Massive fire in Dallas tonight

Recommended Posts

Pallets are basically designed to make incredible fires. All the air flow makes for insanely aggressive and hot flames. Been to bonfires built with scrap pallets and it's crazy how far away you can be and still feel like it's burning your face off.

Yeah, but giant logs are capable of killing and maiming more people.  - aggy

Hope that is not where Goff Burger was. I remember it was in that area.

I don’t think there was ever a Goff Burger over there.

Friend of mine’s business is right nearby there. Or I should say probably WAS right nearby. Haven’t had a chance to talk to him to see if it survived.

That tornado that went through Dallas in Oct 2019, weren't there a bunch of homes in the path of that tornado right there?

No, that was closer to 75 and Mockingbird towards 635, I think. That one wiped out m wife's work at 75 and 635. They started work from home and almost had it rebuild and then covid happened and they said fuck it. Lets just do work at home and not pay for offices.

The first Goff’s Burger that I was aware of — and I moved to Dallas in 1998 — was at Lovers/Douglas right by HP High School. That’s where the Lenin statue was. Then Goff’s moved by SMU and burned and is now near SMU. There was one up Preston or Greenville but I think it closed. Harvey was a prick and I never went. AFAIK, they’re still doing two-for-one burgers on Tuesdays.

The tornado started just north of Love Field (basically Walnut Hill-ish), about a mile or so from my house and blasted due East/NE for about 30 mins. It tore through some of the wealthiest homes in the entire state and crossed Central/75 at Forest. It passed over St. Mark’s on the way. Some big homes got hella fucked up.

He was in SF with my dad a long time ago. Knew him from that and from the shit he did flying meals to remote places for troops. What earned him dick title? Serious, did not know that. Was a damn good burger.

Never heard that side of him. All I knew was the shiftiness to customers — maybe it was an act like GM Steakhouse. I dunno. Food wasn’t good enough to bother with that IMO.
