I had never seen this story on that game before. Holy crap, even Teaff admits it.

https://baylorbears.com/news/2017/10/27/baylor_flashback_nov_21_1992.aspx

I was at the game and sitting about 5 rows up near midfield among Baylor players' families. It was right in front of what I now recall was ruled as a non-recovery of a fumble that was clearly still inbounds. What that play was is a little fuzzy, but what's not is the very clear memory of call after call after call that went against us, including the spotting of the ball on Brown's run.

That call was way, way worse than the BS on Saturday. Was a pass to a Baylor WR who caught the ball, took one step, got popped by our DB; ball came out and we fell on it. Either incomplete or fumble, right? Wrong - after a 5-minute conference they called completed catch, forward progress stopped (the motherfucker dropped the ball as soon as we made contact), first down Baylor. They went on to score what I think was the winning TD…

Lulz... a 10-page report with only 1 paragraph about the investigation... CDC told the conference to fuck off:

Most university administrators can't even send an email that's under 10 pages.

There's a lot of criticisms you might be able to levy against CDC. I believe @closetojumping knows quite a bevy he could levy.

But you cant say he's a snitch.

Good on our athletic department. Justice was served.

I wanted the report to say that we discussed the situation with every student at the game, personally, and similar to Coach Kirby Smart, no one could remember doing anything.

Yup.

And I was hoping CDC would also attach a check for a full million dollars with a note that says, "This should cover the next 3 times our fans are forced to correct your shitty refs."

After reading the CDC response - Fuck you Kirby Smart.  You gaping vagina.  CDC needs to talk to the conference about how that fucker is constantly littering the field with his fat ass presence on it.

If the SEC were genuinely concerned about good sportsmanship and the safety of opposing team's players on the sidelines, they'd have fined and suspended Kirby Smart.  But they aren't, and they didn't.

The response was perfect.  But I'm sort of itching for them to come back and give CDC a hard time, because the SEC's indefensible lack of action regarding Kirby Smart's sideline assault deserves to be aired even more publicly.

What's great about aggy is that they never change their tune even when they aren't 7 days removed from getting fucking curb-stomped in their own shitty stadium by Texas.

You'd think they'd shut the fuck up for a couple weeks but nope it's right back to the jizz-jar factory with these dorks.

They don’t. I think they misheard Jim Valvano’s famous line as “Never shut up. Never, EVER shut up.”

Lulz... a 10-page report with only 1 paragraph about the investigation... CDC told the conference to fuck off:
Quote
AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas investigation into the bottle-throwing incident that disrupted the Texas-Georgia game in October -- and drew a harsh rebuke and fine from the SEC -- resulted in no one being caught or punished.
In a report to the conference sent last month, Texas officials said a video review did not identify any of the culprits.

Texas and Georgia meet again Saturday in the SEC championship game in Atlanta. Their first meeting in Austin, a 30-15 Georgia win, produced one of the most chaotic and controversial scenes of the college football season. Longhorns fans upset about a pass interference penalty pelted the field with debris and briefly stopped the game, giving the officials time to huddle and reverse the call.

The incident drew a $250,000 fine from the SEC, which also threatened to ban alcohol sales at future games. The SEC ordered the school to find those responsible and ban them from all athletic events for the rest of the school year.
In a Nov. 7 report to SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte said the school "reviewed all available video and other sources of information" to try to find the disruptive fans.
"Despite our best effort, we have not been able to identify the individuals at issue. We will take action if new identifying information comes to light," Del Conte wrote.
The school's report was provided to The Associated Press this week. A university spokesman said he was unaware of any new information or punishments since it was sent to the SEC. Del Conte did not respond to a text message seeking comment.
Del Conte told the SEC that Texas has added additional security cameras and personnel to watch the student section, updated its sportsmanship and fan code of conduct policies and created digital messaging to encourage good behavior.
"Respect, sportsmanship and fairness are values that drive us," Del Conte wrote. "We expect fans to uphold these standards as well."
The SEC did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment.
Then-No. 1 Texas trailed No. 5 Georgia 23-7 when a pass interference call negated a Longhorns interception. Angry fans in or near the student section lobbed bottles and debris on the field, and the game was halted for several minutes.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian, who at first was angry about the penalty, crossed the field to plead with the fans to stop throwing things while stadium crews cleaned up the mess.
The break gave the game officials time to reconsider and reverse the penalty, a decision that infuriated Georgia coach Kirby Smart. Texas cut the Georgia lead to 23-15 before the Bulldogs later put together the game-clinching drive.
"I will say that now we've set a precedent that if you throw a bunch of stuff on the field and endanger athletes that you've got a chance to get your call reversed," Smart said after the game "That's unfortunate because to me that's dangerous."
The SEC issued a statement that reversing the penalty was the correct decision but condemned the bottle throwing. The conference also ordered Texas to investigate using "all available resources, including security, stadium and television video, to identify individuals who threw objects onto the playing field or at the opposing team." It told the school to report its findings to the league.
Texas president Jay Hartzell warned students that the investigation was coming. He said the incident had "embarrassed Longhorn Nation" and agreed with the SEC's demands to find those responsible.
Texas' 10-page report included a review of stadium policies and the administration's statements to students. It includes only a single paragraph about the investigation efforts, which were led by Derek Trabon, director of the campus Office of Emergency Management. The investigation included help from game operations staff and campus police.
The report offers no investigation details, such as how much video was reviewed, whether cameras actually caught fans throwing things or if the school considered using facial recognition technology. The brief mention of the investigation does not explain why it was inconclusive.
"We take full accountability for the actions of our fans and reiterate our apology to the University of Georgia and the SEC," Del Conte wrote.

So Aggy doesn’t allow you to keep caps to any beverage.

I didn’t determine if they’ve always done this, afraid of their fans throwing shit (certainly not upstanding aggy fans) or if it started after the Texas/UGA game… but I was bewildered grabbing a water from one of their “grab and go” markets and seeing two dudes at the exit holding trash bags telling me to drop the cap…

I overheard some aggy behind me talking about bringing his own caps, I shit you not.

It seems strangely fitting to me that The Tacklebox is the only stadium in America that has created a black market for plastic bottle caps.

“Psssst. Howdy. Over here… Hey, pisshead zip, I’ll sell you a sixer of Aquafina caps if you’ll just whip out and let me saw Varsity’s horns off…if you know what i mean. And I think you do. I was on the national championship meat judging team of ‘04. I know my meat, so let me see yours.”

That was the worst call in the history organized football, and the hole in the wall of my apartment in San Antonio in the shape of a barstool seat proves it.

The only big one I recall was his set of choices when Meyer said no. Sonny Dykes being the big one.

I wasn’t a big fan of seeing the basketball program getting boxed into the Terry hiring but I’m not sure how it could have really been handled differently. I also don’t think I voiced much on that one.

I wish he’d fire Kelly, but I get why he hasn’t.

Those are nits being picked.

I’ve dealt with the guy on multiple occasions since the Meyer effort. I’d take him over every other choice across the landscape at this point. Hope he’s running things for 20+ more years, personally.

Sometimes @Rimbo and anyone else here can put words in my mouth. I don’t think I’ve given CDC much criticism in years.
