Literally the entire baseball world knew the Yankees were not interested in Bergman except the Astros. It was purely to hike up his price when they re-sign him

From a fucking pirates fan is pretty rich. I’m sad to say I used to frequent r/baseball. It’s nothing but a bunch of virgin edgelords that don’t know the game now.

Outfield prospect and a #37 overall pick coming back

I’m so glad y’all are able to add some young players to such a talent deficient team. Really scrapped and clawed your way out of mediocrity to get that World Series. One can only imagine what the Dodgers might look like if they ever get some elite players on the roster.

The Dodgers are doing more than just buying a roster.  They are structuring an organization for extended success.  Heavy focus on farm development along with acquiring top level talent.  And creating a place where players want to come.  Plenty of teams have the money to just buy it.  The Dodgers are very calculated.

Is Nick Pivetta fucked?  Dude should probably have taken the QO of 21.5M or whatever.  I would think no team is going to pay him more than that on a per year basis, and I get while he wants a longer term contract I would also think no team wants to give up drat pick + international pool $$ or whatever to sign this dude.

He is either going to make waaaay less per year than he wanted, or not get signed unless some starter gets hurt during Spring Training?

If a team waits until after the draft to sign him I guess the draft pick compensation part goes away?

Could the Red Sox sign him still to a 1 year deal for like 10M now and lowball the fuck out of him?

Seems like the dumbest decision of the offseason so far was to turn down the QO

The Padres are going to add a couple of former big leaguers to their coaching staff. Per Dennis Lin of The Athletic, Nick Punto and Robby Hammock are going to be coming aboard, though their specific roles aren’t yet clear. Lin adds that Ryan Barba, the club’s major league field coordinator in 2024, recently left to join the Cardinals in some unspecified role.

Punto, 47, was in the big leagues from 2001 to 2014 as a utility player. He got into 1,163 games for the Phillies, Twins, Cardinals, Red Sox, Dodgers and Athletics. He hit .245/.323/.323 while playing every position on the diamond outside of the battery. He won a World Series ring with the Cards in 2011.

Hammock, also 47, was mostly a catcher but he also dabbled in the four corner spots. He played on-and-off for the Diamondbacks from 2003 to 2011, getting into 182 games. He hit .254/.312/.407 over his 527 plate appearances.
