You dont have to believe me but think of the context. Its 27-3 with under 6 minutes to play. There is no chance for an OU win. The game is over. This is when most coaches would look to protect their QB before a top 5 match-up. Sark calls Quinn's number on the goal line. Play he very rarely calls. It was either an incredibly stupid thing to do or he had a specific reason. Perhaps I am giving sark too much credit, but think it was brilliant

Sark said something about himself as an injured player at BYU in either post game or Monday press conference that made the thought cross my mind. I didn’t have the thought during the game though.

Playing through your starting QB having a rough start against a top tier defense after missing a month when your opponent has absolute shit for offense is a blind spot?  JFC

Yeah I don't think it's a blind spot.  I think it's intentional as hell.  "Play through it, I know what you can do."

That doesn't mean that it's a good thing, necessarily, but intentional.

Quinn threw for 318 yards and ran for 54 yards against Washington. With no interceptions.

Quinn wasn't spectacular but definitely good enough to win that game. It's not his fault our secondary couldn't cover anyone or that other players fumbled the ball twice.

It's also not his fault that Brooks was hurt. I'll go to my grave thinking that we'd have won if Brooks' season hadn't come to an early end

#1 defense in the country.  Feeling pretty good about that side of the ball.  UGA will score some, but I don't see it being a shootout.

Definitely could use Bond, but he's listed as Questionable.  Thanks, Ewers, for being a vag, playing scared, and throwing your WR1 into an injury.

UGA probably wasn't going to let us take the top off anyway and Ewers can't throw a deep ball for shit, but Bond's speed would have been nice on the edges.

I think we're good if we just play fundamentally sound football.  Don't need heroics, just the absence of turnovers and bullshit.

He was already hurt before that, had nothing to do with how bad Quinn threw the ball

While brilliant not sure that one is getting through standards and practices.

Back in the day, Cleve Bryant took away my “questionable” Gameday signs. I’m not sure Sarkisian has anyone quite that grabby on staff.

He had 4 chances to throw a TD from 12 yards out. He didn't throw a single catchable pass. Can you imagine VY in that situation not scoring? He played well enough all game to win but the elite QBs win at the crunch time.

Difficult to do when your receivers are being mugged, and pulled.  IIRC the game ended on a no-call DPI going over the receiver.

The defense was the main reason why that game was lost.

LISTEN HERE, FUCKERS.  We have the ability to walk Hill down with Simmons into a bear front.  And, if that ain’t enough we have the fuckin’ NASCAR package with 5 rushers on the field on 3rd and long.  Who the fuck you think we’re dealing with?  A fucking novice!?

”Maybe we beat them by 21.”

”It don’t make a shit!”

”Yep, we gon’ run it.”

”GEORGIA CAN SUCK MY DICK!”

I'm bullish on the team and the game.  This is what you'd call a context clue.

Your post reeked of vaginitis, directly ripping the starting QB and talking shit that doesn’t apply.

CONTEXT fuckboi

Ewers played scared in the first half.  He wouldn't step into anything and he was obviously worried about contact.  It happened and he's not exempt from the truth.

High performers don't worry about criticism.  They address it, fix it, and move on.  I'm guessing you wouldn't understand.  You seem like the type who'd wet your pants, act passive-aggressive, and then be summarily dismissed/ignored.

You popped off about bonds injury without even knowing that he was essentially good to go all week, so clearly you are not fully informed.  The implication Ewers was the cause of Bonds injury proves further your lack of mental acuity and basic reasoning skills.

But it’s all good man. There’s lots of water headed mongoloids out there enjoying life and watching the pretty footy ball pictures on the tv. Lots of em post here!  And we will take all the fans we can get buddy.

I made a throwaway thread for you fucking dolts to bitch about Quinn and yet every page on the game thread we get someone new pissing their pants worrying about how Quinn - who has a career high passer rating so far this season - is going to play at home against a team we are better than.

There are valid considerations or things Texas needs to watch out for this week but worrying about Quinn shouldn't be in anyone's top 10. No one outside of our own idiot fans and delusional UGA fans would take Beck over Ewers the rest of the way this season.

This thread reads like the offseason and we’re less than 24 hours until the game starts. Pull it together people. There’s gonna be mass panic when Quinn throws his first incomplete pass and St Davids can only handle a few stroke patients at a time.

What's going to be wild is if Georgia scores a TD on their first possession.  I'm trying to prepare myself just in case, because it's just not something we've seen so far this year.

You and a few others seem to be super quick on the trigger to get all spun up and talk shit to people, saying things you'd never say in person.  All the "pussies", "retards", "fuckbois", "you fucking dolts", etc. aren't really needed and nobody takes people who act like that very seriously.  We're just talking football.

I don't recall worrying about how Ewers was going to play.  I said he doesn't throw a good deep ball, but UGA probably wasn't going to give us that anyway.  Ewers doesn't throw a great deep ball.  That's not news.

Yep.  Probably not getting a lot of chances deep, hence the need for what Bond provides on the perimeter.

Point out where I mentioned Beck, much less that I'd take him over Ewers.  I'm a big fan of Ewers and he's our QB1, period.  Not Arch, not anyone else's QB, just Ewers.  Sark was right to leave him in and force him to work through the rusty start against OU, and I'm glad he did.  That doesn't change the fact that he played like shit for 1.5 quarters and put Bond in some bad spots on a bad ankle (the under thrown ball where he awkwardly tried to get back to it and the high/behind overthrow that he had to get acrobatic on and wound up leaving the game after).  Saying it isn't some kind of sin.

Football opinions, all of which would be said in any forum or any context...unlike all the internet tough guy shit.

First of all your reading comprehension sucks, second of all anyone that talks that much about Quinn saying some dumb shit like he's being a vag and getting our receivers injured is getting a fucking earful from me in person. Any one of the folks here who have met me would likely 2nd that.

In fact, I'm liable to land myself in trouble by saying too much in person.

So,

1. You don't know me

2. Your "I'd beat your ass in person" shtick is fucking lame

3. You doubling back trying to act like you didn't say QB1 was being a vag and playing scared is fucking pathetic. We all have the receipts right here, fucko.

You say obviously but it is more likely that he was not up to game speed, given his absence from the game, and needed time to catch up.

It seems like quite a bit of projection on your part.

What actions were you seeing that made this observation so obvious?

OU’s defense is strong and played great until the TOs started.  Tough situation for Quinn to come back but exactly what he needed.  The O has been tested against real defenses.  The biggest question is how the secondary holds up given that they have not been tested by real quality.  That said, we have the ability to bring pressure with relatively limited numbers and the advanced stats support the significant improvement in the pass D.

Quinn knows what is at stake in this game both personally and for the team and I expect that he will play well.

In any event, what an amazing opportunity for the Texas program and we should enjoy every minute of what appear to be halcyon days.

Was the playoff game against Washington not a big game? How many chances did he have to get us the W in the end? Yes, Quinn has played well in most big games but it's not a guarantee. Let's see which Quinn shows up tomorrow.

He was a soph last year, and he still got us a  XII championship and a CFP berth.. He didn't make the last 4 count,  but he helped bring us back. If you want to blame anyone, blame the secondary

Quinn had 318 yards 1 TD, zero INTs. Murphy, Baxter, and Blue got 3 the other 3, and if those two hadn't fumbled we would have had the lead. That's not on Quinn, that's on Baxter and Blue.

He also went against a 6th year senior who carved up our secondary, but their interior was weak, which is why Baxter has 7.1 ypc, and Blue 6.6 ypc. Quinn did everything he could until the end when he missed those last passes. That's it. End of the Quinn is the reason we lost because he had a bad game.

No he didn't. Look up the stars before spouting off nonsense.

@Hondo I just want to assure you that I’d definitely call you a pussy retard to your face if you were indeed spouting the defeatist bullshit you’ve posted so far.

Thank you for the assurance.  I doubt we'll ever know, so I'll take your word for it.

As for the "defeatist bullshit (I've) posted", which part would that be?

"We could use Bond's speed"

"I feel pretty good about the defense"

"Ewers doesn't throw a good deep ball, but UGA probably wasn't going to give us many chances deep anyway"

"I think we're good if we play solid fundamental football"

"We don't need heroics; the absence of turnovers/bullshit is probably enough"

One of those, or something else?  Perhaps my comment that Ewers played like shit for most of the 1st half against OU?
