Georgia 3-4 years ago (missing some of those 1st round playmakers),  but they are not mediocre

Maybe mid is a bit too harsh, but you're right, they aren't great like 2-3 years ago. Their secondary is beyond ass, and they're missing their best LB, their edges have 1-2 sacks in 5 games, and something like 3 all season thus far. Their edges are straight up trash. Interior they're much better, but our o-line is better than their defense. They really haven't played anyone worth a shit other than Alabama, and the others they've played have been meh. Much like Texas' secondary, they're going to be tested. Their run defense is good , this interior is good, and they can get to the ball, but again, they haven't exactly played anyone with any real statistics, much like Texas. Comparing Miss St games, we clearly dominated them, while UGA was struggling. Regardless, I think they're defense will get exposed on Saturday. Should be fun.

GA has what, 8 straight top 3 recruiting classes? Talent isn’t the problem. They are undiscliplined and high on their own past success which shows in their off field issues and their coaching issues. They also have a Beck problem where he keeps putting the D in bad positions. Anyone looking at the MS St game score as some sort of reason for thinking TX will roll didn’t watch the game. Beck gave away field position on their first possession and then gave them 7 more points off a score with his INT in the 3rd. It wasn’t near as close as the final scoreboard. His play in the AL game was similar.

If Beck shows up and doesn’t turn the ball over, this will be a game. If he does what he’s been doing lately and starts slow or throws INT’s then TX could roll. There was a lot of concern in the fans this past weekend at the tailgates/games. The fan base isn’t that confident in the game this weekend or their overall chances this year, but most of that is centered around Beck and Kirby. There is a significant level of dislike for Kirby within the fan base.

I’ll accept an S-E-C chant in the 4th when we’re up 3 scores.

otherwise, I hate anytime our fans chant that.

from here on out and as long as we are in this league, forever more there will be one and 1 only acceptable circumstance for our fanbase to cheer secX3

garbage time against aggy at pyle

and this year we have that opportunity

otherwise maybe in a hoop64 game within various scenarios

There’s nothing wrong with the S-E-C chant if the time is right.  I can’t claim to be one that started it but I believe I was there when it was born.  It grew out of being force fed Miami’s bullshit hype for a few years and the whole Geno Torreta Heisman bandwagon in 1992.  Seems like there were about seven or eight minutes left in the Sugar Bowl and Bama fans were starting to realize it was going to happen.  Not only were we winning the title but we had pantsed the invincible Caines in the process.  We received literally one (1) vote in the AP poll all year, up to and including that week.  An Arizona writer in Tucson I think named Corky Frost started voting us #1 in October and continued it every week right through to the final poll, when it was unanimous.  He was invited to be grand marshal of the parade.  The chant started up in some remote psrt of the Superdome and it jusr caught on and kept building until it was a stomping, standing, yelling Victorygasm.  It didn’t hurt that Miami and Ericson had whipped our asses three years before and we were reminded of it constantly in the runup to the 92 game.  Sports Illustrated was the worst front runner Caines suck off douche.  I believe the chant has a time and a place.  That year, it fit.  This year, assuming you don’t trip on your foreskins in Nashville or aggyland, when Texas deflowers some unlucky team in the Mercedes Dome in Atlanta, it would be apropos as well to haul out the chant.  Year One SEC Champs - check

Yall are insane. There will be nothing easy about beating a squad like Georgia. They spotted Alabama 28 points and still took the go ahead lead in the 4th on the road. I may be wrong, but I’m preparing for a heavy weight matchup.

Alabama kinda seems like ass this year.  Just my .02 cents.

If Ewers comes out and plays well, we win this going away.  If he comes out like he did last week against OU, we're gonna be in a dogfight (no pun intended).

Yesterday:  According to Draft Kings Sportsbook, the Bulldogs are now 5-point underdogs to the Longhorns following their win over Mississippi State and Texas' win over Oklahoma. The line initially opened with Texas being a 2.5-point favorite. The over/under for this matchup is presently set at 55.5 points.

Rece Davis picking "poor jawja" to win... (10:56 mark)

Absolutely fucking not. Saying it ironically to make fun of this conference is fine. Saying after Texas accomplishes something? Ha Ha Ha. We'll celebrate ourselves, not a bunch of hangers on, thank you very much.

Even leaving aside the use of “squad,” the fact that they could get down by 28 to a team with less on offense than Texas has isn’t as strong a selling point as some might think.

It won’t be easy. Texas will have to execute and protect the ball.

Georgia’s secondary looks vulnerable. If they get down and have to pass, it’s much more likely, imo, that Beck gets lit up than Beck leads a comeback.

I guess we’ll see.

I want to add on to this a little bit.

First of all, Alabama is our bitch. The only time you've ever beaten us - the only time you'd ever be able to beat us - is by knocking out our starting quarterback. Scoreboard still counts, but we've always had the better teams. We own you, and that's the way it's always going to be. Two of your best coaches had Aggie running through their veins. Bear Bryant never could beat Darrell Royal. He also was a pissant for not figuring out a way to play Ken Hall. There. I said it. I'll never forgive him for that.

He also had his greatest successes as a coach copying UT's offensive scheme.

You guys are the poster children for made up national titles. You and your sisters in College Station have a patent on it. If it's not AP or coach's poll, they don't fucking count. It's not that difficult.

Gene Stallings has so much Texas envy all the fiber and laxatives in the world won't ever enable him to shit it all out. Fuck the 92 championship season and that boring ass offense. OMG I wanted to stab myself with a fork watching those Crimson Tide teams. Jay Barker was the Trent Dilfer of college quarterbacks.

Bragging about conference pride is a loser mentality. Let you lesser mouth breathing fan bases soak all that shit in. A&M has been sucking collective Alabama, Georgia, and LSU cock since they entered the conference. As usual, their greatest games are the ones they "almost" won. Or the ones where they happened to beat a great team but then didn't capitalize on it. They have been so proud watching other teams carry their water. Fuck. That.

Hey, good for you for beating that Miami team and starting the stupidest chant in college sports. What a thing to be proud of. I'm glad I now have a rumor of how it was born. What's going to be way better is when the Horns Down becomes the unofficial hand signal of the SEC. It's already almost there. We'll see Alabama fans soon throwing them down when Texas isn't even playing, the same way everyone else loves to. And I'm going to enjoy soaking it in. You and Auburn can scream SEC at each other while paying University of Texas licensing fees for the upside down Longhorn decals pasted on the wrecks you keep in your front lawn.

This is some weak ass Aggie sauce, they don’t give out trophies for hypothetical victories, injuries are part of the game and Texas lost a national title and at home to Bama. We don’t own Bama, and if your trying to use example from 50+ years ago when those coaches are dead and the players in nursing homes to support your argument, that’s a living in the past and a loser mentality in itself. Our goal going forward should be to build Texas into a juggernaut to kill other programs, but let’s not lie to ourselves about what Saban and Bama were. Because here’s the truth, in his run Saban and Bama racked up more hardware than the Texas football program has in its entire history, our goal should be to get to the level dominance that they have enjoyed for the last 15 years.

Hey, scream SEC to your heart's content. I'm not stopping you. I'm glad you're proud of your new Alabama overlord and their greatness under Saban.

Oh, and Saban comes to Texas if Mack Brown and Deloss Dodds don't sabotage the move. So stick that in your analingus elephant worship.

And yeah, what happened 50 years ago means a great deal to me. Stopping Joe Namath at the goal line means a great deal to me. Losing to Georgia in the Cotton Bowl means a great deal to me. And beating these bourbon soaked Deliverance banjo playing cultists is going to give me a great deal of pleasure.

They call it DKR stadium for a reason. Maybe you should look him up sometime.

I really hope the younger generations of Texas fans understand this, but they don't even know to keep their hand still until the last few beats of The Eyes.

The only time I ever want to hear "S-E-C, S-E-C" in DKR is mockingly after we beat an SEC blueblood by 14+.  Tomorrow seems like as good a time as any.

But I have a feeling we'll be shaking our heads as our fanbase gets as caught up in that weird "I have 16 favorite teams, lulz" bullshit as all the others.

To recap the last six pages:

- Texas is elite, but has SERIOUS concerns at QB… while also having no concerns at QB

- Georgia is elite but their secondary is questionable and the QB struggles with accuracy and not scoring TDs. Also, he’s not bringing his dog to watch the game as UGA wants to hang with some coeds at Barton Springs then head to the F1 parties early. Classic UGA.

The S-E-C chant should be relegated to the identity politics of the conference’s coat tail programs that want to live vicariously through the conference’s “real” powers.  It should never be chanted at Texas, Bama, Georgia, LSU (and maybe Florida one day when they figure their shit out).  It should be a chant for the “never-wills” in College Station, Nashville, Columbia, etc

That is being a college football fan. Was I around 100 years ago? No. But I am eager to even the score against Vanderbilt after they whipped our ass at the State Fair all that time ago, before that game became against Oklahoma in 1929. OU sucking so bad that year that it caused the Great Depression in a little known fact.

I was at that game, and I don't remember there being SEC chants at all.  Now, I'm not saying it didn't happen, as it was a long time ago and I was plenty drunk that night - but the whole atmosphere in the Superdome and way the game unfolded remains crystal clear in my mind (and make no mistake, it was glorious!).  I remember the "Geeeeee-nooooo" chants building steam and taking over the crowd as the game went on and Toretta bumbled and crumbled under the Bama D.  And by the end of the game the dome echoed in Roll Tide chants.  Besides being there and not remembering SEC chants, it also would have made no sense.  Miami was in the freaking Big East!  Nobody was talking up the strength of the Big East - it was all about Miami's historic rise and dominance in spite of their weak ass conference, not because of it.  The game wasn't billed as a chance for the SEC to prove they could hang with the Big East, haha!  Bama was Bama.  They transcended their conference - even after falling off the map for awhile, they were still a legendary program, and those were the days way before conference pride became a thing.

Quote from this Athletic scouting article stood out to me:

Spoiler

“They’ve had a lot more MAs (missed assignments) than a typical Georgia-coached team,” the scouting director said. “It feels like bad eyes, impatience. … That’s not a skill issue; that’s a learning or coaching issue.”

If they can't get that cleaned up in a week it plays right into Sark's strength as a playcaller. Once he gets you looking at what he wants you to look at instead of what you're supposed to be looking at, you're fucked.
