Kirk is an idiot.

they could have had an ineligible receiver on the right.

What the fuck is he even talking about?  Has he never seen a QB sneak?  That was the dumbest shit I've ever heard... How does he not know that??

It needlessly delays the game and the next Olineman who gets a targeting penalty called for a blow delivered to him will be the first....you know the ones who all lose their shit from CTE.  It's security theater.

It’s necessary to save the sport. And…

“Several studies have shown that, consistent with positional activities, offensive and defensive linemen sustain the greatest number of head impacts, but are less likely than skill positions to receive high-magnitude impacts.”

yeah, dumbass.  the right tackle was not covered for sure though.  He could have reported or maybe it was a tight end.

Yeah, I wasn't sure wtf Herbie was talking about because there are a number of examples and a QB sneak was the first thing that came to mind.

God damnit I cannot fucking believe Carson fucking sorry ass Beck has scoreboard on us. Fucking ridiculous.

I mean he technically does but that's like saying Greg Mcelroy beat us. Technically sure, but he was riding the bus, not driving it.

Targeting needs to be done away with as a penalty.  Refs can't call it right, it gets overturned as much as it gets upheld.

So then they're getting it right? The overturns are a success. I understand it adds 7 minutes of agony to your total watch time but they're literally making sure it's right. And plenty of us have seen no-brainers that are absolutely worthy of an ejection.

gata up 13-6 at half, but left with 3rd string QB

Brought back this memory of 3rd string QB in huge rivalry win...

The Red River Rivalry (or Shootout as it was once known) has been a series marked by dramatic games, unexpected outcomes and high drama but when Texas and Oklahoma met in 1977 no one expected a third-string quarterback to come off the bench and clinch the game.

Longhorn quarterback Randy McEachern stunned a Cotton Bowl crowd of 72,000 and all of college football when he led his fifth-ranked Texas squad to a 13-6 win over No. 2 Oklahoma. It was something, said Texas head coach Fred Akers, you had to see happen to truly believe.

Yet, there’s no targeting in the NFL. Has there even been a single player that played in college but no NFL that have come forward with CTE? It seems like it’s been most all multi year NFL guys.

Saying that we’re the only team Georgia extensively prepped for this year is some of the most mind-numbingly idiotic, homerish shit I’ve ever heard. Just take fucking loss on the chin and move on. We played like absolute shit, but are still in the hunt. We’ll probably get another crack at UGA, too.

targeting needs to be limited to crown to helmet for player who is not defenseless and helmet, shoulder, forearm truly FORCEABLE to helmet for defenseless.  they need to quit with the head/"neck" area and enough with the ticky tack hands brushing the QB helmet and other not forceable contact.

And there is targeting in HS but it does not come with an automatic ejection, which is the feature that sucks so much about it and is the reason it's the only penalty that is reviewed.  Not to mention it asks the ridiculous of a defender at times with an overly punitive cost while doing very very little to protect the players most likely to develop CTE as it does nothing to address them.

You really want to make the game safer....continue to do things to reduce the number of plays in a season.  And reduce hits taken in practice

“Of the 53 college players tested, a staggering 48 had CTE, a rare disease that is a risk factor for memory loss and dementia.”

Numerous articles, just google. Also, since it can only be studied after death, it’s a monumental task to do a complete study.

This shows me how fucking little you've researched this. Yes, there have been tons of people who only played football in college who had CTE, there are thousands of cases studied. Owen Thomas played at Penn and committed suicide his junior year of college and was found to have extensive CTE.

Why would I research CTE? You spend your free time studying brain injuries?

I have done research work using EEGs, so no, I don't spend my free time, I spend my professional time studying them.

Why do you spend your free time talking about subjects you are completely ignorant of?

"Over two-thirds of head impacts for a football player occur in practice typically," said Daneshvar. "And so, if we eliminate half of the head impacts that occur in practices based on just eliminating those practices, no change to the game at all, we could decrease the risk of CTE for an average, say, offensive lineman by about 50% over eight years."

Also, it’s not just about CTE, there are great risks of other major injuries to the neck and head.
