Crybaby snowflake is a bit of a leap, but I would be more than happy to have a beer and converse over our opinions. That is the kind of shit America was built for.

If that is really you I am glad.

But man I used to do this all the time and back in the past I could have discussions with conservatives that kind of went somewhere, we could come to some kind of agreement on things. That is not to say I never got screamed at and called names and shit, back in the 1990s I used to regularly have people lose their shit on me not because I liked Bill Clinton, I didn't and never voted for him, but because I was insufficiently opposed to him. Crazy.

Then eventually it reached a point where I could almost reach a point where me and some conservative could admit we agreed basically on some idea but then at the last second they would pull back and inform me that we could never agree and fuck me and blah blah.

And now, shit, somebody will say something about a topic and I might come in with "actually I have a different viewpoint on that topic, I think that..." and then the very next thing they do is insist I am a liar or evil or whatever. So it breaks down almost immediately.

I don't know man. I don't really want to do it anymore. I am tired after decades of discussions that often had productive starts that ultimately went nowhere and I am tired of being respectful and trying to come up with decent points only for it to break down into personal attacks. Just tired of it.

But you are out there having productive discussions with us lefties and calmly sharing ideas, that's great. More power to you.

This is the difference between having conversations and “conversing” on the internet.  Much more difficult to call someone a Nazi or fascist to their face, when your chiclets may get knocked out for it.

For both sides, it seems that the polarization has gotten...well really bad. Identity politics imo has a lot to do with it. Somewhere along the way how you voted became your identity and EVERYTHING you stood for. Throw in social media and everyone is an expert and it constantly dominates our news feeds.

There are people out there you can have a discussion with. Then there are the people out there that arent educated and just scream out shit like "Nazi" as pointed out above. You cant have an honest discussion with that person. There are people on the right that are the same way.

Same goes for the right, way easier to drop an N bomb or whatever slur when youre not looking them in the face.

If you think this somehow supports your assertion that thousands of illegals are voting illegally, you are dumber than I thought. And I think you are really really really dumb, in case I haven’t made that clear

Just like Trump isnt going to win right? There is no plausible way, correct?

I’m sorry for the personal attacks. I know the posts  are still there bc they are quoted but I deleted the originals

If you have any empiric evidence to share that illegal immigrants have cast votes in substantial numbers please post a link.

And I haven’t seen anyone here say Trump can’t win. I certainly haven’t.

I do find it interesting that most of the documented election fraud since 2016 has been committed by Trump supporters. Just some food for thought for you

That is because their idea of their self is tied with a political party and not with policy.  Policy is what we argue so we sound smart and logical, but political party is where we land because of our identity and social status is tied to it.

This is one of my favorite pieces of bullshit the morons spout. Tolerance is not an ethic. It is a compact. Once you opt out of it, you no longer have the right to invoke it or expect it.
Demonize all people with last names like mine as rapists, criminals, and vermin, and want to end our citizenship? Fuck you. You get zero acceptance or tolerance, because you don’t practice it.

Damn.Thats good!

I’m glad you are talking about the kind of shit America was built for. Let’s start with democracy and the peaceful transfer of power. 1/6 is disqualifying by itself, which is to say nothing of Trump’s moral failings, his lack of any character, and multiple failed businesses. And I have even mentioned the crimes yet. There has never been someone less qualified to be the president than Trump. That was true in 2016 and is only more true now having seen him in the role.

Now let’s talk policy. Trump had no real policy. Sure he will spout off some bullshit that makes insecure Americans feel better about themselves while demonizing immigrants but he’s not trying to solve shit. See the border bill he tanked.  He will say stupid shit like the solution to grocery prices is to drill baby drill, totally glossing over the fact that the US is producing more oil than ever. His latest student body president idea is to totally get rid of income taxes in favor of tariffs.

Next, domestic policy. There has never been so much division and discord sewn from the Oval Office as this guy. Hell he gassed peaceful protestors so he could take a picture in front of a church holding a bible. Don’t even get me started on that hypocrisy. His affinity for white supremacists is un-questioned. Stand back and stand by. He bragged to the NRA about not doing anything after school shootings and tells us we just have to live with it. His handling of COVID was terrible and led to unnecessary deaths.

Next up, foreign policy. He literally salutes North Korea. He’s Putin’s bitch. He will absolutely sellout our allies just to get some compliments from these people. He has no interest or ability to strengthen America’s relationship with those countries that deserve and need our alliance. Contrary to what his supports say about “strength” he was literally the laughing stock amongst other democratic world leaders as well as likely the authoritarians and dictators whom know he can be manipulated easier than a child.

Finally let’s talk about the people he surrounds himself with. Mattis, Kelly etc… have all sounded the alarm on this dude and yet we are supposed to believe him over people who have spent a lifetime in honorable service to our country. Notice that it’s always everyone else’s fault with Trump. He is the common fucking denominator here man. And the thing is, during his next term those guardrails are gone. Replaced by Stephen Miller and Laura Loomer, while being emboldened by an out of control SCOTUS that has given him unchecked power.

These are just my cliff notes working from memory. I’m sure there is more as we have all forgotten just how bad it was when he was in office.

Hey @HellesBier I see you running your mouth over on the other thread about how cool Trump is and posting wrestling clips. Just making sure you didn’t miss this since you are super quiet over here.

Voted in Astoria (more in depth post on the other thread). Still though, got my vote in for Kamala, AOC, and against all 5 Adam’s backed props on the nyc ballot. Good day for democracy over here.

edit: forgot to add that I got my gf’s sister, her hubby, and the gf to vote today too. Made a morning of it and went to get breakfast at a hole in the wall diner by the voting place. Good day considering the breakfast spot got “approved” for future visits by the sister and gf despite them being creatures of habit (they’ve gone to the same restaurants their parents liked for 50 years cause.. “why not go where you know?” Was the response I got when suggesting news places in new. york. Fucking city). So got to tell don old to fuck off, ate good grub, horns won despite trying to lose. Good day, all things considered; gonna just take the w where I can find it going forward

Ok, my niece gets the gold medal. She’s currently studying in Florida, but Texas is still her permanent residence.
She realized that she cut it too close in the deadline for an absentee ballot.
So, she’s sitting next to me right now watching the game…because she flew in this weekend JUST TO VOTE. She landed this afternoon, voted, will spend the night with us, then fly back to school in the morning. She said she has the most expensive sticker of her life (her “I voted” sticker), but she just couldn’t in good conscience fail to vote.

My best friend’s kid flew AUS/DFW/AUS on the same day to do exactly that.

I voted today at the Austin ISD Anita Ferrales Coy facility after posting here that it was the least used site in Travis Co.  The school district is going to tear it down sometime in the future to build affordable housing, hopefully for teachers and staff.

Sure enough, no line and I saw four other people voting when I was there.

Wife and I voted this morning in Flower Mound. Straight ticket Dem. Hopefully one day I can go back to putting thought into who Im voting for but that day is not today. No line. If Im prejudging people Id say 3 out of the 4 poll workers were Dems and the 4 people who came in to vote along with my wife and I were also Dems. No crazies outside or in.

The only vote I made that I wasn't eager for was Sheriff. The incumbent is generally an R kind of guy, but not over the top MAGA (the Sheriff position is non partisan theoretically). The challenger was an absolute lunatic who was arrested protesting outside the courthouse and lied about being deputized.

I voted by mail 2+ weeks ago.  Wish I could turn all the campaign commercials off.  I am not the target audience.

Even my most extreme friends agree we need better options to vote for.  We disagree on which option is less bad, and we have been able to remain civil.  Maybe you guys need to get better friends?

Local bar is having an election night watch party.  Not sure I’d recommend that.
