No one in the yankee kingdom wants either of those washed up cheaters. Bergman is in no way being seriously pursued, it’s a smart play by Cashman to drive up his price for the Astros. The Yankees have certain character standards for their players that he does not meet.

Lol at posting this like some kind of slight to yankee fans. Everything that guy said is completely valid. Soto is dead to us now.

Oh, that wasn’t a slight. I don’t need to post anything for that. Just saying yankee is enough to get the job done.

With alot of these younger players coming into the league, they are about identity being thier own person, free spirit kind of thinking. Days of nyy getting big name players to sign cause they are the Yankees are coming to a end. All due to the face hair, chains and other "rules". Sure the lord of all nyy fans on here will disagree

Players typically sign for the most cash, all that other shit is just old men yelling.

Pujols signed with the Angels because God told him to.   God wanted him to bring home the most money.

^ You better ask your boy if God is telling him to sign with Det.

Is there any more to this than the Morosi tweet?  Because I can kind of see DET wanting him to rotate 1B/DH and work with Torkleson.  And TIL that Detroit's primary DH last season was:

Pretty sure he'd throw El Mago in el lago at some point, too.

So who was going to pay Soto 40mil a year for 15 years? The idiot was probably bidding against himself.

When I think about the storied Mets franchise, I’m confident that in no way will paying Juan Soto over 2/3 of a billion dollars blow up in their faces in the most hilarious and destructive way possible.

hes not worth it

^ Guess you didn't read much further down.

That was reported by many.

Yeah, that offer did get reported by a number of respectable sources today.  Yesterday however, it seemed like the few places you could find that were your typical pro-Yankee mouthpieces.  For a while there, it seemed like Cashman/Steinbrenner were just throwing that out in public so they couldn't be accused of being cheap.

Someone actually signed with the White Sox lol

Mike Tauchman....not sure the details but I bet it involves hoping he does something to get traded by the deadline

From the franchise that employed ARod, Clemens, Giambi, and a plethora of other roid heads and cheaters of varying severity.

Soto was a great hitter but a complete liability in the field. Passan is right, the Mets paid $51 million a year for a guy that will be a DH most of that contract. I’d much rather spread that money to a bunch of complementary pieces as Dominguez blossoms into a star

Cashman has yet to put together a complete roster this decade so I wouldn't hold my breath he won't fuck it up like he did when Cano walked. If you're focusing on the contract details, you're missing the forest for the trees. Cohen just bigdicked the Yankees for a HOF player that from all reports loved his time in the Bronx. The real winner of the tussle won't be known for years, but Hal just got shown the backhand and there's not a single thing Yankee fan can do to stop it from happening again whenever Cohen has an itch.  The Madoffs are gone and the cross-town team now has an owner that spends and a real baseball man in Stearns. Just be thankful the Mets have a tougher road in the NL so the embarrassment will be limited in the near future.

I kinda like Horwitz.  He can really hit, but he's already 27.  I think they jerked him around in the minors for too long because he's so bad defensively.  Sounds like Edgar Martinez so far.

There is no way to spin losing Soto to the annual failboat in Queens as a positive. He is, barring injury, going to be one of the top 10 hitters to ever play the game. He’s competitive and performs well in big spots. Basically the opposite of Judge.

I have no idea what kind of teammate he is. It seems a bit odd that he’s on his 4th team by age 26, but that doesn’t much matter. The Yanks should have pushed that offer well above an AAV of over 50 per season.

Fried is a good signing. The starters need a lot of help. So does the batting order, but Fried is a good one. The Yanks still have e a better chance to be in the World Series than the Mets. I hope Soto enjoys getting pimp slapped year after year in the playoffs by LA. If he wanted to leave he should’ve stayed in the AL where he had an actual shot to be in the Fall Classic. That chance is near zero going across the bridge and having to see Ohtani and Co. every single year.

Career track says he enjoys variety. And since he already got pimp slapped by the Dodgers in the Fall Classic playing for the AL, maybe he's just looking for something different.

Dipshit probably got it for Ellsbury and lucked into Soto playing there and having same# lol

But yeah that wasn't the smartest idea. Maybe Bregman will wear 22
